An Endorsement for the New Year

So I've been away from writing for quite a bit and haven't had the time to devote the game given my real life schedule. But I do take time out of the day to log in and at least read around (although I do sometimes skip working/training unfortunately since both seem to have minimal impact on my part). I thought I'd give a special chime in here for the election before possibly melting back into the same routine of work / ignore eRep responsibility. I have seen the articles so far, and even without seeing cabinet, I know where I'm going with this.
Let me be probably the last to say I was truly excited by Rainy Sunday's run for the presidency last month. Despite being indirect at first, the media storm and actual campaigning took me by surprise and I was content to sit and watch. I voted for her in the USWP primary and awaited the election results to see how close it would be. Deepchill has performed excellently this month with his team and kept us on track towards a stronger future and further progress in foreign affairs. December was full of events I was glad to see, from the presidential race to the wipe of Spain. Especially the wipe of Spain. God, could we give them back their regions just so we can do it again?
Which leads me to that main point. Our foreign affairs have been the best we have seen in years. Our position in Pacifica and the ties we currently hold are enviable by most nations (Poland and Spain likely among them). Some people might have been hesitant by our closer relations with Asteria which includes our traditional foe Serbia, but honestly, the world changes and it is better to change with it than sit in a bad situation. Being able to secure out spot in the world while maintaining our close allies is a feat not many could have accomplished without a lot of backroom complaints and international drama floating over our heads. As someone who has dealt with tiny slights in foreign affairs being blown out of proportion, I know how dealing with the world can be a job most would shy away from after serving.
And with that, I am proud to endorse Wild Owl for the Presidency for a third term. As a diplomat, a leader, and a friend, he has surpassed me and many other presidents and ministers of foreign affairs. To achieve the balance we have right now is something many would like to claim credit for (Oblige). While Tenshibo and my close friend Paul Proteus are running a race arguably to maintain interest and fun in the game, which I admire and fully support, I cannot in good faith sit aside and not shine praises on one of the most influential people in the country and likely the eWorld. Wild Owl is to thank for most of our progress throughout the last year, and if you want 2015 to start off as well as 2014 went, it is an obvious choice to place him in the leadership role.
Some would say that candidates like Tenshibo/Paul are needed right now to spice things up again and make things interesting. Others would say that electing stable leadership is boring and makes us lose interest in elections or government. Here is the deal: we are past the point of redeeming the game with community outreach and support. You aren't going to fun your way out of this. Flaws within the structure have to be addressed by the creator at some point, and our efforts are not going to turn the tide of a slowly dying player base and overall experience. When this finally shuts down and the lights turn off, I'd like to say we were one of the ones who ended on a high note rather than a blaze of destruction. If you think I'm incorrect in saying this, I urge you to prove me wrong and I would be happy to see it happen.
I will be voting for Wild Owl on the 5th, and I hope you all will too. Feel free to comment with your own thoughts or vote as you please. I look forward to election day and I hope to see all of you there.

You are right. It is necessary to be pragmatic. 😁
In addition, it is right to support Wild Owl because it is right to support the best politician. And, in my opinion, the best politician is the most experienced politician and not the cutest politician. 😁

I support WO, and this is well written,
I would say that you're missing the point of Tenshibo and my enterprise though by assuming we were trying to beat WildOwl. You're right nobody is going to "fun" their way out of anything, but I seriously hope nobody overanalyzed what Ten and I wrote. The point was to let people vote on anything, in basically one primary, more a referendum on a lack of candidates than a statement on WO, and, the primary goal, to entertain ourselves. This was not the same thing as rainy last month, not by a long shot.
In a sense I agree and disagree with this. I agree insofar as that I'll endorse WO, though he doesn't particularly need it. WO4CP, he's a good candidate who is both competent and interesting. I like.
I disagree in your assertion that because the game is dying our best hope is to elect stable leadership every month. In fact, I'm pretty, in a small part, sure that's how the game is dying.
Saying we're beyond community outreach is what lands us beyond community outreach. The only benefit of a dying game is that is allows the opportunities to do reckless, interesting things not afforded by a massive actually populated rational world.
Certainly that doesn't come in the form of Tenshibo and I joking about how mediocre our Presidential terms were–that is simply what I said it was, a joke–but if we are to have any fun in this game, if we are to retain anyone besides our current core of 10 people in power, new players or 5 year veterans like myself, we have to make this game interesting. We have to elect the rainy sundays of the world, we have to take gambles.
Rather than saying we cannot afford to take risks, I'd say it's suicide not too.
That's more of an overall philosophy of course, it applies less to this month than last, as I mentioned, I think WO is our best candidate we could field as a community this month and there's a reason he fostered no serious opposition. But it can't always be that way.

Guess you missed the part where I say I still read the news and log on to check up on everything. I just don't have to time to personally participate like I used to. A lack of activity doesn't mean a lack of information.
A lack of activity leads to a lack of information. TO be fully informed, you need to participate... which is why we are graded in school for participation.
I'm not trying to pick a fight, only point out something that should pretty much be obvious, NewAz.
This election is a one-man show anyway.
