Interview with Bob Boblo

Day 754, 13:33 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by bowen199
bowen199: For those who don’t know, who are you?
Bob Boblo: I'm a former cabinet minister and PCP PP. who is now something of a sleeping kraken.

bowen199: What do you like about erepublik? ?
Bob Boblo: For one, It fulfils two rare things that I like, its a political game, and its a UK political system where the left and centre-left have a voice prosper with it! The community is good too; there is a lot of good patter on the irc and forums.

bowen199: Have you ever served in the military? ?
Bob Boblo: Yes, I was a lazy royal guard officer, a lazy para and the Royal Navy Mascot

bowen199: What was it like?
Bob Boblo: In the royal guard I just spouted out copy and paste orders and forgot to actually do any fighting. In the paras I did nothing. The mascot bit, that was my great military achievement, by virtue of default. I often found the Navy were a hard force, that needed a push a bit harder and deeper to get the most satisfying results. I believe I rallied them to do that.

bowen199: Why did you first join the PCP?
Bob Boblo: Well, I am a leftist and am sympathetic to communism in real life, even if I'm quite moderate. But of course, back in May 2008, PCP weren't just a good party they were THE party. As Shadow grappled with the troubles of a useless inactive UKRP cabinet, PCP and TUP drove for change, but t this stage PCP were miles ahead of their moderate counterparts in terms of ideas, activity etc.

bowen199: Fondest memory of PCP?
Bob Boblo: Well, there is a few. Obviously PCP coming into power in June 2008 was fantastic, but I'd say that whole 3-4 month period about a month after I joined when PCP were the de facto dominant party, and a lot of greatest members were around, or had registered to eRepublik at a similar time to me. I think me, Stan, Bremer, Tim09, 03samg all joined that May, and we had just got all the great TRP expats, Frufru, Piperbunny and Flamur, on time of the partys founding fathers; Ip, KIA, twaters and Sohir. Those were great days, and when we beat Dish in the September election, it was a pretty epic swansong.

Also, I'm really sad about the position the party is in now, and I really feel I am more to for it blame than else for it, so seeing all you new guys coming in and really pushing for a revival is another thing that I find really great.

bowen199: How did bobolism originate?
Bob Boblo: The origins of Bobloism is me being an attention seeker and people running with it. All my exhibitionist and immature tendencies are all channelled into my internet personas, so to speak; Bob Boblo is a mythical figure detached even from myself. There is a lot to admire about him, despite him being a very flawed individual, and a bit immature. Maybe that resonates with people. Or maybe they just got bored of Dio. It makes no difference either way because Taytaz is the true king of spam.

bowen199: Are there any features you would like to see added to the game or improved?
Bob Boblo: Yes; PvP. It would mean players, such as I, with extraordinary wit are given an excuse to espouse hilarious comments of derision at the expense of our counterparts. And lets face it, in a boring text based war, attacking a person is a lot more fun that shooting a wall.

bowen199: Can you reveal one fact about yourself that many erepublik players would never be able to guess?
Bob Boblo: I'm sterile.
