yeah, they usually (partially) clean themselves that way, or in cases also apply licking to wound (which nevertheless is not recommended to have a wound treated that way). With cats, they even use lick their paw which they use for head. Dogs would probably too, but they are not really as acrobatic as them tree-climbers. Tho, dogs are more likely to lick out of affection.
