I digress..

“Oh, I don’t know. That digression business got on my nerves. I don’t know. The trouble with me is, I like it when somebody digresses. It’s more interesting and all.”

― J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye

Just a few thought I had recently...
Lets take alliances as a child's game. Im your friend and so is Tom but my friend Jerry dont like you. And Jim wants to kill you.

Why the USA is now apparently free picking is exactly that.

Lets call it the Asterian schism or the Asterian multi personality disorder in eRepublik terms they have a bout of Kattiaa.

Small country politics is now cast in stone in most small countries

Lets take for example Ireland. All parties range in size between 8 to 20 people and everyone votes for his own party. Which begs the question what happened to politics?

Lets take a concrete example the Lithuanian attack on the USA.

Now we all might think naturally that we must resist it yet dont have the firepower or money to make a difference. Our allies are not on our side if we defend US territories.

Therefore I think we start to gain an appreciation of what shall we call it an impasse.

We know the attack is wrong yet we also know we cant really do anything about it. So as long as Lithuania drifts past us onto the USA.

Our own political system has reached the same impasse. Agreement or disagreement(mostly)debates articles comments and lobbying will not have any effect on any decision made.

I think his truly highlights a flaw in the game as it relates to small country politics.

The same thing we see with alliances. The Usa was always protected because atleast there was some kind of structure to Asteria. Like a mob one could hit certain countries and loosely affiliated countries were never attacked. It seems that days are over...everyone can now do what he wants. Romania et Serbia uber alles. The rest of the alliance and sub alliances is just the jokers in the alliance meant to entertain their masters.

In the end the problem with politics is we all know the minority is sometimes right but the heck with that we wont have that (correct) crap.
