So during our defence, I did two different things:
Bought 40 energy bars and a damage booster for damage. Cost equivalent in GBP: 37,800 for 12mil of damage.
Bought 180,000,000 of damage from Mercenary friends and new mercenaries I met, winning the last and most vital points for the eUK as night descended. Cost in GBP: Just short of 60,000.
So as you can see, the latter was much more cost effective. This made some talk of a 'JW defence fund' on IRC, which gave me an idea. Why not turn it in to reality?
How It Went
Night was descending in the eUK and the Canadians had planned a major push. We needed about 8 more points to win but everybody was going to sleep by this time, Croatia had also made a huge push for Canada. They were in the mercenary channel trying to also buy damage, and they started to make a significant impact on the damage bar.
Thanks to the co-ordination done on IRC, my mercenaries were able to maintain the wall for about 90% of the battle, and I'm very grateful for their continued loyalty and the fun of allowing me to command such strikes! It was definitely money well spent, although people seem to think otherwise. In which case, I refer you to the above numbers for comparison! If I suck at tanking, why not fund others to do it for me?
Private Defence Fund
So basically, every time we're invaded I'll pledge around 100,000GBP to the campaign for getting damage. I'll pay for weapons for eUK citizens and mercenaries for those vital points to defend us during the push.
If anybody else ever wishes to pledge money, I won't stop them, but I'd encourage those with not so much money to focus more on their individual military units.
This will be run completely independently of the government, and will only be used to protect the eUK's core regions, or to win them in resistance wars. It won't be used in assaults on other nation's regions, as I have financial limitations on constantly paying out on attacks.
100,000GBP per battle will get us apprixmately 300,000,000 damage, which will be enough to win those vital last points. Now we can't rely on this, but last night showed that in the very last round, it wins us some very vital points and maintains the wall during the enemy's final push.
Also, Canada burnt out a lot of their rockets etc trying to counter my guys' damage, so it was totally worth it from an attrition point of view too!

I say if you can afford it then go for it.
Government is not paying for this, we cannot afford it being the main reason.
But I would rather spend the 60k on our players ranking up etc. Long term picture.
A private fund etc, could be possible I know many ex CP's have paid for Mercs from their own pockets to close a battle (self included) but it is expensive.
I already said I'll pay myself. 😉 There's too much pressure on the MoD right now, especially when MPPs cost so much.

This is the first sensible idea for a long, long time. And as a matter of fact, MoD does this in its CtA in IRC in a limited manner. The JW defense should be extended and applied in certain and key cases for MoD as "another weapon more". The questions is quite simple: it works, THEN it should be SUPPORTED.
Well done, if you can afford it go right ahead buddy. Still think it's better to help rank up eUKers, but helping is good, however you want to do it. You said it was fun and that's the only reason we're here after all
You're a very generous chap, thanks for our efforts. I'd say keep them up in the future of possible, weak countries like us will have to rely on mercs now and again. But as BA said, echoing the words of Machiavelli, in the long run it will be better to have our own strong national army. It will be interesting to see how your financial stimulus should help this.

Please make sure you can afford it mate, this game really isnt that good enough to get yourself spending monies that you could use elsewhere

could be a way to expand is a private citizenship donation fund to a central location.
Not enforced, but, if you want to support the eUK's war efforts you can donate tanks/money to a central location(s) in times of peace, and war, to then be used in our own wars to help our citizens and mercenaries.
Not to be used to help allies, just us.
This is great. Could I have some food? I agree with Bohemond4 (above this comment). I think that this money should be given to UK citizens to help UK wars.
