Diary of a Congressman

Day 1,469, 04:13 Published in USA Austria by Penegrin

Dear Readers,

I want to start a new series of articles around my first term as Congressman of the eUSA. I will not post any internals but rather talk about my personal experience.

First of all I want to thank all my voters. This was the 3rd time I ran for congress in the eUSA and I was overwhelmed to see that I ranked 5th among the Congressmen. This is really a great sign of trust and I hope I can live up to the expectations of my supporters.

First days

Since I have been a Congressman a couple of times already the mechanics and duties are nothing new to me. However it is the first time that I serve in such a huge and diverse Congress.
My first duty was to sign in to get access to the Congressional Boards. Once I had access I spent my next hour reading through all the forums and subforums. I can understand that this structure has grown over time but as a newcomer it’s not very clear where you find which info and where you have to post certain topics. But I guess this is just a matter of time.

Another thing I noticed is the huge gap between senior Congressmen and freshmen. This might be related to the overwhelming amount of information the new Congressmen have to deal with since it takes a while until you know how everything works. Some older Congressmen are not very patient with the new ones and the tone is sometimes rough or even insulting. But since I know many of the Congressmen I also know they behave just the same outside of Congress.

So far nothing really thrilling happened. We had some useless law proposals early on but I think we have that covered. I can’t wait to see how Congress works on pressing issues and hope to get a better insight soon.

I hope you enjoy this little report and if you have question I’ll answer them as long as they don’t aim at classified information.
