Japan's Power Play, and Why I Love It

Day 751, 19:15 Published in USA United Kingdom by Devoid

As you all know, we invaded Japan. Or tried to. They brought in help from Phoenix, and sent us back where we came from.

Next up, the Japanese president Dokomo issues an ultimatum to Phoenix: GTFO of China, except for HK, or we're going to let the USA in.

First reaction: WTF?

Second reaction: Ahah! I see what you're doing. They're on a power trip! Sure they might be a tiny nation with no resources or military power to speak of. But they do have something, and that's geographical position.

First up, show the US and co that Japan has power over them by bringing in their enemies and stuffing the invasion. Then show Phoenix and co that Japan has power over them by threatening to let the US through anyway if Phoenix doesn't bend over and meet this tiny island's demands.

WELL PLAYED JAPAN! You've got all the major powers in the world right where you want them, purely through clever maneuvering.

As a member of the US, aside from enjoying a good piece of political scheming, why do I love this?

- If Dokomo is serious, and Phoenix gives in to Japan's demands, Indonesia loses regions it wants to hold, and Iran loses its iron. Iran no doubt is pissed about this, and schisms within Phoenix spring up. Also, Phoenix looks weak.

- If Dokomo is serious, and Phoenix refuses Japan's demands, we get to go do exactly what we planned to do in the first place. Victory.

- If Dokomo is bluffing, we're no worse-off than we were. Also, lol at Phoenix. Forced them to make some hard decisions for nothing.

^hail to the Emperor!
