Economic Report I January [MoF]

Day 789, 12:05 Published in Norway Norway by Evleos
From the Ministry of Finance
16. January

This is a weekly article by the Ministry of Finance created with the help of Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Immigration. It will make information regarding .e.g. public spending, economic development and tax revenue more accessible to the public.

The backbone for public spending is tax revenue. Our daily stream of tax revenue is monitored by the ministry, giving us precise estimates, enabling us to improve our budgetary planning. The average daily tax income for the last week was 1521 NOK (18,252 gold). This gives us monthly revenue of 547.56 gold, which is 252 gold short of the ca 800 gold budget eNorway has been following the last three months. However, our data suggests that the daily tax revenue is increasing, closing the aforementioned gap.

Liquidity situation
In order to shed proper light on the liquidity situation of congress, the ministry monitors directly The Bank of Norway which it manages, and the in-game eNorwegian treasury. I convert all the numbers into gold for easier reference.

This curve is affected by the daily tax revenues, the value of our NOK reserves and by payments from The Bank of Norway and in-game treasury to other entities. There have been no movements in NOK for this respective period, thus any relative decline is due to these expenses:

08.jan 8333 NOK transferred to the Ministry of Industry.
09.jan 50 gold transferred to the Ministry of Defense.
10.jan 100 gold spent at a defense treaty.
11.jan 100 gold spent at a defense treaty.
12.jan The Ministry of Immigration has transferred 10 gold to The Bank of Norway.
15.jan The Allied Forces: 70 gold.

Ministry of Industry
The Ministry of Industry led by Mongis is tasked with running public companies - currently Universal Healthcare. During the last week we have seen a large increase in the amount of productivity points per day, from about 60-70 to ca 130 – 140. This is thanks to Mongis and his team of workers increasing the average wellness among hospital employees, reaching the optimal number of 20 workers reached and generally having more skilled workers.

Currently Universal Healthcare spends less than 20 days on each hospital, up from earlier projections of more than a month.

This increased rate of production also increases the amount of resources needed by the Ministry of Industry. The budget of November - December (http://www.erepublik.no/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=2129) allocated 100 gold per month to the MoI, a number that is much too small. At max rate of production Universal Healthcare will need about 365 gold pr month.

Calculations by the Ministry of Industry:

“Diverse regnestykker😃aglig lønn (om alle jobber): 845 NOK
Daglig produktivitet (tatt fra arbeidere og deres wellness i skrivende stund): 137,28
1 produktivitet koster da: 845/137,28 = 6.1553 NOK
Kost: 6.1553 NOK x 2000 = 12310 NOK

I tillegg til dette kommer wood-kostnader:
Det trengs 2000 * 5 = 10000 enheter wood
Vi har wood dealer som tar 1.4 gold per 150 enheter: 10k/150 = 66.67
66.7 *1,4G = 93.34 Gold

Kostpris: 12310 NOK
+93.34 gold (wood)”

Each hospital will thus cost us about 241.06 gold.

I must stress that staffing Universal Healthcare with the optimal number of workers (20) and encouraging the workers to have a high level of wellness as Mongis has done, makes for cheaper hospitals and a richer eNorway.

Immigrasjonsverket
Immigrasjonsverket had about 760 NOK + gifts and food (about 40NOK) in storage last Thursday. Our historical data is of limited use, due to the theft of this support organization by the foreign goon Harald I. Under the new leadership of Scorpicus Immigrasjonsverket is doing its proper job of helping new eNorwegians left and right. For a list of who receives donations, check out: http://www.erepublik.com/en/citizen/donate/list/1464467/1.

C.f. the previous budget, Immigrasjonsverket is to receive 1250 NOK/15 gold monthly.

Ministry of Defense
The Ministry of Defense currently has a monthly budget of 200 gold, which is paid in packages of 50 gold each Sunday. This week the ministry has spent most of its budget on arms supporting Eden. For more details, check out Terje Hansen’s report http://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0AY8zOZia47W4ZHBua2RrdF8yaG1iZzJxZzc&hl=en and if you want to see who has received what:

Other Expenses
- eNorway is to contribute 30g monthly to The Allied Forces.
- Mutual Protection Pacts (4 pacts a month, 400 gold).
There are probably some other expenses that I am not aware of yet.

A possible budget
Tax Revenue 548
Mutual Protecion Pacts -400
Defense -200
Hospital Production -365
Child Support -15
The Allied Forces -30
Sum -462

This deficit is large, but the bulk of it is temporary – hospital production. After we have built enough hospitals for ourselves, and perhaps have one for storage, this expense post will disappear, either thru the selling of new hospitals or due to closing down hospital production. This is however not to say that some adjustments are not needed. National coffers are being drained – adjustments are needed.
