Greetings citizens of eNetherlands,
Today, Saturday 26th of July 2014, the day after the congress elections (which where very successful for Iron & Wine I might add) I would like to announce that I am going to candidate for country president of the eNetherlands again and going for a second term. Running for president, even if it is for a second term isn't a decision made easily and needs consideration and so I need and I decided to run for a second term, to be president for the month of August. I will be seeking support from other parties besides my own party Iron & Wine and hope I also will get their support (and that they won't forget to support me in time before the 3rd of the months like last month)
My current term isn't over, I still have a third of my term left, ten days of my first term. Seeing I still have a long time to go and that it is my own presidency it is hard to rate it or compare it to other (recent) presidencies because you can't expect me to be completely unbiased. Unlike some of the previous presidents I am not somebody who will bang my own drums and brag and boast and exaggerate about what I achieved in my term. I think the most important thing I achieved this month is steering Netherlands away from Aurora and to being pro Sirius.
If I win a second consecutive term it will most likely also be my last term as I most likely won't be looking to run for a third consecutive term. I do not believe that anybody should hold any position including president for too long as there is the risk of becoming complacent with the job. It is good for another to have a chance at it and it is good for a fresh face and somebody with fresh idea's. But this is a long time away, I first have to win a second term.
Just like the previous month I will be posting three more articles, one with my manifest, one with my team and an article on election day. I am looking forward to the election and I hope that this upcoming country president elections I will have a opponent to run against unlike the last country president elections. Although I do not believe that having two candidates is a bad thing persé, people should run because they want to, because they have the experience, the time and effort and are willing to spend (too much) time on erepublik not because there need to be a second candidate so people will have a choice. I hope that somebody will stand up and actually run seriously as a viable candidate for president.

I'm just a newbie. But I think in my opinion if you get chosen for a 2nd term and when that will be succesfull too you should try for a 3rd term and a 4th lol I know what you're saying as for 'Let someone else take a chance' but wouldn't that mean maybe a shift in let's say alliance? If that president might feel a different way... ISn't it a good thing to have a stable President and a stable congress for that matter? I'm just asking tho trying to get the politic ropes of Erepublik 😉
When a CP has done a good job and (s)he is still having enough energy, why not?
Cause beeing CP is hard work, even in small country like eNederland. Not much people got time and want to try 3rd or 4th time per row
I understand as rl can catch up with people 😉 But would that mean that the political landscape will change in a big way whenever there's a new President? (from different parties) Or would parties make an agreement with each other to basically go same directions as their predecessors?
It can change but if people dont want new laws they can impeach the president. So everyone want to make people happy and try to administrate the country in one way
I doubt political landscape will change that much from a predecessors. A country has chosen to go a certain way and a president can't change that

I have a question. We were all told that eNL's future lies with Aurora, and each and every old ally and friendship had to be destroyed for that goal. We at GPN told many times that Aurora didn't want us. Is the government now finally seeing the truth of that? Now this government is trying to get us into Sirius? In our opinion that is again a mistake, as Sirius doesn't want us as a member, nor do the people of eNL want to join Sirius. WE had a few polls, and they made clear that half our population wanted to join Aurora, while the other half want us to join LETO. So stearing the country away from that choice isn't something that's agreed upon with the general populace.

I do think you are exaggerating a bit, we did not destroy each and every ally. Most of our allies are actually in Aurora and Sirius, the only friendship that got diminished was with Norway. Going towards LETO would have actually destroyed much more friendships and would have left us vulnerable with only enemy countries surrounding us. We would be off the map again for years like we were before. You seem to think that alliances and friendships in erepublik are static but they are not countries allegiances change as do friendships between countries.

You are factually wrong, we are not trying to get into Sirius, we have chosen to become a pro sirius country, there is a big difference there. And your comment that eNL doesn't want to join Sirius what is that based on? Some old referendum? Things have changed a lot since then. And even GPN congressman agreed with going pro Sirius was a better option than trying to stick with getting into Aurora.

Like I have said that is a old referendum with old facts in the old situation a lot has changed since then. Back then we just attacked, got attacked by Germany and had bad relations with Germany so it is not that strange that not a lot of people wanted us to e in Sirius. We have great relations with Poland and Germany and Belgium and Netherlands are part of North Sea Protection Pact. Also only a small number of people wanted us to join LETO not the other half as you are claiming.

Some allies has moved to Asteria/Leto and some are in Aurora/Sirius so whatever side we choose we lose (former) allies. There are enough good allies like for instance USA who is on Sirius side we would lose and the list goes on. Like I said in my previous statement alliances, allegiances and friendship aren't something static in erepublik and it is impossible to keep holding on to all previous friendships.

You are talking about the going down the slippery slope of every new CP choosing new paths but you forgot to mention that Congress has approved this move, this is not just something done by my government but with every step of the way I informed congress and congress voted to go pro Sirius. Even GPN congressman in the discussion topic agreed with this move.
If you cant win with foe, join him. Just look now: eNL is calm, with strong allies who won with Serbia and stuff. Is that better ?
eNorway has never been a formal ally, we did some friendly wargames with them though.
Why didn't you speak up in Congress on this? We had a discussion about this there. You are Congress Member after all? There were no negative posts about these plans. Our CP cannot be held responsible for you not joining the debates.
Thats the problem with ZM and GPN. They make asumptions but when its being debated they ignore.
We had a debate on this, majority agreed on ProSirius.
You and your party had all chances to stop that, stop complaining here and stop spouting vS his vision.
