Then & Now: The Unity Process

eRepublik is a game centered upon change; from the variation of the mechanics, much to the dismay of the players (payers in some cases), to the adaptations the meta game undergoes. Where the game degrades in areas the meta game strives to fill those gaps. In some cases, where the game throws metaphorical curve balls, we can fill the need. The evolution of Unity was such an occurrence; the game mechanics allowed for a PTO and as a community we strove to shut them out, in the end we did, but it was not easy.

For those who may not be as intimate with the Unity system; when Ajay, RGR, pth, etc was more of a nuisance, previously, standard elections could not be held. The reason being the votes split between the official candidates would not be enough to ensure one of them would win out over the PTO candidate. As such the need arose for us to agree upon one candidate through primaries before the in game elections was held. Then everyone would vote for them thus foiling the PTO. This soon became the new way of doing things and we again and again shot them down. This process became tiring, and eventually we were able to do away with it through the hard work of many in the ATO field. The last term this process was followed was July, and since then we’ve grown as a community.

The Unity process showed us that in times of need we could come together to float one candidate for the country. It was by no means ideal, and we had our hiccups, but in the end we came through. Under Jfrost we finally killed the PTO and returned to the standard system.
We’ve certainly come a long way since then, it didn’t feel like 8 months had gone by, that’s for sure! The community truly is a wonderful thing, even if the game degrades, we don’t. We’ve left one Alliance and negotiated ourselves a shiny new one. And now we’re shoving our boots up Canada’s syrup tap (If you know what I mean) Needless to say the elimination of the PTO threat has given way to many great advancements that would have been severely inhibited otherwise.


From Pauls term as the final Unity candidate we’ve not only come to appreciate the sanctity of the current, free, system but we’ve made some awesome advancements as a country and community. Unity was no fun but the fact we could come together to arrange such and be successful at it speaks about us as a country. In short; we kick butt. However it’s more than just that, mostly it’s the fact that the meta game is so much more evolved than the game itself and never ceases to amaze. The end of Unity was glorious and we’ve been nothing but amazing since. You all rock.



American Hero: The Wild Card

Hello readers! Today WHPR honors another American Hero. This American Hero has truly showed his loyalty to America as soon as he started playing. Soon after this Hero started playing, he became very involved in politics starting with his own party, United States Workers Party. Soon after he went on to have several important positions from Secretary of Media to now as the Secretary of Interior. WHPR honors today…



The Wild Card! TWC has truly showed his loyalty to America from politics to his own MU, USAF Flight Training-Air Force. As a current XO of his MU, he has done tremendous work for eUSA's military and more. On top of that he is the current Secretary of Interior where he has done amazing work, bringing more life into the department with new contests and more ways to give back to our Americans like Stack the Wall. Congratulations The Wild Card! You're really are an American Hero.



War Map and Analysis

Greelingada, or North USA, is almost whole. The job will be done during Gnilraps reign. The USA has won eight battles in a row. If they can keep delaying the RW's, eventually GREELINGADA will be born.



Europe offers a few interesting changes this week.

1. See that cute little white strip in the middle of the map? That's Chile. They conducted a successful Airstrike to join the party in Europe. They are now a very effective ASTERIA bug-zapper. I think everyone is very pleased to see Chile join the fun and very happy that they are being so helpful. It will be great to see how they impact the landscape in the future.

2. Argentina is down to two regions in Estonia. With their attention now on the WAR with Spain, maybe Estonia can RW their regions back and remove the threat of Argentina from the Baltic region.

3. The United Kingdom looks a lot better than it did a week ago. First of all, they are only missing one core region, Northern Ireland, and it is currently being RW'd with the UK winning. Secondly, they are only involved in one direct war, having closed the ones with France and the Republic of Moldova. And they are winning against Finland, currently. Things look much better and SIRIUS can consider the defense of the United Kingdom another secure victory in this WW7.

4. Ireland dropped an Airstrike on Slovenia and won. How cool is that? They have found a way to enter the fun in Central Europe, further congesting and already highly contested area. They have opened a new battle in Upper Carniola. Good form, ireland.

5. Did I mention that Hungary looks Hungry? They went on a SIRIUS diet since we last looked at Europe. Having now left ASTERIA, what is Hungary to do? They cannot turn away from Serbia and their current MPP stack, being surrounded by ASTERIA. I suspect they will just sit and figure out a way to get Romania kicked out of ASTERIA. Problem?

6. And finally France proves useful. They successfully helped the USA end our war with Serbia. NO SOUP FOR YOU! Thanks France. We appreciate your assistance.

The European theater continues to get more and more interesting and more and more congested. It's only a matter of time before SIRIUS figures a way to close in on Serbia, Romania, Slovenia, and Greece. It will probably be many months before we see any serious threat to Argentina, but the aforementioned countries are on the hit list. If SIRIUS continues to organize and coordinate as well as they have since their inception, wiping the core members of ASTERIA is a realistic long-term goal. Good luck.

An ATO Legend speaks: Interview with ElvenCRO

There are those heroes, who become well known all across the community due to their position and the media exposure that comes with it. And there are those who work on jobs conducted behind the scene, jobs that are secretive by nature related to our country's security. ElvenCRO is one of those that falls into the second category. When I've contacted him to do an interview, modest as he is, he felt a little bit uncomfortable., but I've managed somehow to get him on IRC and we had this very interesting conversation.

Five years is a long time! How did you start playing eRepublik?

My RL friend, icekamikaza found out about eRepublik on the some forum. So we both started playing the game. I was e-born in South Dalmatia during the baby-boom when Croatia was added.

What was the global situation back then regarding alliances?

At that time our good old Atlantis (USA, Romania, UK, Greece, Spain, Sweden, Croatia) was at war with the „evil“ PEACE (Hungary,Indonesia, Serbia, Slovenia, Turkey, Brazil, Argentine, Portugal, Russia, Italy among others) . I remember after the first month in the eUSA PEACE started a full scale invasion, coming from all directions. Me and icekamikaza were working for a whole week to have some Q5 rifles that we used in the last battle defending Florida. Those were the days! (ElvenCRO gets sentimental)

How did you come to the eUSA?

I've just moved there, after playing 3 months. At that time there was no citizenship, they've just started to implement it. And as you got the CS of that e-country depending in what region you were, I've ended up as an eUS citizen and stayed. At that time I was a typical citizen, not much into politics, following orders, two-clicking, but staying informed about current events and what was happening.

Do you remember some of the folks and friends that you were in touch back then and that are still playing the game now?

Bia Pandora and Jude Conners come to mind. A lot of them were Marines and they don't play anymore. Back then you couldn't achieve anything individually, like in the last 2 years. We were all much weaker but would gather around to make an impact as a collective, so we all grew closer together. There was one Daily Order, one CoD, but we had more different officers, a lot more Folks were involved working for the Government. Those in the Executive were „Titans“ back then.

Do you recall some dramatic occurrences during that time?

I remember the destruction of Atlantis, when Sweden and Germany had a fight inside the alliance. Then PEACE became the dominating force. During that time the core of EDEN formed. We were defending the eUSA – Florida Fortress.

You were a EDEN soldier. How did you feel when the eUSA left the alliance?

I think it was a few month after PigInZen's term (not so sure) we have left EDEN because of a minor querrel in the HQ. Even today i feel sad about it.

You also started to be more politically active and involved with ATO.

I was Congressman in USWP 6 times in a row representing by beloved Minnesota Then I've focused on ATO with much dedication (Anti Take Over, fighting PTO – Political take Over). In those days the eUS citizens were not careful enough and allowed shady creatures getting into Congress. The parties were more occupied fighting for dominance. Like using the sniping method we used in USWP.

What is „sniping“ all about?

It was the old electoral system: we were sending voters to other parties and were removing them in the last minutes. And others were doing the same to us. Like some kind of political warfare. So this is also how month after month rogue candidates were elected to Congress giving away rogue citizenship.

Is this how the PTO started?

This was one part, the other was Ronald Gipper Reagan bringing PTO-ers into the country, mainly from Serbia as a part of his undercover operations. Another reason: we did have DHS (Department of Homeland Security) but people there were not vigilante enough, the threat was not handled seriously enough. At the beginning of my involvement with ATO I was working independently, gathering people together, sniping potential PTO candidates who were trying to buy their way in to Congress. There was a load of these guys. I remember at one point I was coordinating over 300 players from Croatia for ATO purposes. We were sniping the PTOers and have been always loyal.

ATO has been successful. What is needed to do it right?

Dedication. Sometimes I was hanging out on IRC for 20 hours to coordinate our efforts. Like in the final ATO strike against the Shoe-People (Cipelici - Serbian PTO group) when we took over AFA. I've personally brought 220 people into the country, all going through my inbox. don hrleone was helping out and I was working closely together with Cody from DHS. The other thing is good coordination between the departments. (EvenCRO has been an IES agent for over 3 years)

What are your thoughts about the current global situation?

Well, it's finally becoming interesting, being a part of a winning alliance after all that defensive time in TEDEN and CoT. We've handled Hungary, next could be Serbia. And China will unlikely interfere, because of a strong Anti-Asteria opposition, so Hail Sirius o/

How do you feel about our war with Canada?

Oh, well, I have a lot of friends from Canada, so I really don't like it. But it is what happened and I hope we can make it a fun for both sides in this episode of being „enemies“.

Finally, how come you still play this game and what would be your advice to new players?

Well, you just get used to it, like a habit. And I also did make a bet with icekamikaza who of us will stay longer. As for advice: you need to get over the routine and make room for fun, finding friends and hanging out with friends on IRC. Keep in min😛 alliances come and go, it's friendship that matters. You can meet people from all over the world and that's great.

Hanging out with ElvenCRO was very enjoyable. He told me that somewhere after Easter this year he will enter into two-click mode, because of RL obligations: he's accepted a great job-opportunity and is moving to Paris, France. Let's wish him all the best and hope he will return to activity somewhere in the future.
