HEY! ADMIN!
Thedillpickl
Hi kids!
As the media is dead I would like to repost my comment to J.Canuck's article.
In a twisted way this is amusing. The Admins promoted the dictator thing like it was the best change ever. For YEARS people have been grumbling about the dumming down of the game. Remove the skill levels, fix it so everyone can have companies, make that so simple a monkey could run a commune, kill the media (that did come back, sort of, but of it's own accord) and then they "fix" the political mod. The one last place where people could interact. You'd have to be a dimwit to believe that people are here only to buy gold so they could poke more buttons. Admin, I have two words for you to chew on, SOCIAL INTERACTION!
I enjoyed coercing 65 employees to work first, then fight. I sent gifts to those that screwed up and bonuses to those that worked with me. I spent 2 hours a day answering PMs. I also developed a small network of friends that owned corporations. It was a blast... but then you killed the econ so that it was more fair. It was so "fair" that no one could do anything without buying gold. The overproduction lingers today.
I enjoyed writing articles about various things. I gained some international attention. People PM'ed me to discuss things outside of the game. Again, it was a blast. Then you decided that people could no longer "see" foreign newspapers without really digging. You took the comment alerts away for awhile so no one could tell if there was a reply to their comment. Comments (votes and subscribers) became irrelevant. At least you put comment alerts back.
I started my own MU. It was amazing to me that I attracted people for no special reason other than "they liked me". We did lots of stuff together and again I was helping MU mates just like when I ran my companies. Then that became old hat. Simple "mash the fight button" wasn't enough. Suddenly it wasn't just Romper that intimidated the fight page. He built himself the old fashioned way, by spending hours fighting (yes he bought gold but he also spent time).
Then I started playing politics which seemed to help some in my MU have something to do. We reached our limits in the US and moved on. Switzerland was too easy, too fast and had a bunch of crybabies so we moved to Canada. Finally able to have a little success I broke onto the international scene. Doesn't matter if you appreciated my efforts or not I did change some things. Again, I also had a blast.
Now the party's over. Say what you will Admin but the day is coming that you won't make enough to keep the lights on. Time for the eternal headless chicken. Sucks that I spent so much real money trying to find some fun this last couple years but alas that was my choice. You will have to do a major rework to have any chance of changing my mind. Something you've never done was backtrack but you had better reconsider. Get rid of the dictator mod, it's an anchor around your neck. Try doing some stuff to the econ mod to spice the game up. You want to stir people up and fix a major flaw? Do away with Work as Manager. You've piddled with that using House Factories and HRM.
That's it, I'm done ranting. Not that it ever does any good as Admin only cares about one thing, the bottom line. Unfortunately for all I fear the "bottom line" may be getting thin soon and our free browser game may get dumped.
Kind of my long ass way of saying "I told you so!".

the best was they promised q6 and q7 houses with energy recovery, now they say "they will never introduce them"
I wouldn't blame admins for all. The fact is that the game is getting older, but also players are getting older. Most of us started playing erep as teenagers - age ~1*. Now players spent less time, as they have studies/work/family etc.
The problem that is almost impossible to keep the level of atractiveness of any browser game for long time. As time goes, older players walk away and less&less newbies are able to fill their place. The gap is too big - erep became elite club, with few old ppl (look e.g. Rylde) taking all the main fun-part of game, leaving clicking and slave pits for newbies.
Now to blame admins - they don't help to fill this gap. They want to drain as much $$$ is possible, as long erep gives some real revenue for them. Maybe they lost dedication to his project, maybe they don't have more ideas for it, maybe they want but they screw unwittingly, I don't know.
Every time someone says my name i get paid in royalties. So thx.

Yeah to many mistakes made by the admin especially with the economy pushing the game towards pay to play for success. If you can even call it success.
I miss my Q2food company Ryldes red ale tightening wages and production to turn a small profit. Sad when ya think about it but was all i had and it was fun.
I remember Rylde's Red Ale! And I don't remember much anymore.
yeah it was cool just developing your own brand and name. I used to shout for people to buy my red ale. Alas just another small little thing that was done away with.
Glad someone else remembers Rylde's red.
Voted, very good!

well, a great article, with great views about the game.
the admins should listen to what you're saying, because it would help the game from its current decline.
also:
i used to be fairly active in the political scene of e-switzerland, but now with the dictatorship mod on, everything went havoc.
the e-romanian MU's have invaded e-switzerland and when they dont destroy e-switzerland, they do a ''party takeover'' by taking over every single party of the e-country, thus making it impossible for a e-swiss player to win ANY elections, let it be PP, congressman, or (ofcourse) CP.
some might say that ''this was happening and BEFORE the dictator update was added into the game'', and i will say sure, it did, but NOW, with the dictatorship update on, everyone who owns a Mu and a bunch of dedicated,(rich), and skilled players can invade any country that they want, in case the ''party takeover'' fails.
and dont make me talk about the ''boost the economy'' days, awful stuff...
you rock dillpickl!
you speak true words, and you are a great person.
never change!
Good thing the new "Complaint Pack" is coming. For 9.99 the Complaint Pack files a "This game Sucks" ticket on your behalf every day for 30 days. Your ticket is also guaranteed to reach "Urgent status" usually only afforded the games top gold buyers.
Complain just like a platinum member, buy the new Complaint Pack. Complaining has never been this easy or less effective.
They have dumb the game down to the point that there is nothing interesting or strategic left to do.

i just read every single one and theyre all correct you a**hole
Well said.
For the "pay to play" to work it needs to have something that is worth playing for, but with the community dying and the camaraderie collapsing, I have to say I see little left.
The mechanics and build in gameplay of this game has never been that great, and is now just pretty bad. Why on earth would anyone pay for "fame and glory" when there is hardly any community left to care about such things.
I had once hoped they would sell the game to some other gamehouse that would invest, but I think that opportunity has also passed.
A shame. We had something great for a while.
For once we are in complete agreement.
Good stuff. You expressed my thoughts better than I would've.
Alass, I suspect admins are just trying to squeez the last coins from the game before it dies.
Oh snap :/
