Editor’s Note: The WHPR wishes to thank BlondeNinja and Pfeiffer for coming through with what may be the two best pieces of journalism this publication has seen in a long time. Further, both delivered their work on very short notice. Lesser writers might have thrown together bits of fluff, but these two professionals have presented for you nothing short of top quality reading.

Enjoy a Safe Congress Election Today
BlondeNinja

As I’m sure you all know by now, the We The People (WTP) party has been PTO’d by one Valiant Thor. The short version is that he has come unhinged and is running Serbians for Congress, and we’re performing full blown ATO to prevent this. At the time of this segment’s writing the WTP has been pushed out of the Top 5 by the combined efforts of WTP leadership, Dept of Homeland Security, and some big names in ATO like Josh Frost.

However, there is a bit more to the story, and for those who have either not been keeping up with everything or simply haven’t heard, this will serve as a good “debrief” for you. Most of this comes from talking with WTP leadership-- they get the credit for the info provided. Now, putting it all together:

Even as Valiant Thor (VT) won the WTP primaries fair and square, he was under some suspicion at the time. However, as there was not enough to dispel him from office and given the democratic nature of the primaries he was allowed into the PP seat. Everything started to go south when The Mike noticed that the in-game leadership spots were populated by Serbians. Strangely, even creepily, they all adopted the same avatar as Thor. Shortly thereafter he was confronted in #wtp by Party leadership, and he “...went into full meltdown mode.” - Oblige
Thor started to toss around outlandish allegations and for all intents and purposes flipped a b***h. This was when he started to fabricate screencaps regarding “deals” Gnilraps had with the AFA, among other things. Following this, many people, including Tyler B and Gnilraps, among others, tried to talk him down from this apparent meltdown. However, to our dismay, this did not yield anything.

As the rest of WTP leadership as well as DHS (IndexInfinity) and others were being contacted and looped into a new IRC room, VT began to present demands as a follow up to his allegations. Among these demands were that we impeach Gnilraps-- if not, he would put Serbians into Congress. It was pretty clear at this point that he had gone off the deep end and that it would be very prudent to start ATO actions full swing.
(Note: the time frame here is spanning under a full 24 hours, much of this was happening concurrently).
It was at this time that the articles you’ve seen today went up and that Josh Frost and others started to evacuate the WTP in order to push the Party out of the Top 5. It was also during the day that VT fully confirmed he was PTO by setting the Serbian Congress list. As of this writing the rankings are:

1. Feds
2. The Black Sheep
3. USWP
4. AMP
5. LAP
6. WTP

We have met the end goal of our ATO-- WTP is out of the Top 5 and will not be running Serbs for Congress.

To the people who said we could not do it; we did it! As we have done time and again; we averted the PTO disaster. Through the hard work of ATO workers and attentive Party members we’ve gotten the situation under control and damage control done.

As happened with the AMP debacle with Free Area people are sure to point fingers, hopefully not, but in any event we need to remember that this could have happened to your Party, and while there might have been suspicions there was not enough at the time to prevent him from becoming PP. At least there were no red flags overlooked like there were with Free Area. Please band together to help WTP. Being someone who was in AMP during the Free Area PTO, I know the feeling and they need our support. We should congratulate ourselves on a successful ATO-- we did band together but the cost was the loss of the WTP. I know they can rebuild and we will all help them. So take the ATO win with that in mind. To WTP: You’re not alone.

This should serve as a good debrief to you all. Remember the numbers are always changing and so feel free to check things yourself. However the main ranking page does not update and you will need to click on each Party itself.

Then and Now: Politics
Pfeiffer

The political module of eRepublik has evolved over the life of the game. Things change, things stay the same, things return to old rules… all based on the whims of the wigs. Below you’ll find a bit of a primer on the evolution of mechanical politics in eRepublik

The following historical presentation is brought to you by the Pfeiffer Presidential Library.

Beta

General Elections

On the first of each month the country heads to the polls to elect their President and Congressional representatives.

The five largest parties will have their Party President represent them in the Presidential election. Only Party Presidents will appear on the Presidential ballot.

Congressional representation is purely based on the percentage of the vote each Party earns, and seats are assigned by the Party President. Direct election of Congressmen is not possible at this time. Congressmen are tasked with voting on the Proposals put forth by the President.

Party Elections

On the tenth of the month, Party Presidents are elected. Any Party member may run in these elections, and the winner is the candidate receiving the most votes. Simple as that. Ties are broken by experience points.

Local Elections

When the 20th day of the month rolls around, Mayors are elected. Players will be asked to vote to elect their local Mayor. Once again, simple majority rules and ties are broken by experience points. Mayors set the local taxes on companies, houses, and have an option to purchase and place hospitals in the city they represent.

Version One

Presidential Elections

Presidential elections now happen on their own each month, independent of Congressional elections, and voters head to the polls on the fifth of each month.

Five candidates appear on the ballot each month, with a space being reserved for each of the five largest Parties. Should multiple parties endorse the same candidate, a lower ranked Party shall receive a ballot slot. The Party President is empowered to choose the nominee from their Party.

Party Elections

Now on the fifteenth of the month, Party President elections remain otherwise unchanged. Any party member may run in these elections, and the winner is the candidate receiving the most votes. Simple as that. Ties are broken by experience points.

Congressional Elections

With the dissolution of the office of Mayor, Congressional elections are moved to the twenty-fifth of each month. During Version One of eRepublik, candidates choose a region in which to run for a seat in Congress, and players vote for candidates individually, rather than supporting a blanket Party slate. Should more than one player run for office in the same region from the same Party, the Party President is empowered to choose which player shall contest the election on behalf of their Party. Victory is, once again, a simple plurality.

Version Whatever the hell this is

Presidential Elections

Presidential elections have not been significantly modified since Version One. The only noticeable difference is that if the ‘home party’ of a player removes their endorsement of a candidate, that candidate may stay on the ballot using their other endorsements. Prior to this, the loss of their primary Party endorsement would remove a candidate from the ballot.

Party Elections

Party President elections remain unchanged.

Congressional Elections

The current election module sees us returned to the Beta system. Party Presidents prioritize their candidates and Congressmen are elected as a slate, with each Party being allotted seats based on the number of votes received nationally.

Wrapping Up

Regional Congressional elections were awesome. Losing them was the single dumbest move made by the wigs in the history of the political module. I would say more, but that’s all that needs saying. If you have specific questions, post them in the comments or message me, and I’ll answer them as best I can.

As always, if needed, I remain
Yours,

~Pfeiffer

American Hero: IndexInfinity
TellUrGrlThx

Hello, fellow Americans! Today we are honoring another American Hero. This individual is a very well known Fed and a long time Dept of Homeland Security (DHS) member. As the current Secretary of Homeland Security, he has done much to keep the PTO at bay-- especially in the last couple of days. This great American worked alongside many other Americans in the last 24 hours, successfully moving countless Americans out of WTP into Liberty Advancement Party and The Black Sheep Party. We are proud to honor this hero….

.

IndexInfinity! He is a true American Hero. Beyond maintaining free elections, IndexInfinity and the DHS also keep a check on possible suspicious players, along with keeping checks on our Parties when needed.
We congratulate you, Index, for being an American Hero!

War Map and Analysis
Ashkoort

As you can see, the North American continent is now fully USA coloured. With fifteen wins in a row USA has deleted Canada and left them without a Congress for the following month.

As you already noticed, the USA restored 10/10 bonus status by recovering Baja through another brilliant swap operation based on Netherlands’ Airstrike.

Great week for the USA, and the ranking of countries confirms it.

There are couple of events in Europe worth mentioning.

1. Chileans repelled a Serbian attack, then swiftly conquered Rhone Alps and Provence Alpes Azur in a counterattack. With victory in Liguria at hand, this opens the road to the center of Italy.

2. The Chilean war with Serbia gave Croatia a chance to return to Europe through a successful RW in Northwest Croatia. Another war will put additional pressure on Serbia.

3. Albania pushed Montenegro out of its cores, and launched successful a counter-attack which resulted with deletion of Montenegro. Another Asteria country without Congress next month.

4. Asgard launched an offensive on Germany. Joined forces of Sweden and Norway pushed the Germans out of Scandinavia, and Sweden conquered couple of German core regions.

Canadian Jokes!
Greeling

Q: How did Greeling conquer Canada so fast?
A: He marched in backwards and the Canadians thought he was leaving.

Greeling walked into a bar and asked the bartender, "Hey, have you heard the latest Canadian joke?" The bartender replied, coldly, "No. And I'll have you know I'm Canadian." That's O.K.," said Greeling, "I'll talk slow."

Q: How did Greeling stop the Canadian army on horseback?
A: He turned off the carousel.

Q: How did Greeling get the one-armed Canadian out of a tree?
A: He waved at him.

A Canadian man was walking down the street, carrying a brown paper bag. He ran into Greeling, who asked, "Hey! What do you have in the bag?" The Canadian tells Greeling that he has some bottles of syrup in the bag. Greeling says, "Well, I'll make you a bet. If I can guess how many bottles you have in the bag, you'll have to give me one." The Canadian says, "I'll tell you what. If you tell me how much syrup I have in this bag, I'll give you both of them."
