MU's: A Boon or a Bane

Day 2,699, 01:52 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Tangbod

Lot's of words i'm afraid.
Let's start off with the question 'How many people have changed MU's in their e-life ?' A fair number I'd think, I know I have, due to inactivity at the top of the chain of command.
Now ask yourself 'How many members of the various MU's are actually active ?' I'll take the MU I belong to, "Royal Marines", not that long ago we were listed with over 100 members then I did a cull on long-term inactives and we dropped down to 65 members, following another cull we're down to 11 and at least 2-3 of those appear to have dropped out of the game. That or they're somebody's second accounts.
Now think 'How many other UK based MU's are in similar straits ?'. This creates a major head-ache with the new 'Dicktaker' module(pun intended) as anyone can join an MU and if the commander is inactive ticket the Admins to be given control of it to them after a couple of days.
So this creates a problem for any country and what they should do about it, what is being discussed at the moment is trying to cut-down on the number of potential threats available to possible threats by cutting down the number of MU's present in the eUK starting with the inactive ones first. Those with a small amount of members would be asked about the possibility of moving/merging with another MU. doing this cuts down on possible threats from one direction, but it does create another potential problem with, if we had only a small number of MU's with everyone on a generally friendly basis then have we created the situation where a coup is more likely to be successful, especially if everyone is truly on friendly terms, because the commanders have banded together and struck a deal. There isn't an easy answer in my view but it is one that needs to be worked on as the new game mechanic makes us quite susceptible as a country to any decent sized foreign MU with hostile intentions, The Shoe People are a good example of that especially if they can get somebody into the country.
There is also the potential of a corrupt or inept government being able to buy off the MU commanders to remain in power or support their coup attempt to remain in control.

So what are the answers to this problem, one of the easiest starts to dealing with this problem is the dis-solving of any inactive MU's if people were willing to do this, it would probably be easier to target 5 a day so that by the end of a persons 2 day period we'd have 15 MU's in the process of being dissolved. Is this feasible, I don't know it would more than likely depend on the level of trust and co-operation between people. I'd also suggest that those individuals more interested in the media/political side of things be the ones to do it freeing up those who fight to carry on fighting, now would have been a good time to start as we're in a relatively quiet period with us not being involved in any actual wars, but we now face the threat of an attempted coup.
Where we then go from here I'm not sure as I know for some people having an MU is some sort of status symbol for them and they'd be reluctant to give up this status symbol, but once the inactive MU's have gone then we'll get a clearer picture of where any potential threats may lie.

Thoughts and ideas on this line of thinking people, ohh and of course the trolling!
