A future so bright that you will need shades.

Day 1,351, 00:56 Published in South Africa South Africa by Miyagiyoda

It's coming through a hole in the air,
from those nights in Tienanmen Square.
It's coming from the feel
that this ain't exactly real,
or it's real, but it ain't exactly there.
From the wars against disorder,
from the sirens night and day,
from the fires of the homeless,
from the ashes of the gay:
Democracy is coming to the R.S.A.

Sail on, sail on
O mighty Ship of State!
To the Shores of Need
Past the Reefs of Greed
Through the Squalls of Hate
Sail on, sail on, sail on, sail on.

I'm sentimental, if you know what I mean
I love the country but I can't stand the scene.
And I'm neither left or right
I'm just staying home tonight,
getting lost in that hopeless little screen.
But I'm stubborn as those garbage bags
that Time cannot decay,
I'm junk but I'm still holding up
this little wild bouquet:
Democracy is coming to the R.S.A.

I can harp on about my experience and credits, but frankly, if you don't know who I am by now its unimportant anyway. Let me share what I know instead.

South Africa is stagnant. Our markets are a little too slow. Our prices are a little too high. Our regions a little too few. Our military a little too weak. This is all changing.

South Africa have been working hard to carve a new place for ourselves in the world against all odds. We have taken aggressive oppressors and turned them into allies through the craft of state. While we resent having to deal from a position of weakness, we have shown that this does not hold us back to secure something of value. We are well on our way to creating a secure environment in which South Africa will grow. We have patiently built relationships that are near bearing fruit. Allow this to continue under me.

I have been very quiet this month analysing the the way we do things. I now have a grasp of some of the endemic problems we face. Too much control by shadow groups. Too little power to elected individuals. To little law that guides how we rule. The language of our laws is verbose and some of the laws are overly complicated for no apparent reason. While I praise all the work everyone has done to date, South Africa has ground to a halt. We drastically need to address our income. Without taxes we cannot retain new players, expand our businesses, build our military and militia, cannot adequately defend ourselves. Tax come in two ways: more resources and ironically, lower tax rates to jump start local consumption and depress the black market. While I understand that this is essentially a national assembly function; it needs leadership for a new direction.

That direction is dramatic and involves calling in every favour we have earned. But its now or never. We either spread our wings and fly or continue our spiral into obscurity.

Start growing.
Fly to the future.
Embrace progress.
