Congressional Citizen Awards and Speaker's last words

Day 1,470, 11:13 Published in USA USA by eUSA Congress

Once upon a time Congress began giving out Citizen Awards for those people who go above and beyond in helping out their fellow man.

This month, the Awards committee was comprised of four congressmen:

Henry Arundel, Chairman
Morrigan Alexandros

Three people were recognized by the committee this month, and are being presented with a small token of our thanks for all that they do.

For Supporting our Citizen Soldiers, Congress thanks

jerseygirldani

Her hard work helping President GoalieBCSC supply the members of the newly formed eUS Civilian Military Group certainly cannot go unnoticed. Supplying those players who don't have the time to fully join the military, while being a member of the Ultramarines not the Civilian Group herself, on top of running the Department of Interior, and being Vice President, is no easy task. Her commitment to helping new players is admirable, and Congress thanks her.

For this award, jerseygirl has been given 5 gold and 20 tanks.

For Amusing Media Shenanigans, Congress thanks

Rod Damon

This man’s newspaper has recently turned in to one of the more interesting runs for a Media Mogul medal. His questions of the day offer challenging riddles and games for all of us to enjoy, and clearly he has to put a lot of time in to creating them, and coming up with ways to embed clues into his writing and comments. Keeping people interested and amused, especially during a super fun invasion like this (Poland's coming too, what joy) is important, and his work to keep people clicking needs recognition.

For this award, Rod has been given 5 gold and 20 tanks.

For Promoting Public Discourse, Congress thanks

Stranger Here Myself

Whether you agree with him and his opposition to our current tax structure, SHM has put in a lot of time to push for a change in one of the few aspects of the game we can completely control. His articles have forced people to take a look at things, and talk about what they think is best for our country. Also, the comments section of his articles are always amusing.

For this award, SHM has been given 5 gold and 20 tanks.

A few words from your departing Speaker

The 48th term of eUS Congress opened with some lively discussion about protocol and responsible conduct following some hastily-made and subsequently failed law proposals and non-cooperative citizenship approvals. Opinions of where the responsibility of new member education and pre-election candidate screening lies range from Congressional leadership to Party leadership to personal responsibility. Some members have called for censure of the offending Congressmen. A few citizens have called for the restoration of the FEC in an effort to heighten pre-election screening of Congressional candidates. It is this Speaker’s opinion that no piece of legislature can be wholly effective without cross-party support and the backing of a vigilant community. It will be interesting to see what stance the 48th Congress agrees upon and if any suggested measures are adopted and implemented.

Speaker of the House nominations have concluded. Nominees for 48th term Speaker are George Armstrong Custer and Eli Crownover. Both Congressmen have submitted their platforms for Congress’ consideration at eusaforums and the vote begins today.

Finally, it has been a great privilege to serve as Speaker these last two terms. Not everything was accomplished that I personally would like to have achieved and several days’ donations were delayed by inevitable game bugs but, all in all, I step away satisfied. It is my hope that those members who chose to participate in forum discussions did not come away feeling restricted by a heavy-handed Speaker and it’s my continued desire to see rising members realize that well-thought out discourse and self-empowerment through research and education help set the pace for their success.

48th US Congress - you have a job to do, do it well.

Kindest regards,
rainy sunday
