Have you considered the benefits of maintaining high wellness? Of course it seems like an obvious question, low wellness means meeting your eRepublik maker! But there are benefits to maintaining the best level of wellness that many citizens may not have considered.

1. What are the benefits of maintaining high wellness?
Obviously, avoiding death is one definite advantage of high wellness, but there are many other benefits. When you have high wellness, your citizen is more productive when you work. Employers prefer workers with high wellness, and good employers will pay high wellness workers well, whilst they might even fire workers with low wellness. You can use a calculator such as this - http://www.clashoftheash.net/eRepublik/productivity.php - to work out your productivity.

According to the formula used to work out combat damage, soldiers with higher wellness do more damage – and of course, if your citizen starts with full wellness, then you can fight more times and do more overall damage. You can use a calculator such as this - http://www.clashoftheash.net/eRepublik/dmg.php - to work out your battle damage.

2. How can we maintain high wellness?
The first solution is to make sure that you have food of any quality in your inventory, as with no food your citizen will of course, die. At lower levels it is more difficult to maintain high wellness, as there is probably less money to spend on food. If this is the case, consider training only once or twice a week, this will help preserve higher wellness, and once you receive a hard worker medal, there will be more money to spend on food and other products.

The most effective way to maintain high wellness is to fight in wars or training wars, and then use the hospital in your region. Use your country stats tab to access your regions details, including the quality of the hospital, and also to heal after fighting.

Of course, wars and training wars are not always available, and in this situation we must consider other methods of maintaining wellness. If you have the money, consider buying better quality food or a house, the effectiveness of these can be worked out on a calculator such as this - http://www.clashoftheash.net/eRepublik/wellness.php

Make friends with other players, if you are inactive for some time, and your citizen begins to starve, they can donate food to you to keep you alive. You can arrange a gifting partnership, whereby you donate gifts to each other. A Q5 gift will restore five wellness points to your citizen, but gifts do disappear when they have been gifted. Gifting can be an effective last resort to maintain maximum wellness if there are no wars or training wars.

High wellness is important to individual citizens, as citizens with higher wellness are generally better paid, but it is also important to the defence and productivity of the United Netherlands. Higher productivity helps to keep our economy strong, and soldiers with higher wellness can fight more effectively, increasing the defence capability of the United Netherlands. It is important that all citizens, from the highest level to the lowest level maintain a high wellness for a more prosperous and better defended United Netherlands.
