Congressional Platform - Seeking New Hampshire's Congressional Seat

Day 667, 20:35 Published in USA United Kingdom by Devoid

Shortest version: Peace is good, PEACE is bad. Open markets are good, so are lower taxes if feasible. Let's go win the war, and be prosperous afterward and live happily ever after.

The War
The last couple weeks have proven that we can win. I don’t claim to be a pro on military affairs; we have a competent group of officers, and I won’t get in their way, and will support them where possible.

The Economy
Options are a bit squeezed since we’re in war, and the government needs cash badly. I would love to cut income taxes. 20% out of everyone’s wages is a bit steep. I’d like each American to have more money to take home, and spend on stuff or even invest in a company, which then creates jobs and more stuff. In short, lower taxes to lead to more prosperity for all. This most likely isn’t the best path to pursue while our nation is still under imminent threat by foreign powers, but should the situation improve I will pursue it fiercely.

Import taxes are low across the board, and this is great. Ask any economist worth his or her salt, and they’ll tell you that open trade is great for a nation. While a few focused areas may be negatively impacted, it benefits the average citizen and benefits most businesses. Also, tariffs are a quite inefficient method to generate revenue for the government. I’ll be happy to argue for free trade with anyone who wants such an argument, and I will fight to keep import taxes low.

Foreign Policy
In short, less wars where possible, and more friends where possible. Our friends make us stronger, and they have helped us greatly during these tough times. I will strive to bring more allies into the fold, and maintain and improve relations with those we have in place.

Also as far as wars go, they generally get in the way of prosperity. However, in the meantime at least it doesn’t seem like we’ll lack for wars. In general terms I will oppose any potential war of aggression from our side, or any war that is not in defense of our nation or of our dearest allies.

Noobs
Noobs are a great and vastly underutilized resource for this country. They (obviously) are the future. I know many who have quit, because they haven’t really gotten into the game. And I understand; a two-clicker isn’t likely to stay interested. The ones I know who have stuck around have gotten into the community, gotten into business, gotten into politics. I understand that there are new efforts to reach out to the new players and get them involved. I will investigate these efforts, and support them if they are sufficient, and make the necessary changes if they are not. No country without noobs sticking around can hope for a prosperous future.

Information
On the same note, information (and misinformation) is a huge issue, especially with new players. Many don’t know how to keep their wellness up so they can fight once they’re level 6. Many don’t know how to use a hospital. Many don’t know to move to a Q5 region. Many don’t know they can quit a company that can’t pay them. Many don’t know that we have a DoD giving out orders in the best interests of our nation. I could go on. None of this is acceptable, and action must be taken.

Other cool stuff:
The college degree I've nearly finished seems a great fit for Congress; Management major (esp long-term strategic management, and managing organizations), and International Economics minor.
I'm a New Englander in real life, a resident of northern MA, and frequently visit NH.
I've successfully run 4 businesses in eRep, 3 currently active.
I've introduced dozens of new players to this game, and have nearly 30 referrals to level 6 and beyond.
I speak a bit of Spanish, can't hurt.
I'm wicked smaht.

Anything else you want to know, please let me know. Message me, and I will try to be responsive. Same thing goes once elected; if you have a question regarding a current issue, or the way I have voted or will vote, or if you have an interest you want me to represent in Congress, let me know, and I will try to be responsive.

Please vote for me to represent New Hampshire on the 25th.
