Update on the status of the USAF Branch Merger

I’d like to extend my gratitude to all of the members of The Special Forces, Ultramarines, Air Force and Flight Training for their patience throughout the merger process and a warm welcome to others who have chosen to join us. We’ve encountered some rough spots during our transition, primarily due to outside interference with our orders bot, but I am pleased to report little to no disruption in supply. We are continuing to make progress in making additional improvements in accessibility and convenience for our troops.

We’ve grown as a Unit from 80 members to 341 members and doubled our number of fighters. Strength requirements that once created barriers to entry have been eliminated. As such, the process for joining has been simplified. Simply join the in-game MU. Division 1 troops should also apply to Flight Training, http://tinyurl.com/FlightTrainingApp , our official Training Program for new players to help assimilate them to the game. Higher division players are also welcome there. With membership burgeoning, there is ample opportunity for advancement in leadership positions.

Be sure to come join us on IRC, as well, mibbit.com/#usaf@irc.rizon.net and send an in game message to rainy sunday, http://www.erepublik.com/en/citizen/profile/1528331

All USAF members should be on the lookout for a Unit-wide survey in their messages. We want your contributions and critiques as we grow.

Congress Update
----

Congress, is a very busy place, and for many who are not in congress it can be hard to keep up on all the goings on. They were holding major debates on taxes very recently, and had a smaller discussion regarding a potential disciplinary committee. Both of these went to vote, here are the results for those who do not already know:

-> Vote to Enforce Fiscal Solvency Act (Reduce Tax to 8😵:
Failed: 25 Yay, 26 Nay

-> Vote to Repeal Fiscal Solvency Act (Maintain current 10% Tax):

Passed: 25 Yay, 21 Nay
-> Congressional Disciplinary Committee:
Failed: 8 Yay, 22 Nay, 1 Abstain

The first two were the main tax acts you have all been undoubtedly hearing about all over the place. Each act was in direct opposition of the other. Essentially the vote to enforce the act would uphold a previously constructed act where once a certain pre-condition was met the tax would be reduced. While this was discussed before when the pre-condition (10 million cc in the US Reserves) was met and it was decided to leave the tax level at 10%, recently a movement was made to uphold the act effectively dropping the taxes down. Problems arose from disagreement regarding the interpretation of certain clauses in the law itself regarding the actions to be followed at that time. Ultimately, two votes were held, one to “enforce” the law by one interpretation by reducing the tax and the other to repeal the law and leave the tax level as it is. The first failed and the second passed, so the Work Tax remains at 10%. A good representation of the discussion was recently published by David Wilson.

The Second topic was the far less controversial proposal to create a committee to help manage congress people and to be an adjudicator and mediator for any issues or disputes. This was proposed primarily in reaction to the more “muddled” issue surrounding Codey’s censure proposal. While some believe it had some merit the idea was promptly shot down.

The Tax debate flared up again when a second Proposal was made to reduce the tax using the same discussion, but it was swiftly closed by the Speaker on account of the prior votes.

This has been your congressional update! Again, some will have already been keeping up with all of the goings on, however if you have not, I hope this served you well!!

War Map
Alexander Auctoritas

Let's take a look at Europe. We notice that Norway is back on the map, and at war with the Netherlands again. Just two battles in and it's all even. Good luck, eNetherlands. The UK has jumped on the beat-up-on-Norway bandwagon. The eUK looks to win the battle, easily.

Albania is slowly swallowing Belarus. Albania has one region to take, and they are currently winning. Get it done. Belarus has initiative vs Lithuania, but I don't see them being able to fight both fronts successfully. Wipe looks inevitable. Meanwhile, the Ukraine and Russia are in their eleventh battle of the war. Ukraine has the temporary upper hand, but I do not expect it to continue.

Turkey has joined the party in Europe. It's the thing to do, these days. They dropped on Austria and look to build a little campfire. Have fun guys and gals. Mexico has attacked Portugal and looks to be having a great first battle. I hope this war goes better than Venezuela's did. Not sure, but Poland and Germany might be resetting determination.

France continues to beat up on Italy. I really feel for them, as they just get pushed around a lot. Italy seems to get the worse of many wars, currently occupied by Greece, as well. And they are getting beat up by Slovenia, as well, losing four battles to them at this time. After dropping in Europe on Switzerland, Paraguay is determined to stay and play. They are at war with the Swiss again, but I suspect it won't last long.

Keep shaking that ASS.
