How Every eRepublikan Can Own All 5 Houses

Come On Up To The House (Mandatory listening)
Day 2578 of the New World
11 December, 2014

It is my view that every eRepublikan should own 5 houses.

Yes, all five of them

“But Gnilraps, you elitist tycoon, how are we supposed to afford that?” Come on, let me hear you all ask it…

Well, for one thing, starting on January 12th, you will all have at least some more currency to play with. So that’s a good thing.

Also, the Q1 house is actually an income-producing entity.

So we are only really talking about the affordability of owning the Q2, Q3, Q4, and Q5 houses. For the remainder of this article, I will refer to them as the High Q houses, or HQ.

At current market prices, This is the equation you are looking at:

Now I admit that this is a dauntingly large amount of cash. If you cannot afford that amount, then you should at least consider implementing my strategy with the houses that you can afford while possibly saving up for the one that you cannot.

But for the sake of this article, let’s assume that you’ve managed to purchase all 5 Houses. I want to explain to you the optimal method for their use. And by the end of this article I hope to have convinced you that all 5 Houses will have paid for themselves.

Because you are already implementing your Q1 house as a means for generating Overtime Pay, I will be excluding it from consideration. If you do not understand why I say that you are implementing your Q1 house in this way, make sure you understand this article by current Secretary of the Treasury what4.

Let’s first review the increased health limit you will have by owning the HQ houses.

And so the first important point of owning the HQ houses is the potential to store 1060 more energy.

Why does this matter? There are several answers.

First, if you are interested in maximizing your Prestige Points each week – a practice which definitely increases your income by the achievement of higher and better prizes, you will be able to generate more energy while you sleep, while you work, while you are at school, or while you are enduring the agony of some meaningless conversation about “feelings” that your girlfriend insists you bear while all the while you are thinking about your health timer and eating some of your Q5 food…

Second, even if you are not anal retentive about never missing a single bit of your potential energy recovery, you can still benefit by having more available energy to fight with when you do log in. This is going to result in an increased damage potential. And starting next January, increased damage means increased currency via True Patriot medals.

And if you are an aggressive fighter, you already know that having a larger tank of available energy makes the Battle Hero medal that much easier to make.

So if houses were free, everyone would surely want to use them. But they aren’t free.

How much do HQ houses actually cost?

Not as much as you think. Possibly nothing at all!

Each house begins its life with 168 hours. So right off the top, the cost of owning them is defrayed by the overtime hours they enable you to work. Exactly how much?

So already our HQ houses are reduced in cost to $4565. Still a bit unmanageable, but we’re getting there.

The good news is that you don’t have to try to budget $4,565 per week in order to use your HQ houses.

Because Houses can be activated and deactivated. And this fact is what makes HQ house ownership even more affordable.

Remember, Houses begin with 168 hours of potential life. Running them 24/7 and never deactivating them would obviously lead to the need for you to budget the full amount in order to afford them.

But there is a strategy to keeping your HQ houses only activated when you absolutely need them. And as you will see, this will drastically reduce their cost.

It does not matter how much base potential energy you have. With a Q1 house activated, I have 800. Some of you likely only have 700. Whatever.

Remember to include your Q1 house in your base total because it needs to run 24/7. But you should never keep your HQ houses activated while you are charging your base energy. If so, you are wasting your HQ houses. Remember, you are not running the HQ houses for overtime tickets. You will earn those tickets as you activate them, but the overtime tickets you earn are nothing more than a bonus they award you to help defray the cost.

So point #1: Never activate your HQ houses while you are charging your base energy. And this point remains equally in effect when you are charging your second “backup” charge of energy. But there is a nuance…

Once you have charged at or near your base energy, you “eat food”. So now I would have a full charge of 800 energy and my “backup” charge is building. On Tuesdays before I’ve reached 500 Prestige Points and double energy recovery, it means that I can deactivate my houses for around 16 straight hours. In reality, you likely don’t hit 500 Prestige Points until sometime Wednesday afternoon (we assume no tanking) or even Thursday morning. All eRepublikans should catch up on sleep on Monday and Tuesday nights 🙂

But before you go and fight with all 1600 energy, STOP. Activate your HQ houses and Eat Food. Now, instead of 800 base energy, I have 1330x2 = 2660 max energy and I have another 10 hours to wait until it hits its maximum. However I do not even need to burn my HQ houses for all 10 of these hours. When I activated and ate, my “backup” energy fell to 270. This is around 5 hours of recovery before I hit my 800 base. So my HQ houses get deactivated (*see this important note below) and only reactivated when I need to accumulate the last 530 energy to completely fill up my 2660 maximum. (**Also see this important note.) In other words you will not lose your bonus energy when you deactivate your houses. It will look like this:

*Important note: Your houses calculate available hours in 1 hour increments… they will not retain partial hours.

**Other Important note: If you are able to reactivate your houses one by one only as needed, this entire method further decreases the overall weekly cost of HQ Houses.

So if you begin the week at Monday/Tuesday reset with 0 energy (obviously every week is different. This is just our example), you will hit double energy Thursday at 0500. You will have used only 12 of your HQ House hours.

By the end of 7 days, without tanking, you will have used up about 38 hours of each HQ house. You will have, without spending any energy bars, hit about 1,680 Prestige Points, putting you just 70 Prestige Points away from the 1750 prize. (7 EB per week is what we get anyway).

Here is what the week just described would look like represented graphically:

Some notes on this model:
1: Some “slush” time has been built into the model to account for missed deadlines. It is unrealistic that most of you want to be a slave to the clock for this game. So the above chart does have some “inaccuracies” that are designed to allow for some leeway.

2: Obviously you may not dump all of your damage before reset on Monday night. This is just a model.

3: This model does not attempt to account for all of the eating of food you will likely do in a week. It only shows the times when eating food is part of the strategy for using HQ houses.

4: In reality, you may have to activate your houses early because of your schedule. Once you get the hang of how the mechanics of this system work, though, you can get pretty good at surfing the curve. You shouldn’t need to burn much more than 40 hours of HQ per week. It is quite possible to burn much less.

Now let’s get back to that point about how you will have used up about 38 hours of each HQ house. This means that each HQ house, using this method, should be able to remain useful for about 4 weeks and 3 days.

We determined that the HQ houses cost $4565. If we factor in the length of their usefulness, your weekly budget for HQ houses is only $1,037. This is almost exactly the value of a Medal.

Can you earn one medal per week? With an extra 1060 available energy to put into each BH effort, and with the added overall damage you will do each week... I'll bet you can.

And so you can afford to own all 5 houses.

To review:

During 10 Energy recovery per hour, you will consume under 5 hours of HQ functionality per day.

In the course of a week you will consume under 40 hours of HQ functionality.

HQ Houses should last almost 4.5 weeks before needing to be replaced.

HQ Houses are affordable to many more eRepublikans than are currently using them.
