Military reform?

Day 1,813, 15:54 Published in South Africa South Africa by WastelandENT

Hello eSA,

Now that the CP elections are over I have more time to get back to writing opinion pieces! I know, I know, excitement abounds I can feel it in the air. I have heard your pleas for more Gauteng Rekord opinion pieces and I have answered! Now,all joking aside I will be writing about the topic of military reform, does eSA need it?

I believe we do. I have seen a lot of people discuss this topic and I have even heard it is being worked on. The question remains however, how should it be reformed? I believe I have some ideas that could work. Again, before I begin I would like to say that I know this is being worked on by the government and the national MU leaders already so I am not trying to step on anyone's toes or criticize anyone. I am only giving my opinion on some ways we can reform our national MU. Without further hesitation, lets begin!

To begin lets look at the MU's in eSA in order. (information obtained from egov4you)

1. eSAAF

2. Desert Lions SA

3. Dignity Brigade

4. Red Army RSA

5. eSAAF Recce Kommando

6. eSAAF Young Guns

7. Psychedelic Unicorn Rangers

8. Legion of Super Soldiers

9. The DO Mercenaries

10. Kommando Reserved MU

Now, some of these MU's are either not really active anymore (Kommando Reserved MU due to merging with Recces) or are too small to really help reform our national MU (Legion of Super Soldiers and Psychedelic Unicorn Rangers) While I'm sure both of those MU's have some heavy hitters in them, they won't help reform our national MU. Other are here only to hunt trophies (The DO Mercenaries).

Now, on to what I think we can do to better our national MU. First off, I think we should make eSAAF Young Guns part of eSAAF instead of its own MU. I understand younger citizens need special care and I do not want that taken from them, but I think they would be better served to have their area on our national forums rather than having their own MU. The reason for this is because the Young Guns MU shout wall is very inactive and for young citizens that can be very discouraging and could make them not want to continue playing eRep. Bringing them into the regular eSAAF MU would show them a little more activity and could interest them more.

Another thing I believe we should do is renew interest in eSAAF Recce Kommando. This is essentially eSA's special forces, members of this MU should be proud and should be beating their chests for being able to be in this MU. Being in Recce Kommando should be a great honor. Instead they are regularly ranked fifth on our top five list of MU's for the day. Recce Kommando needs a renewed interest and vigor. Recce Kommando should be on the front lines and should be the rebels fueling RW's. We need to make Recce Kommando feared around the new world, no matter how small eSA may be enemies should look at Recce Kommando with fear in their hearts.

Also, Red Army RSA has a larger member base than eSAAF. I do not see any reason for any MU to be larger than our national MU. I know they work with our national MU but I think eSAAF would be better served if Red Army was also merged into eSAAF.

Another thing that could really help is more activity on the forums. The MU section of the forums has very little activity and the little activity there is gets divided into different boards that can only be seen by members of that division (Pretorian Guard, Assegai, Parabats, etc.). I think if we had all these divisions post on the same boards our activity level would not be as much of an issue. After all, unity builds brotherhood. I think we should still keep these divisions, just have them all post in the same area. To go a little bit further on this issue, I think each division should have its own commander that is selected by members of the division (if they don't have that already, I am not 100% sure about this). That would allow for each division to carry out separate orders on the same day if necessary.

Finally, I know we already have a MoD newspaper but I believe it should write articles much more often. This would allow for people to get more involved in our national MU everyday.

Those are just some simple things I think we can do to help reform our national MU.

As always, thank you for reading eSA!
