The foreign affairs of the United Netherlands have changed considerably in the last few days, and the Ministry of Media and Recruiting realises that many new players (and likely some old players) may be confused about the current situation. As of this week the United Netherlands has become part of the new Phoenix alliance. This article hopes to clarify some of the basic facts about Phoenix.

1. What is Phoenix?
Phoenix is a new alliance, consisting of the following countries –

2. Who decided that we should join Phoenix?
President ThomasRed and DanielB1989 represented the United Netherlands in the discussions to form the Phoenix alliance, but entry to the alliance required the consent of congress. On the 6th of December congress voted 14 to 1 with 3 neutral votes and 2 abstentions to join Phoenix.

3. How is Phoenix governed?
The government and rules of the Phoenix alliance are contained in the constitution, which is here - http://www.erepublik.com/en/forum/topic/143196/the-alliance-contract/1 The Phoenix alliance is governed by an legislative body - the General Council of the Alliance, which is made up of the presidents from every member nation, and an executive body - the Strategic Council of the Alliance, formed of the presidents, ministers of foreign affairs, and ministers of defence of every member nation, and the Phoenix Secretary General, Treasurer, and Supreme Commander of the Army of the Alliance. The alliance is represented by the Secretary General, who is elected by the General Council of the Alliance.

4. What does Phoenix mean for the United Netherlands?
Article 1, Chapter 9 of the alliance contract states that members of Phoenix must defend each other from attack. For a small country like the United Netherlands, this is very important as it guarantees that other nations will help defend us against foreign attack. Becoming a member of an alliance like Phoenix is much cheaper than making many expensive Mutual Protection Pacts, but still ensures the mutual defence of the United Netherlands and the other member states.

4.Que signifie Phoenix pour les Pays-Bas Unifiés?
Article 1, Chapitre 9 de l’alliance, le contrat spécifie que les membres de Phoenix doivent se defender mutuellement contre les attaques des autres. Pour un petit pays comme les Pays-Bas Unifiés ceci est très important car il garanti que les autres nations aiderons a nous défendre contre les attaques étrangères. Devenir un membre d’une alliance comme Phoenix coûte beaucoup moins cher que de signer de très chers Pactes de Protection Mutuelle (MPP) mais assure la défense mutuelle des Pays-Bas Unifiés et des autres états membres.
