End of the Line

Day 2,842, 18:45 Published in Canada Canada by Molly Jo

Civil War
The battle of Democracy vs Dictatorship has begun, I'm sure some might be interested in my stance on the matter, but I find myself with no comment either way. It was kind of something many saw coming, so not particularly surprised it happened, and given I decided weeks ago I had no intentions of touching the emergency money, I see nothing else to do but watch the fight.

That being said I've decided to release this final term paper a bit early, which of course means it's going to be different from what I planned it to be. I was going to collect a bunch of cabinet statements, I might still edit those in but for now decided I'd do a bit of a cabinet review in my own words. And wrap it up with my own general take on the term, and a little of why I made certain decisions.

Cabinet Review

Aries Prime: Aries did what I wanted him to do, he had insight, advice and took part in major cabinet discussions, all the things one expects from the Vice President/Deputy Prime Minister. Did we agree on everything, probably not, that be weird if we did, but he met my expectations so glad he was apart of the term.

Mann551: One of my opponents in the CP race that I won by oddity, and speaking honestly I was supposed to be his MoFA if he'd won, and sure when I originally offered him Chief of Staff I never imagined I'd win, but I don't regret it. Long ago I got to be a Vice President to see how the CP/PM job worked, and even if Mann never runs for the job again, I wanted to let him be apart of this and he did well in my opinion. He also wrote a nice paragraph about the term which you'll see later in this article 🙂

TheSocialistChicken: Offered a few comments along the way, I felt he could have done more but oh well.

Xichael: He was awesome, he joined as the representative to our allies, and did much more, gave advice on foreign affairs, defense and budgetary matters. Xichael is one of the cabinet members that helped make this term go, and I appreciate it, so even if you don't like him he deserves respect.

I-Bleed-Blue-93: IBB signed on as an adviser, and became the public face of foreign affairs, although the task was often a cabinet wide matter, which was the plan from when I threw my cabinet together, that being said I thank him for joining and the advise he gave when he gave it.

Darth Zigus My somewhat over enthusiastic, at times pain in the butt MoD, but as he said when he got the job he was learning as he went, so I think he did a good job. I can't say he's the first MoD I hired with no experience as an MoD, but Darth did a good job, with only minor bumps along the way, and his review article is quite nice. Even if we never did get him that coffee he kept demanding from his deputies 😃

Thedillpickl: dill offered his fair share of advise, in all cabinet matters, even brought a little humor to the term with a few of his articles and comments, he was a nice addition to the cabinet.

Exalted Drui😛 ED like Xichael and dill despite his title at the start of term offered a wide range of advise on various cabinet matters, he was one of the cabinets most active, and like others that put in a lot of work I appreciate his effort as much as I do the others.

TimmKruz: Probably could have done more like the Chicken, but truthfully Finances from the perspective of public record was ignored. Privately we had a budget of 12 MPPs, that's what we spent, I've never done Finance work so I have no idea what we made, just a rough estimate that we made more then we spent.

Hotelier: he gave advise at times, wrote up a new welcome message that got lost in congress, wrote some articles, and only he can tell you what his deputies did as he chose to work with them separately, truthfully that sounds messy now that I put it into words, but I do appreciate his work this term.

Foxfire: Helped with the first update of the term, but also became the controller and I never asked for much write up wise after that first update, as I wrote both War updates myself. I will note from my time as IP PP, Foxfire put in effort to try to motivate the IP/CW congress members to vote on stuff.

Cabinet as a whole: Considering I threw my entire cabinet together the day of elections and in the days after in some cases, I'm proud of what they helped me do during this term, and appreciate all the effort given, it may seem overstated but to me I can't thank them enough. No offense to any members of the cabinets I had in Australia, but this group was the best cabinet I worked with.

Message from the Chief of Staff
This past month, I was Chief of Staff for the Molly Jo administration. Overall I feel that this month went pretty well for it being a surprise to everyone in the cabinet. That being said, we took a few days and created some plans of what we wanted to do for this month, and got right to work. When we saw an opportunity to help some of our allies and give some war to our own citizens, we took that opportunity, attacking the U.K. And then we went into Ireland later for the Winner Takes it All tournament afterwards. Although there may have been some rough points, I don't think anyone can sanely say that this was a horrible term, and in fact I believe that many people would say this was one of the better months we have had for activity and the such.

Wrap Up Thoughts
Was it the greatest term ever, not likely. I went into this term after winning a race I never expected to win, and in the early days of term I made some decisions I had no intention of breaking or going back on. We did not spend any of the nest egg money, we did not argue with congress' decision to lower taxes, and we did our best to provide this country with things to do without committing national suicide or intentionally pissing off our allies. We went to war with the UK after the opportunity presented itself, our allies helped us on this front greatly as previously stated. We next went to war with Ireland largely for the tournament after Rylde jumped the gun and proposed that on his own, but the cabinet still decided to go through with it.

On the note of that war, as has come out Ireland wanted us to block and truthfully I considered it, however a number of things changed that decision. The manner in which Ireland's leadership began to speak to me, the fact that Slovenia is our ally and ultimately I do not believe it is wise to screw over an ally, so while Ireland may be a friend of Canada, we have obligation to our allies, and in the end Ireland will be fine anyway, they may not like it, but it is what it is. We didn't like when Macedonia came in to Canada via Ireland, but we never made a public dispute of that displeasure, as members of Ireland did to us over Slovenia. Ultimately if Ireland wants to consider me a Devil Woman, whatever I've been called worse in my time in this game.

In the end, I stuck with my decisions, including a personal decision to take a few more risks, while it wasn't the greatest risk ever going to war with the UK knowing I didn't intend to tap into Canada's reserves was still a bit of a risk and without our allies and key members of Canada throwing up a few CO's it could have backfired majorly. SO while some might say this term sucked or wasn't exciting enough, I personally am proud of it given I never expected to be serving it.

The Final Note I will make, the decision I made to pay for the MPP with the Netherlands came primarily because the respect they gave in requesting it and that they were willing to help pay part of it on our side. Also truthfully my friend Cody said I should do it because he was CP there once, and had already vouched for Aries and Tonie [who in the end sent me 5k after I proposed the MPP] So while they may not be the strongest of allies, the Netherlands has some cool people who fought hard for us against the UK.

Signed,
her Majesty Molly Jo, eternal leader of Canada and all her colonies
