Military reform?
WastelandENT
Hello eSA,
Now that the CP elections are over I have more time to get back to writing opinion pieces! I know, I know, excitement abounds I can feel it in the air. I have heard your pleas for more Gauteng Rekord opinion pieces and I have answered! Now,all joking aside I will be writing about the topic of military reform, does eSA need it?
I believe we do. I have seen a lot of people discuss this topic and I have even heard it is being worked on. The question remains however, how should it be reformed? I believe I have some ideas that could work. Again, before I begin I would like to say that I know this is being worked on by the government and the national MU leaders already so I am not trying to step on anyone's toes or criticize anyone. I am only giving my opinion on some ways we can reform our national MU. Without further hesitation, lets begin!
To begin lets look at the MU's in eSA in order. (information obtained from egov4you)
1. eSAAF
2. Desert Lions SA
3. Dignity Brigade
4. Red Army RSA
5. eSAAF Recce Kommando
6. eSAAF Young Guns
7. Psychedelic Unicorn Rangers
8. Legion of Super Soldiers
9. The DO Mercenaries
10. Kommando Reserved MU
Now, some of these MU's are either not really active anymore (Kommando Reserved MU due to merging with Recces) or are too small to really help reform our national MU (Legion of Super Soldiers and Psychedelic Unicorn Rangers) While I'm sure both of those MU's have some heavy hitters in them, they won't help reform our national MU. Other are here only to hunt trophies (The DO Mercenaries).
Now, on to what I think we can do to better our national MU. First off, I think we should make eSAAF Young Guns part of eSAAF instead of its own MU. I understand younger citizens need special care and I do not want that taken from them, but I think they would be better served to have their area on our national forums rather than having their own MU. The reason for this is because the Young Guns MU shout wall is very inactive and for young citizens that can be very discouraging and could make them not want to continue playing eRep. Bringing them into the regular eSAAF MU would show them a little more activity and could interest them more.
Another thing I believe we should do is renew interest in eSAAF Recce Kommando. This is essentially eSA's special forces, members of this MU should be proud and should be beating their chests for being able to be in this MU. Being in Recce Kommando should be a great honor. Instead they are regularly ranked fifth on our top five list of MU's for the day. Recce Kommando needs a renewed interest and vigor. Recce Kommando should be on the front lines and should be the rebels fueling RW's. We need to make Recce Kommando feared around the new world, no matter how small eSA may be enemies should look at Recce Kommando with fear in their hearts.
Also, Red Army RSA has a larger member base than eSAAF. I do not see any reason for any MU to be larger than our national MU. I know they work with our national MU but I think eSAAF would be better served if Red Army was also merged into eSAAF.
Another thing that could really help is more activity on the forums. The MU section of the forums has very little activity and the little activity there is gets divided into different boards that can only be seen by members of that division (Pretorian Guard, Assegai, Parabats, etc.). I think if we had all these divisions post on the same boards our activity level would not be as much of an issue. After all, unity builds brotherhood. I think we should still keep these divisions, just have them all post in the same area. To go a little bit further on this issue, I think each division should have its own commander that is selected by members of the division (if they don't have that already, I am not 100% sure about this). That would allow for each division to carry out separate orders on the same day if necessary.
Finally, I know we already have a MoD newspaper but I believe it should write articles much more often. This would allow for people to get more involved in our national MU everyday.
Those are just some simple things I think we can do to help reform our national MU.
As always, thank you for reading eSA!

Being Such a small country and activty levels the way they are i do think that 1 or 2 MU's for the entire country would be a great benifit to any fight I think that this would be a great reform but people need to act on it rather than say they are working on it
Glad to see some talk about it! But coming from Recce-Kommando I better clear up that we aren't eSA's special forces. That would be Assagei I believe. Voted!
Sorry about that Alfredo, I was a little unclear.
Sense Recce Kommando is not our special forces I would like to add that I think our special forces should have their own MU and Recce Kommando be merged into eSAAF.
I beg to differ,
as you can see from these two articles
http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/we-must-help-2111189/1/20
and

Something is being done, as someone who has worked and still is working hard on this innitiative, I know this.
The key however is to get all the MU's in on this and a bit better communication between the leaders of the division to communicate a bit better so that there orders match up.
In essence Recess, Komandos, Red Army and eSAAF are all one.
Also these extra Military Units would you have them disbanded ?
And who will pay each MU Commander his/her 40 Gold back, that he/she paid to start the MU ?
@Luna, I know people are doing things to help our national MU, and I said that in my article. I do not want to criticize any ones work because I understand that I may not know everything that is going on behind the scenes. I am only stating a few things I think can help this issue.
The "extra" MU's (which I never referred to them as) would be left alone. I do not think we should get rid of all the other MU's. I only think that the MU's that are already part of eSAAF but not in the same MU should merge into eSAAF to help numbers and activity. I also understand that 40 gold is a large investment but sometimes people have to sacrifice for the good of their country.
Maybe my ideas would not better the countries, then that is why we decide as a people what we should do and not as a person. I am only stating what I (Again, I cannot stress enough that I am only speaking of what I think would help, I do not speak for any group in this article) think would help our national MU.
The current eSAAF structure is:
All-😨 Low activity: Pretorian Guard
D1: Under 250 Str: Young Guns
D2: 600 fights/week: Recce Kommandos
D3: 800 fights/week: Parabats
D4: 1000 fights/week: Assegai
They are all in the eSAAF MU, and split by Regiment (D1=Reg1, etc for those who are awake) and collectively meet in Joint Military on forums.
The other MU are artifacts.
With the list that Miyagiyoda gave us we should surely reorganise. No more then 3 MU's, I would suggest merging Pretorian Guard & Recce Kommandos and Parabats and Assegai. That would leave
- Young Guns (Training of new recruits)
- Pretorian Guard (Main Army
- Assegai (Elite Unit)
Assegai should be an elite unit with much stricter requirements and best supplies that can be given
@Miyagiyoda thanks for the info. Does each MU have their own division commander?
@Fhaemita I think that would be a good idea, it would make communicating between divisions much easier.
No criticism meant wasteland just being informative, but rereading it now it came across far to aggressive, sorry mate keep up the good work.
No harm Luna, I was just up way too late last night due to the election and was in a bad mood. You were only trying to inform me that things were already being done.
Also, I'm always open to criticism on my articles, after all how else would I become a better journalist? If you ever see something in my articles that is untrue or unfair I would rather you let me know than spare my feelings.
Voted.
Fhaemitas entire post x2.
@Fhaetima "They are *all* in the eSAAF MU, and split by Regiment (D1=Reg1, etc for those who are awake) and collectively meet in Joint Military on forums.
The other MU are artifacts."
We will adjust requirements as soon as we have sufficient numbers.
Each Branch is run by a Colonel and Lt-Col.
Young Guns are all div 1 soldiers under 250 strength within PG (so they don't feel lonely) so that we can focus training and strength training (when funding is reorganised and consolidated).
So the only national MU at the moment is eSAAF? and Young Guns, Recce Kommando, and Red Army MU's are not actively used anymore? They are still divisions, but they are in eSAAF, correct?
