Is the war over ?
Rotten.ImmOrtal
Is the war over ? The question is in every mind. After having failed to invade France, Canada, UK and USA have been thrown to the sea, Spain keeps getting bashed by Italy and Sweden struggles to keep the captured land. The war won't be over until France wins all its regions back, but i think the time has come to step back and analyze what happened to each country.
First, my worst mistake. When PEACE had successfully helped Portugal versus the furious assault of Spain, i had written that the "real" Spain, the non-PMV one, should be the winner of this war. And i was wrong, terribly wrong.
The new government talked with France then suddenly broke all contact, pretending they had to fulfill the promises made by Spain to Atlantis. And then, Spain attacked again, with its unchanged tactic (lots of gold for a few tanks), and with the same lack of foresight and strategy.
On a personal note, i have been very disappointed to see long-time "pacifists" shout and bark like any other about national pride, f*cking frenchmen and poor little JaviBoss. So the nice words of Les Paul, "France will never be threatened by Spain", "we are friends" etc were the uttermost hypocrisy...? Unlike many fellow PEACE leaders, i had given a second chance to Spain, i thought it was able to be a honest country, and clever, too. I was wrong, indeed.
UK made me sad, too. We were good neighbours, we had friendly relations (especially with the PCP), and suddenly, they threw a wave of level 4 eBabies on the newspapers and forums to trash-talk about french cowardice, knee bending, weird RL allusions and so on. Well, that definitely wasn't the behaviour i had expected from our old dear rosbeefs.
Though, in war, they weren't too bad. I know their citizen (mainly the newborn ones, nothing surprising) are angry from losing and say it's the government's fault, but honestly, they couldn't do much more. Militarily speaking, UK isn't much stronger than France. They did a lot of "block" battles to bully us and make our life harder, that was their job i guess, while the big guys punched.
Big guys like USA, or so they thought. Being #1 in population (with a flabbergasting babyboom these last weeks, waow) made them a too-obvious leader, theoretically. Their population felt like a duty to be #1 on the battleground, too. But "old" eRepublik players know very well that's illusory. Giving USD and weapons to skill 4 privates wasn't only unefficient, it was a huge mistake.
So they went, they attacked during two days, sure of their strength (didn't we warn them we wouldn't try to fight if it was useless ?), and when we began fighting, they realized it wasn't enough. They had spent gold and weapons for nothing, and had now to be more clever. So they stopped feeding little soldiers, and the entire hey-we're-unbeatable-let's-rock system fell down: their population splitted in two, in a very predictable fashion, and their bloodlust faded.
Whose fault is it then ? Many people blame Benn Dover, their president, for its lack of foresight. Honestly, i don't have a very high opinion of Benn, but i think it's much too easy to blame him only. Just admit the fact that having 5000 newborn citizens is something NO country can bear. They're unaware of what they say, feel confident that they understand while they definitely don't... I guess USA will be a major country in a few months. For now, to me, it's just a very agitated one.
Canada comes next. Oh, well, i know some of you are already laughing... I don't. For sure, they were crushed with barely no resistance. But it takes some bravery to do what they did. They knew they would be the weakest link, they knew a failure would mean a very hard time for them - and still, they fought.
If each Atlantis country had been part of this war, maybe we could laugh at Canada and ask them why they're so weak. Obviously, we shouldn't. What about Argentina or Norway ? What about the good old child-eating monster, named Romania ? They sent soldiers, eh ? Doesn't count. At all. Ask the countries who were engaged if the daily 5x or 6x fights are the hardest part. Definitely not. Some Atlantis countries didn't enter the war; maybe they were right (since this war is a nonsense), but whatever: they weren't in. Therefore, we have no right to laugh at Canada.
Last but not least, Sweden. An unusual country, really. The only one who had a reason, a goal in this war: wood. The only one with an efficient army, with decent weapons stock, with enough gold to survive a trench war. The only one, as far as i know, clever enough to avoid any RL insult. They play the game, rather well in fact. And it's a pleasure to have proud foes like them. Too bad we're not on the same side, eh ? 🙂
But we cannot be on the same side, really: we have our allies, and they kick ass. No no, don't misunderstand me, i won't shift to propaganda or boot-licking. I won't name all of them either. I'll just say i'm immensely happy to be a part of PEACE. This alliance is my pride and joy.
Not because we're overpowere😛
we're not. We don't always agree either. All isn't perfect. But considering how many we are, considering the RL and IG differences (chasms ?), i am impressed, day after day, by the common effort made in this war, by the altruism, the solidarity every single PEACE member displays.
During these two weeks, i saw our links strengthen, tighten, and objectively, i must warn Atlantis (or those who still want war inside Atlantis): we won't be easy to beat. Gold, weapons, population say Atlantis is the best alliance in the eWorld; seen from the inside, i think the statistics are wrong.
And finally, France. When the war started, we were poor, very weak (did we have the lowest average rank in the eWorld ?), and poorly organized. Well, this has changed. We're not a killing machine, we don't want to. But we can stand on our own, as you may have seen on the battleground. Our allies' kind and clever support made us stronger and much more efficient. Thank you, Atlantis, for giving us this opportunity to reveal our inner strength 🙂
PEACE at home, PEACE in the world !

French version
Je me suis donc trompé.

Brillant.
Que de diplomatie 😉
Heu, moi j'attends la version française... 😳
J'ai failli chialer ! Il est fort ce bougre !
;_;
I'm proud to be in Peace!
Really clever analysis.
Indeed, this war was wrong.
Interesting picture 😁
Interesting
Very good!
8| Nice article!
pfff, tu aurais pu faire une VF... 😛
Good and reasonaby accurate article.
Matthieu you almost made me cry 🙂
By the way, I agree, the only opponent I really respect is Sweden.
All the other were full of insults and/or stupidity.
good article, voted!
Manly tears ;_;
We are so arrogant... How dare we (hopefuly) win this war !
voted bro 🙂
I like the way you do not insult our opponents.
This is a game, everyone had fun with this war I guess.
Erepublik is a great world.
PS : I hope this article will be published in the eUSA and in eBritain.
They should read that we are soft spoken.
Respect
A good artikle even though it is written by my enemy ( I´m Swedish). I give you credit for not insulting Atlantis, however Rhone Alps will never be yours again.
If you're going to write an article at least know what you're talking about instead of relying on "wit" and so-called insults.
nice bro
superbe article 😛
Superb article Mathieu!
In English:
We also on our side have learned valuable lessons and next time shall have greater organisation and resources available.
You speak about "UK isn't much stronger than France": you have to be joking I hope! We have 3 times your population!
"I know their citizen (mainly the newborn ones, nothing surprising) are angry from losing and say it's the government's fault, but honestly, they couldn't do much more." Any more patronising and I shoot you personaly lol! However it has served to make an entire new generation of eUK members determined to return and for this I thank Indonesia and not France.
Having said the above great article!

Well, what I can say... I'm from Spain but one can admire a article like this. An interesting analysis of the present war.
Voted, may some atlantis leaders read this and learn something about the current situation.
Thank you for sharing this points.
i'm proud to be a Peace soldier , voted 🙂
😁)))
You trusted Spaniards?! After all that had happened? Big mistake, sir.
Congratulations, with 5 nations at your side you were able to defeat the Americans due largely to bugs.
Even with the divide in America, even with soldiers fighting with their bare fists, the entirety of PEACE just barely managed to edge out the Americans. Enjoy it while it lasts. Give most of the American players another month or two to be brought up to a respectable level (since the boom) and then we'll see where you stand. It was a messy war, mistakes were made, lessons were learned. We won't make the same mistakes again.
Very nice artice,I m proud as well I could do everything and found good new friends and to be a member of such a good alliance.
If need,I will write new articles again,to help our unity🙂
Farewell🙂
Good article actually. Voted.
Oh my I can't stand when this atlantis merry folk start getting on the attitude of MPP-bugs-MPP-bugs-MPP-bugs and so on till you die of old age.
Really guys. Was PEACE the only alliance that actually knew how MPPs worked? Admins clearly stated that how MPPs worked IS NOT A BUG, and it's officially the game coding that acts in that way.
Really, grow up and look at the nearest mirror...
As for the article, magnifico. Brilliant.
Manly tears as well.
And yes, I must admit that Sweden is a formidable enemy. My respect goes to them, it's a shame we're on opposite blocs.
But hey, PEACE at home, PEACE in the world!
I wasn't talking about MPPs, I was talking about the fight bug when Benn and the super soldiers had planned for a major push in the last 2 hours of the center fight only to have bugs screw us out of a victory. Inability to fight due to game errors = bugs.

Admins vs ATLANTIS (the eWW)
Nice fights anyway admins, was fun 🙂
PEACE at home, PEACE in the world !
Voted! Nice Article.
Very good article. Vive PEACE
Great.
voted, i'm proud to be in PEACE ;_;
Not good at all but i'm not here to point out the faults.
Maybe you should have mentioned Switzerland too and the Atlantis hawks, for some of them are the perfect troops for the Minute Men.
You should have added the fortunate malfunctions for France. Strange it seems erepublik will be better on if France still exists. A collectivist like you is participating into a capitalist venture.
No,this was is FAR FROM OVER my dear friends.
I wrote an artice about 1 week ago when a battle for the center and the four pronged attack from ATLANTIS (all failed) was the TURNING POINT) of the war.
But this is the second world war in E-Republk,so if we compare to the real world war,the first victories ----Moscow
The turning pont a week ago---Stalingrad
Now---- (no more USA CANADA and UK) Kursk
But:the most strongest enemies (Sweden and Spain) are ahead us,and then WE MUST LAUNCH AN INVASION AGAINST USA to teach them a lesson they never forget.
THEY MUST PAY A FEE for this agreesion.
Yes, yes, attack the USA, let me laugh a bit.
Without US adminis you've got a chance to win.
Very nice article ... At last an article with common sense and no antipathic sayings. I feel actually like this war gave us fun and a reason to play! Even more ... It rose our ability to fight, we earned experience definitly.
yop
