Ministry of Finance - the term so far
Bank of England
Greetings all and sundry! Elvis Trout here, Minister of Finance. So far this term has been rather interesting, my first task was:
Training Ground Loans
The mainstay of any finance minister's job these days as it is one of the truly useful things we can do with our country's gold. Unfortunately I was given the post right in the middle of an offer and we were therefore only able to offer 10g loans and didn't have much time to advertise. But we still managed to help 3 different people upgrade their training grounds, and best of all 2 of them have already repaid the loan. This was quite a surprise for me, as during one of my previous stints as deputy minister my job was to trawl through the list of unpaid loans to cross off those who had been banned or gone inactive. I was very pleased to see the loans repaid so swiftly, well done chaps!
Admin update! Hurrah for admins
The creators of this game, in their infinite wisdom, decided to change the way country accounts work so that you cannot donate gold from them any more, and thus the only way to get the gold out is to print currency, an expensive option. Therefore I thought it imperative that we transferred the money to an Org with utmost haste, lest our considerable fortune be instantly devalued. Fortunately congress were, for the most part, of the same mind and the transfer was made before the impending deadline. The money is now being put to work on the Money Market and should bring in an extra £12-24k over the course of the term if things go to plan.
Income and Expenditure
We have had an average income per day so far of £2973.88 which would suggest that as a nation we can afford to have 8.9 MPPs. However the average is skewed by the fact that we had less regions at the start of the term, and MM earnings have yet to materialise. I expect we shall have a much more accurate picture of our spending capabilities by the middle of the term. So far no huge expenditures, (just the 10g loan), but with an MPP expiring soon, and various others due to expire in the coming week I am sure my political masters will be finding avenues of diplomatic interest down which a wadge of cash will flow nicely, so if you will excuse me I will return to making sure there's plenty of money there to be spent.
Yours faithfully
Elvis Trout

good move re: admin changes
Sorry Don't get it.. we lost a major player this week in Emergy. he donated 1.1million CC to UK accounts and their is no mention of that from our MoF.... what am I missing here?
I didn't know about that, I don't check CA regularly as donations are not a usual source of income. When I did see it I assumed it had always been there. Shame to hear about Emergy.
What you always thought we had 1.2m in the bank in game? As MoF you should know this.. or at least your CP should be making you aware of it.
God I never had any of these problems when Carlini was my MoF.
It's pretty unusual for a player to donate 1.1mill to the country...
Pretty funny comment considering Carlini never let you have access to any real money when you were CP xD
no your right and that was the way i wanted it. With my "Rep" i wanted to prove that I would never steal so i had a 50k org for supplying which still existed back then.
The fact is that is HOW is SHOULD be run. MoF is incharge of the country accounts. Also im sure emergy told most people that he was leaving, I even got wind of it.
but shouldn;t the MoF check the treasury account ingame every day to monitor tax income? either way no excuse is it.
Well I can only apologise, but my priorities are looking after the funds that are entrusted to me, the country accounts are congress's jurisdiction as far as I'm concerned. I was not made aware that I was made MoF by Acroc, Dr. Kawishiwi informed me when he handed over the org passwords, so I had to hit the ground running, and was I admit a tad flummoxed at first.
Ok Elvis that would explain it, that's all you had to say.
Also we should be using the 1.1m to MM fish.. but based on what chewie did.. maybe a sizeable amount of cash should always be kept in the treasury ingame.

Good idea, bad realization. 10 gold loan is not enough in most cases. Should be at least doubled. Excess in money should go to food supplies for NHS.
I don't think you properly read the article.
10g limit is because that is the most you can transfer in one day, and the offer was only valid for one day when I got the job. The NHS is currently privately funded, so the government doesn't pay for it. Any excess money at the end of this term will be spent however the next government sees fit.
Thanks for the clarification, I stand corrected. Maybe it's time for public kitchens and armories. You are after all... Communists.
that's quite alright, if you think the government should offer more public services perhaps run for office and try and get them implemented, or perhaps try and find a party with similar beliefs. There is only so much money to go around though, so increased spending in one area can lead to cuts in another. I think we are very lucky to live in a country that has a privately funded NHS though.
NHS is a great idea but you can always improve things or semi-nationalize them. Being a Serb, I'm a political corpse, so I can only ask questions but thank you for the suggestion.
"you can always improve things or semi-nationalize them."
I like how you made those things sound mutually exclusive 😃
Ma bad.
and/or, depends how it's done
Do you have a public gdoc we could look through?
working partly from my incumbent's sheet, but any new transactions are recorded here http://tinyurl.com/eukaccountsmay
I know you have done the job many times before so if you have any suggestions please pm me
My only suggestion really would be keeping a tidy list of where cash is, or at least our current total value. It means if it goes up you get to claim you're a financial wizard, and if it goes down you can shrug your shoulders and mutter something about irresponsible CO's... worked like a charm for me!
fair enough, well I thought by checking congresses activity I had that covered as I would see expenditure and donations going out, but I never expected income directly to the country accounts. I see my errors now and I will happily track the CA balance as well.
