^ Those articles outlined the questions. Thanks to all who cast a vote on what they think is important. Here are the results of what eAustralians think we should discuss:
Wars/fighting (8 votes)
Dictatorship/democracy/MTO/PTO (5 votes)
Secure regions/bonuses (5 votes)
Baby boom (4 votes)
Taxes (3 votes)
Other (what?) (4 votes)
Not fussed about anything (1)
The Numbers:
13 people voted, from an eAustralian population of over 500 people. That is less than 3% of the current eAustralian population. Make of that what you will. For reasons that should be obvious, I did not cast a vote.
According to J Seemore's comment below, the true eAus population is closer to 120 people, putting the votes at slightly over 10%. Sounds a little better; thanks, J.
The Results:
Topic 1, Wars/fighting, was the big winner with 8 votes (over 60% of voters). Most of those who commented agreed with Wyvernjack’s statement, “Fighting is fun.”
Uh yeah, I don’t think we’re mostly here for the politics and witty repartee… Not that those things are without value, of course. But if we are to talk about what is important to us in the game, fighting is big.
There were 5 votes for the topic of Secure regions/bonuses. Obviously, everyone benefits from more regional bonuses, so long as we do not endanger our core regions acquiring them.
There were also 5 votes for Dictatorship/democracy/PTO/MTO. These results are more difficult to analyse, but it seems to come down to this question:
Can we have a strong and essentially free country…
without this?
So—discuss.
😛
The 4 votes cast for the Baby boom topic suggest that people are concerned with the growth of our nation. A bb has been much discussed, but little acted upon.
Perhaps it is time to resume discussing this with a view to creating an actionable (sorry, I hate that word too) plan. Who would like to bell the cat? I think J Seemore (who did not vote) is still on holidays, so I’ll nominate him…
🙂
Taxes received 3 votes. The single expounding comment was that taxes should be a result of voting, not just implementation by suggestion.
The topic of Other (4 votes, all different) provided interesting food for thought, as well as reason for optimism that we have some good brains in our ecountry. Ok, maybe not Rusty D’s, though I think we can mostly all get behind a vote for beer.
😃
Some people had more than one good concern. The ideas expressed (besides beer) include
😛
- The need for more regulation and continuity in gov, possibly including the use of forums;
- Support v indifference in regard to our situation with allies;
- The need to unify eAustralians; and
- The large silent majority.
In summary:
By necessity, this article is a mere synopsis, that does not begin to address the issues, only to identify them. If the few active people who voted on these topics are representative, eAustralia cares about all of these issues and more.
If, as the numbers suggest, we care most about fighting— let’s fight. But since we also care about secure regions and bonuses, let’s fight smart. And we apparently care about the political stability of our country. So let’s take that into account too, before we go fight.
There are some really good ideas floating around in eAustralia; the question is, how can we implement them? And how do we get the “silent majority” more involved?
Thanks to everyone who took the time to vote, and to put their ideas into words. My apologies if I have misrepresented anyone’s opinion. Feel free to PM me with a correction or further discussion on any topic (within reason). Let the dialogue continue…
Cheers—JT

The active eAustralian population is 120, don't look at the stats - they are fake.
In which case we got over 10% to vote. I'm ok with it...
Yes, the in-game stats are wrong. Also count new players that die after 2 minutes, but still counted for 30 days before in-game death.
And how do we get the “silent majority” more involved?
I don't know how, but could be possible to contact all of them to know a reply? 😛
IME, Aussied will passively go along with something up to the point that they have to contribute more than they are prepared to. Then there will be a mutiny, and much swearing...
I don't known if it's a legacy of a convict society or not, but many people just don't care enough to actively participate. It's definitely uncool to try and not succeed, so maybe people are worried about their pride. Or have a less-than-robust ego. The ones that do speak up tend to do it for the lols. Things like "I'd like to move a motion..." and then dropping their guts. Yes, I think it's funny too. But ultimately it is unhelpful.
Anyway, I am rambling again. To cut things off, trying to turn the "silent majority" of Aussies into a U.S. style presidential rally is a waste of time. If you want to lead Aussies, state your plan clearly and execute it without apology. Anyone that disagrees will tell you. Everyone else agrees. 🙂
Aussies do want war, but we just don't tend to win too many of them 😛
Trick is finding one that gives us not just internal support but also allied support .....
If only we had a team of people that could work that one out ....
😛
