Everybody is everybody’s friend

Everybody is everybody’s friend
After two years of only pushing a few buttons I came back to a more active way of playing the game. A lot of things changed in those years. The rules for working in your own companies the wages which are gastronomical but also the military model is different with air fights.
Last week I started to have a closer look at the map and analyse the current alliances. Our president asked congress about MPP’s and I owed it to myself to at least give an answer with some knowledge of the current eBalance of the world and where I see my own country.
At the time I left the game the world saw two big alliances with Poland and Serbia on opposite sides. That came after a boring but prosperous time of the TWO. I was at the heart of the break down from TWO and forming of Asteria and Sirius. I forgot about the little satellite alliances who had a pro status. It was never really going to be a long lasting situation as the of dividing Poland and Serbia in to different sides was forced upon people for the sole purpose of creating more fun battles and didn’t take into account that economically speaking both countries would bare consequences. The struggle to get Greece in either camp was legendary. The Serbian side won the battle for Greece and Poland by that mathematically sirius was doomed. I guess it happened somewhere in the two years I didn’t pay attention.
MPP stacks
MPP’s schematic
If you look at the MPP stack of the UK we see that we have MPP’s in both Orion, which is our own alliance and Asterie the linked Alliance. We also have a few neutral countries signed due to long standing relations more than anything else. Yesterday we also signed one with Lithuania and I suspect we will be seeking out one or two more within Pacifica to add to the list.
It would be the most logical choice if you see most of the others countries who can afford it. Their MPP’s are of 3 major poles, Their own alliance plus the two other major ones and sometimes even a fourth.
Based on the MPP’s and the consequent wars I see appearing there isn’t much conflict going on. Except a big surprise for me to see Greece and Romania divided. Once they were tightly linked with Argentina. Another surprise to see is that Croatia, Turkey and Spain don’t belong anywhere. Although I can see Greece protecting Croatia and Spain having their usual MPP’s secured in Poland as well as Serbia.
Two countries, Greece and Argentina having the most active battles even with old friends. All other wars are battles over resource occupation by the big boys or training wars to give their people something to do.
Lack of real war
I say that lack of real wars is a bad thing for the game and people’s spirits because there is nothing to lose or to gain.
- there is no common goal
- people create infighting because malcontent
- there isn’t much to write about in the media
- mediocre CP’s arrive because the good ones getting bored of sitting on their hands
I sincerely hope that over the course of the next month's the major players in the big alliances are going to sit across each other and talk about this. I realise that over the years citizens, countries forged bonds that are not easily broken and with the game mechanics how they stand now it is not easy to get a whole nation to fight a certain way but if we don’t want to die of boredom something needs to happen.
I also wish for the UK to be part of these talks. We may not have the military power to brag but we still have a few decent tacticus amongst us. If the internal politics don’t get messed up like they usually do in this country it should be possible. Hell in the past the UK was at the heart of breaking and building alliances. If anything we have past experience.

Agreed! 🙂

Yes, I got mentioned 🙂
you are an eternal dictator. Come to think of it...you should change your name in dictator9 😃
The teams may change but the score will be the same.
Ultimately the game needs to change in order to create a different play style. Otherwise we will eventually get the same outcome as the past 3-4 years. TWO unleashed a monster upon the eWorld.
ah but as long the battles were going on it was glorious!
Best memory i have of this game was during the frst EPIC comp that happened whie TWO and CoT were at war. Thousands of TWO players, all sitting around waiting for the battle to turn epic and then just smashing it over 50% andjust holding it there regardless of what CoT were doing. Only alliance I can say i really felt apart of. It did ruin the game though lol.
I'm worried that I'm agreeing with someone from the wrong UK_P. The web of alliances and MPPs has become so convoluted that, with the exception of Asteria keeping South America subjugated, the world has an outbreak of peace. Nice for the politicos, maybe, but dull for the average player.
One day we will AS eSingapore, I promise you!
Have to remove Poland first. 😉
[removed]
We will help Singapore to get liberated...and than we attack them!
Don't worry, I never really was a good domestic player and will not get involved in inter party fights. What I analyse or do in the game is for all UK and it is on each his own to see it as beneficiary or just throw it in the bin 🙂
To be honest, the little money/gold I have I would be willing to spend to make things more interesting but I haven't had a brilliant idea nor have I seen any passing by lately. Invading some country without back up isn't worth spending money on, not with the UK anyway. We are just so damn little disciplined 😃
I've tried hard not to get too involved in the inter-party stuff in the past. Unfortunately there have been too many occasions when I've found that to be all but impossible. I'd like to think that I have friends in pretty much all the major parties, however, regardless of party policy or "heated debate". 🙂
I'm convinced that, if we had more national unity, got everyone fighting in the same direction, we might actually be able to do something interesting. Unfortunately that's not the eUK way. 😛
funnily enough...
Don't sell yourself short mitte, you were a great domestic player. many times you took me to one side when I was a newb and gave me encouragement and advice, I've never forgotten that. The eUK is lucky to have you back, regardless of the fact you are a dirty UKRPer...
I don't want to be the long winded ass (OK, I'm lying, whatever) but here's my view.
Long time ago I happened on an interesting, multifaceted browser game. I became interested in the strategies of the econ and developed friendships along those lines. I was able to do quite well selling Q2 food, whipping my minions into shape, even started marketing my wares in other countries using the new market licenses. Ended up with 2 factories, several graineries and at one point 65 employees. I had a ball helping people build their own companies or getting started on a military careers. eLife was good.
Now to more modern times. I've about done it all. Managed a small MU. 🙂 Ran my own commune. Several trips on the eUSA Congress merry go round, which is no mean feat. CP in 3 different countries. Also was quite popular in foreign affairs. Finally, thanks to being overly indulgent in spending, became a nice little tank and had a ball going up against some of the big boys. Sometimes I actually won! lol
I guess I'm looking at things in light of the "glory years". It just seems different now. The people that made the game interesting are vanishing or have already left. Admin has invented so much squirrelly crap that I gave up trying to figure it out. i.e. I don't have any idea what a residence is, why I need one or how to do it. They have succeeded in my opinion. About 5 or 6 years ago Admin trashed the statistics that were multipliers. For example: I was guru*** in manufacture of food. That meant when I worked 45% (I think) greater production that a beginner. Similar effect for military, etc. You had to make choices back then to make benefits for your account to specialize in what you wanted to become. Short version, the game had strategy and was not terribly easy to play well. Admin declared they would make the game easy and fair so thst anyone could play. What happened was that no one could be successful unless they bought gold.
(Sorry for the wall.)
Point is that only the meta game, mostly politics and military units/alliances were fun because they depended on people actually thinking and using strategy. Of course Admin has done what he can to destroy that by adding more political stuff and military things to control what the game allows.
Anyhow, you were a jewel amongst rough stones my dear. My advantage to have known you.
You are too kind
I think we can go on and on about glory days, that is what old people do 😉 I came back for I missed my friends when I saw them again if that makes any sense.
Against better judgement part of the old players base keeps hoping admin sees the light and in the mean time we have build decent and half decent accounts which are hard to part with too. I don't know, maybe I just want to give it one more try for the X'th time and that is why I wasted a few hours filling in gdocs and contacting people who might be able to fill in the gap I left for two years. I can tell you the latter was cheer impossible to do. Although my thanks to BaKaRas and Costin for replying!
ok and btw
How long was this bet for Pickle?
You're just a little brown-nosed pickle, aren't ya? 😂
@mitte, would be nice if admin would stop trying to control every blinking thing. They can't seem to figure out why people went to forums, then irc, now the various gaming talk things. I keep waning off and on. I've determined that it is not good for me to take any jobs. I can disappear for 3 or 4 days without noticing. lol
Anyhoo, glad you're back. Gives me reason to linger on. I hope we all are rewarded with a game that rips you out of bed at 4am because some important event is due to happen.

About 2 weeks.
Latvia? We signed an MPP with Lithuania, which is Asteria...
my bad you are correct it is Lithuania
I get enough of this IRL, but now people in eRep think we're the same country, too :'(
Go back in the Baltic Sea!
At least we still have access to the sea, yours declared independence!
30 years ago you were... along with half of central Asia and much of eastern Europe. Back in the USSR! 😉
Jokes on you, 30 years ago we weren't a country at all, so we couldn't have been confused with Latvia.
I don't have anything to add... (goes in the corner to cry looking at the map of the medieval Serbian Empire 😢 )
You a Lithuanian, Roachford?
I am deeply sorry 🙁
@Panonian: I know that feel, bro...
@Mitte: I forgive you... this time...
@Wayne: yeah, though I lived in Sweden for a while now.
The wifey is from Klapedia!
Same here, actually!
Surprised to hear you're married, though: figured you'd be way too young for that irl.
not technically married, but been together for 7 years so might as well be! I can't really get away with being an immature prick irl, so I have to settle for doing it on the internet!
I'll be in Klapedia end of this month. Think we will just miss the Sea festival though.
Fair enough, makes sense.
Personally I don't think you'll miss much since I never liked the sea festival myself, but that could be because I lived where they'd set up the bazaar right under my windows and I had to deal with that shit for 4 days 😛
All I ever do during the Sea Festival is get really drunk and offend someone with my Englishness! tbh, it's all I ever seem to do when I'm in LT is drink and turn my nose up at food!
My missus used to live near the Acropolis (or howerer it is spelt), in those Soviet Union style tower blocks, proper commie stylee!
Good post, I also believe the eUK needs to focus on helping on new players, not only will that help people be more active, but enable them to help more in wars and give us all a sense of direction that we seem to be lacking.
probem is, new players are thin on the ground. the emphasis really should be on new guys introducing themselves on the scene, making themseves heard and seen.
the reward nowadays for players to spend their hours searching for and interacting with new players is so small it's just not worth the effort. A hit rate of 1 in 25 lasting longer than 3 months would be considered a great return.
My advice to all new players is to get involved on feeds, in posts, shouts, articles, comments, make yourselves seen and heard, you will be noticed and people will pay attention to you.
Welcome back mitte, you're a breath of fresh air in any diplomatic discussion! 🙂
