New Alliances! What does this mean for Aus?

R be warned
So as mentioned here in our Glorious vCP’s article, there are now 2 Formed Alliances. Now interestingly enough Chile will not be joining either meaning we have a series of odd things which are happening.
Alliances yo
Firstly, technically both alliances are open to us joining them. Chile is going to form a Pro-Sirius alliance which will be roughly fighting for roughly the same goals (think Terra and EDEN if you are old like me). Asteria therefore has Chile as an enemy, meaning we should be able to join them however Sirius is still an option due to the fact that Chile has refused to join Sirius in favour of a allied yet separate alliance, that means that Sirius is potentially open to us aswell.
Sirius (black) in all its glory
Secondly, What would happen should we join Sirius?
Let us assume for the moment that we joined Sirius, We would be allied to Indonesia and Chile by default leaving us in a decent position, and we get Peru, NZ and South Africa as options for expansion or region trades or even Training wars. We could strengthen relations by doing a region swap with Indo (say NT for LSI) to prevent resentment on the Indo side. This leaves Chile. We simply MPP them and help them against Argentina.
How about exploring that last option for a second, MPP Chile and help them get their resources from Argentina rather than us. Now im imagining people saying:
“but Tim (who I find sexually attractive) haven’t Argentina been helping us for a long time? Wouldn’t that be betrayal of an ally to help an enemy?”
The Short answer is “No”. The Long answer is “No it most certainly isn’t”
Who signed the NAP that made it possible for Chile to come to Australia in the first place? I’ll give you a hint, their name rhymes with Smargentina.
The First thing that poped up in google images when i put in Asteria
Thirdly, Say we join Asteria. What would that hold for us?
Well, firstly we get NZ as an ally, yay I suppose. That however means we get Indo and Chile as enemies, joyous days constant fights for survival. The only consolation prize there is that China and Taiwan would be our allies (good luck getting them to help though).
We would get slight domination in Europe but as far as our neck of the woods go, do you think Argentina is going to help us? Why would they risk their bonuses for us? The answer is they wouldn’t, they signed over our regions in exchange for secure bonuses at home. What glorious allies, not to mention FlorenciaC is in a top position in Argentina... that alone is almost reason enough not to go anywhere near that alliance.
There are some good points however, Romania has been a good ally to Australia, others may doubt them but they have been good to us, and surprisingly Serbia has been quite decent too. Not even to mention Greece who will always be an ally no matter which side we are on. If we go by members then 4/6 founders of Asteria are good news for Australia. Not too bad I guess.
its true you know!
Fourthly, What do I personally think?
Ok, ill be honest here, after rereading this article I realise its quite pro-Sirius, but don’t make judgements before you read this part, in general I favour Sirius however joining them in my humble opinion would need some conditions, Chile being the major one. There is no point being in an alliance when we are wiped and the alliance is unwilling to help.
I’d only join Sirius if they talk to Chile and get them out of our regions, MPP them and help them take bonuses from elsewhere.
I’d be personally willing to offer Chile a month of Victoria and Queensland as an offer of good faith for them to get the bonuses. But signed in stone and blood that after that month they get lost from our regions and don’t return anytime soon.
So in my Sirius situation (it’s really easy to do horrible puns with this alliance), Chile give up 5/7 regions immediately, and keep Victoria and Queensland for 1 month to give them time to conquer bonuses from elsewhere.
What happens if Chile refuses this offer? Asteria anyone? Fight the good fight and never give up, I personally refuse to live in a country where our fate is resigned to never get our regions back. Fight on until the last man. Let Chile know that’s what we will do, and let them know they could have avoided it by being less arrogant.
Thanks for reading
Cheers

"...we get Peru, NZ and South Africa as options for expansion..."
I hope you checked with them first.
"and we get Peru, NZ and South Africa as options for expansion or region trades or even Training wars."
in the case of south africa it would be the latter 2 options.
we have nothing other than love for our South African brethren.
>>>we have nothing other than love for our South African brethren.<<<< well I must say I am pleased by that, same goes for our most natural of allies NZ
Greg, you were asked to leave for having an opinion which will not change and is angry and hateful which goes directly against the views of this article
go away... please... you are not welcome unless you change your pathetic attitude
Aww now I am sad 🙁
LOL
I must say, creative article timmy boy.
why thank you 😉
Good article Tim

good article
About siding with Sirius/Chile. Make sure it dosn't turn into another CoT situation with you's.
We all know how that went.
i agree wholeheartedly, its why we wouldnt be just going on chiles word and we would have a number of safeguards like MPPs etc
I am pretty certain that whatever promises Chile makes will be broken, they are the Sam Burgess of eRepublik.
Interesting analysis..
Although I'm not very knowledgeable about the politics of alliances in this game, it just seems stupid to ally with the nations who have happily had us wiped for so long. Is it not better to form even stronger bonds with the allies who have helped eAustralia out (as much as they could) for such a long time, rather than completely changing sides and joining our enemies simply for the short-term joy of having our regions back? Just my opinion, interesting article. 🙂
it comes down to benefits over ideals. most of the countries that you suggest we cosy up to are actually in Sirius not Asteria.
we wouldnt even be changing sides really, we are culturally and politically a hell of a lot closer to Sirius already, Asteria would be going into the deep end, which is why i suggested we do that if we cant resolve issues in the Sirius/Chile camp.
its always good to hear peoples opinions, i certainly like hearing everyone out so i can get a better idea of what the population think.
You seem knowledgeable enough to me Robdog, all this is like deja vu, when we were with CoT and Chile stabbed us in the back, all for their own greed. Best eWorld is a world where Chile is the one that stays wiped for a long time, that should be what we want
Bloody good article Tim and gives you a lot of food for thought...
Chile cannot be trusted, Indonesia had at least the excuse that we are next door, Chile isn't. We turn on our friends to look out just for ourselves and one day we will pay for that disloyalty. Argentina had to look out for their own interest, I am not sure if you are suggesting that we suddenly turn on NZ and South Africa, I won't have a bar of that. I am not sure if that is what you are suggesting, I have to read it again a couple of times. I think if we can get closer with the Indos and drive a wedge between them and our enemy Chile (if at all possible) that might be most palatable to me. BUT, the day we attack NZ or South Africa is the day I go somewhere else, I am not just hot air and words, I say what I believe. I am not a politician therefore I have very little say in the matter but that is my input anyway. I do feel that whatever Chile says it might do will be about as good as a promise from Sam Burgess (a known bullshyter).
its a good thing i didnt ask for your opinion.
seriously will you leave if we attack NZ? ill be recommending it as government policy if you say yes.....
Attacking friends is WRONG in every sense, and for what ?. a small gain and a temporary one at best ?
seriously, are you telling the whole world you would occupy NZ just to get back at one of your critics ???.. If any Kiwi reads this they might start to see you the way I already do. You haven't commented on my views I put up earlier, instead you go for the cheap shot... again.
good thats your opinion, now leave my article please, you are not welcome as long as you post stupid opinions as fact. they are not fact only the ramblings of a bigot who hates chile no matter what the circumstances
No wonder I haven't trusted you the last few months.
congrats, i dont care...
now off you go, as stated before, this article is not the place for you
Greg L, he is only talking about attacking NZ as a way to get you to leave the game, otherwise we are not looking to attack them.
[removed]
I seriously doubt we would ever attack NZ or SA. Don't worry.
"Romania has been a good ally to Australia, others may doubt them but they have been good to us, and surprisingly Serbia has been quite decent too. Not even to mention Greece who will always be an ally no matter which side we are on. If we go by members then 4/6 founders of Asteria are good news for Australia. Not too bad I guess."
These few sentences has everything I needed to know to choose. I know you don't like Arg, and what they did to us make me feel the same, but I would choose them 100 times instead of Chile, not to mention Indos.
apparently Arg just signed another NAP with chile, so Asteria might not give a single F about us even if we were to join.
Sirius has 5/6 of its countries that Aus is fine with too 😛
as i said in my opinion its time to chat and see how chile and sirius react to my idea, if they dont like it then off to Asteria we go.
The very first country who has the guts to attack Chile will be from Asteria. I would make them also 5/6. Not to mention there are less countries there who never betrayed anybody.
Arg are the #2 reason (behind Chile being douches) for why Chile were able to reset their determination bonuses here. I asked for a MPP renewal a few days before it expired, was told that they would consider it and get back to me. After that, no one responded to my messages and they let it laps so that Chile could reset it at no cost. With friends like that, who needs enemies?
and the other 9 mpps??
We wanted to maintain a MPP with Argentina regardless of which alliance we went into as we saw them as a key strategic partner. The remaining MPP's went away due to alliance formations, waiting to see who went where
So everything is Arg's fault right? But you guys let all the mpps ran out, regardless that we had mpp out of TWO countries before just because we were friends like China.
No one would sign them. There was too much of a risk that normal MPP's would be on opposite sides so would cancel them only a short time after they were signed. I spoke to one of the MoFA (Gabrik) from Arg 3-4 days before the MPP was up for renewal and was told that there should be no issues with an MPP renewal, but that it would need to be checked first. The next night and every time after that, no one from Arg would talk, as they had obviously agreed with Chile to not sign so Chile could reset determination (not that we knew that at that time), as they had an mpp with about 20 days to go on it.
In which case Arg knowingly supported Chile with their occupation of Australia. No other nation did that, just Arg. They are the ones who keep telling us how good friends we are, and then they go behind our backs and support our enemy
I know what Arg does...like I said to Tim, I don't like that either. But Chile occupies and not Arg, and the alliance that would help beat Chile at least once would be Asteria , because there are states there that has guts to do so. USA and other who have already chosen Chile before would not help for sure. Anyways it is a tough question, where not necessarily we should choose. We have to keep our friends for sure.
yes, I very much agree. Regardless of which alliance we join, I still want to keep strong relations with other nations that have looked out for us previously. What ever happens I expect we will be able to stay friends with Romania, Hungary, Poland, UK, Greece etc.
Good article. Please, let me give u a tip that you could include in ur analysis.
At this moment, countries in South America are talking and working to create a treaty of non agression and of defensive cooperation. It's pretty probably that the most of SA countries sign a NAP, could elect congress this month, and start to cooperate avoiding any attack to it's originals. If these talking are successfully, real wars could be almost ended in SA, even attacks to SA could be prevented and war could be moved to Europe/Asia/Oceany.
In short term, it's most probably a chilean attack to an ASTERIA country than viceversa.
Cheers
I don't think joining Sirius solves anything. Chile is not going to give up the bonuses just because we join Sirius. Let's face it, Australia is too small of a country to provoke such a decision. Harsh as it may be, this is the truth. The only way to get Chile out is to convince Asteria to help us kick them out because without bonuses they are weaker... though even that is a long shot. I would still go for Asteria, I think we'll have more fun and a better shot at Chile rather then hoping that they will give up their bonuses willingly.
The biggest downside is that it would also mean we would be fighting against countries like Poland who have stood up for us before, and aside from Greece, no nations in Asteria have really done anything to support us in the past few months
really?? Don't tell that to any Romanian or Hungarian...
Nice article. Well-articulated discussion. I would personally love to see Chile gone forever. I left before they took us over and am only just now returning to eAus.
I think NZ and SA both have much to gain from being our friends, i.e. region swaps, training wars. Don't understand what people don't get about that.
Thank you, and welcome back to erep and eAus
It's nice to be back, and free no less (if only fleetingly!).
