March 20th is Nowruz (literally "new day") the first day of spring and vernal equinox. Beginning of spring is celebrated in Iran and many other Asian countries like Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and ....
It is Holiday in Iran for 5 days and people meet their relatives and friends and people go to each other's houses.
Celebrating of Nowruz is an ancient tradition which is still celebrated in Iran.
Typically, before the arrival of Nowruz, family members gather around the Haft-sin table and await the exact moment of the March equinox to celebrate the New Year. Traditionally, the Haft-sin are:
Sabze – wheat, barley, mung bean, or lentil sprouts grown in a dish.
Samanu – sweet pudding made from wheat germ
Persian olive
Vinegar
Apple
Garlic
Sumac
These items are also known to have astrological correlations to planets Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Sun, and Moon. The Haft-sin table may also include a mirror, candles, painted eggs, a bowl of water, goldfish, coins, hyacinth, and traditional confectioneries. A "book of wisdom" such as the Quran, Bible, Avesta, the Šāhnāme of Ferdowsi, or the divān of Hafez may also be included.[66] Haft-sin's origins are not clear. The practice is believed to have been popularized over the past 100 years.
Here are 3 typical Haft-sin tables.
People give their gusts confectionery and fruits.

Some time ago I wrote an article about the day that Christians in Bulgaria call "Great Day". This is the day Jesus Christ is resurrected.
Christianity is a foreign religion that has tried its best to erase all other customs. But we - the Bulgarians, are a stubborn people and we have managed to preserve our traditions under the guise of Christian customs .Reading about the Iranian holidays, I realize how much we have in common.
