Chairwoman’s Message

As per our Constitution, I held our Congressional primary in our forums.  It was a great turnout for a primary, both in our candidates and our voters!  Several of our Congressional Candidates created articles, more than any other party by far.  We had 14 candidates (and 3 blockers) and 20 people voting using our new(ish) system in which each person gives 3 points to one candidate, 2 points to another candidate, and 1 point to a third candidate.  The primary ended at 00:00 game time on the 23rd.
The final point totals were as follows:
WookyJack: 16
Ghost of Tom Joa😛 15
Illiguy: 12
PilotPhil: 11
Tom Cauchon: 10
Jaden A.: 9
Jude Connors: 8
Franklin Stone: 8
EdgarFigaro: 7
EddieA: 7
Thydan: 5
Artela: 5
nick.bergman: 5
ChewChewShoe: 2
We also have three blockers set:
1411605
Captain Recks
Niemand

We have also agreed to run Jason the Great from Old F---s in our #7 spot, and Rainy Sunday from United Independents.in our #8 spot.
With all of this in mind, our line-up is:

Vice President's Message

A Week in Review

Tom Cauchon
SFP Vice Chairman/Chief of Staff

The first full week of the term has been both busy and successful indeed. Firstly, I would like to thank Jaden for putting her trust in me this month, and I surely hope that I don’t let her down. Jaden and I, while very similar players and very good at reading each other’s minds, have always found differences in our playing styles, yet are able to overcome these differences through compromise and debate. I can assure you that this will be a fun month.

My main job this month as Jaden’s Vice Chairman/Chief of Staff will be to make sure all SFP Departments run smoothly and that we are able to get weekly reports in each week. Weekly reports, in my opinion, are an extremely useful tool for our Chairwoman and my job is to make her job easier. Therefore, I am extremely thankful to every Department head this week for taking the time to write out a short summary about the week. Check the SFP forum in the next couple of days for a full report of the week.

It’s nice to know that while most parties can’t bother to have 75% of it’s Congressional delegation sign in, all 8 or 9 SFP Departments can get a Weekly Report in. This, I think, speaks volumes to the activity levels over here at SFP.

If you have any problems this month that you don’t want to bother the awfully busy Jaden with, please come to me with them, I’ll be happier to answer!

Thanks to everyone once again, looking forward to a great month.

A Little Chat

The public section of our forum has been thriving recently, we have moved our congress discussion areas out of the exclusively SFP view-able area, so anyone from any party can go ahead and debate with us on our ideals if they so wish. I think this is a very valuable addition to stop our heads from growing too large at the current exponential growth of our party's activity and membership. I reccommend anyone who reads this to go ahead and play around with all your favourite members of the SFP gang right now on Our Forums. We only bite a little, promise.

Several members from other parties have joined in the discussion, primarily Aramec, Tyler Bubblar, and MrCarey, who chimed into the Drafting of the Removal of the Defensive Dictatorship law. The Talks are ongoing.

In other forum related news, I'm very happy to see plenty of new members from the SFP joining up to come and talk with the active members on there. It was a little disappointing to see that it was mostly only the members with positions of power, or the older players, in the party who used the forums actively, but at least 4-5 new members have come in. There is a surprising correlation between people who get access to the forum, and who seem to get promoted into positions in the party very soon after. So make sure you come and hang out here.

We also have our congressional candidates picked out... For my own sanity I couldn't handle going back into congress this month. *shudder*, but do as Jaden and Tom say, and vote for the congressional candidates who actually do care. The SFP candidates were the only ones who all signed in, and they are the ones who are consistently fighting for change on your behalf in both the private and public congress. We are the most active and most friendly party to new members. To show this you can look at the congressional list: Three members on our congressional list who received votes from us have only joined in this previous month, and we are offering a handful of our seats to less fortunate parties as well. We are all about transparency, honesty, and open practice. If you can't trust anyone else to do what's best for you, even if it worsens our position, even if we have to backpedal on what we previously thought was a good idea, that might make us look bad, we do it for you. For everyone's benefit.

The SFP in Congress

The last portion of this congressional term has been fairly slow, but a proposal by SFP congress member Wooky Jack has taken center stage. The Homeland Savings Account is a scheme to set aside part of our country's reserve for national defense, as well as codify the reserve amount so that taxes could be more easily lowered in the future. Unfortunately, a consensus could not be built around the details of the plan, so it has been shelved for now. Nevertheless, it is good to see one of our delegation come up with an innovative idea that generated quite a bit of activity in congress. Now, we look forward to the upcoming congressional elections and our plan for the next term.

Bear Cavalry Update

Ever since the changeover in Bear Cavalry Command, from CO Shiloh13 to our current CO PilotPhil, the BC Commanders, in assistance from several new BC members, have decided to take a new look at commune systems and supply programs.

Currently, at Bear Cavalry HQ, Eddie and Edgar have all the BC Cadets training non-stop 24/7 in the weight room. Jaden, a newly graduated member of the Build-A-Bear training program, has settled into a nice comfy office job at HQ to avoid combat and racking up XP. 1411605, a brand new member of Bear Cavalry who was acquired during the last Tournament, and who we love already, has begun to work on a new commune system with Kevin Sheridan; the two were seen crunching the WAM numbers and working on tax numbers at HQ today. I can’t tell if PilotPhil likes his new throne yet, he’s been working so hard the past week to get all these logistics done. I am, personally, awaiting the announcement of the new supply program, before I, along with Kevin’s help, will launch a recruiting blitz both here in the eUS and across the eWorld.

Our current supply programs are being revisited, and a commune structure is being looked at. I’d expect announcements on both of these things very soon.

As always, if you’re a low level D1 soldier who is interested in gaining strength QUICKLY, reach out to me or EddieA and we’ll get you enrolled in our Build-A-Bear strength training program.

Diplomacy

Dear readers.

First of all, I would like to send a big thank you to our new Party President Jaden A. and to our new Media Director Mama Lunete. I really want to thank you two for this great opportunity of writing a few words on this week SFPOM.

The title of this article is, as stated above, Diplomacy.

The concept of Diplomacy in this "marvelous" game has seen major changes during its lifetime. But we can see that the two major tools continue to be the same...probably.

The first one is, as obvious: alliances.

Many, many, many alliances have been born and have died. And then, to replace the old ones, new alliances have been born. It's a like a cycle right? Major alliances have dominated the eWorld at one point. We can highlight EDEN, TWO, etc.
And what is (or should be) the main characteristic of every single alliance? Communication. Not only communication between the alliance's members but also between countries that tend to support that alliance. Without communication an alliance is useless.

The second one is the Mutual Protection Pacts, or MPPs.

MPPs are defensive pacts signed by 2 countries that allow citizens that are located in one country to fight for the other country on a MPP battle, yeah, we already know this.
This Pacts have lost some of their power. Manly due to one thing, the fixed price.
On the "old" times, 2011, 2012, a typical country could afford much more MPPs than now. This is because income of countries have decreased, but the price of the MPPs is always the same, 10000 cc. Many people have suggested that the price of the Pacts should be dynamic, that its price should depend on some factor(s). But nothing changes, and MPPs are a tool less useful than some years ago, but still have their power.
MPPs, if they were signed with every single country that we wanted to have an MPP, are a great tool to check some tensions on the blocs formed by countries that share MPPs.

So...great, we have seen the main problems with alliances and MPPs. Now what?

Now let's look to a real case.

Serbia vs Croatia started a week ago. The historical rivalry between two giants. This should be a great opportunity to see if diplomacy is really working.

Talking about alliances:
There is only a major one; Asteria, formed by some allies of Serbia. So, a major alliance in the entire eWorld, this alliance should have the hegemony on eRepublik. Does this happen? Not even close.
Asteria exists, that it is truth, but that's all we can say about it.
As I said above, communication is key, but then we see articles like this one. A tl;dr version, an ally ruined another ally's plans. This kind of mistakes and lack of communication between the participants on this war lead to a position not so favorable to the Serbia's side. And that leads us to the second point, MPPs. As we can see here, there are some countries that don't exactly tend to one side, but play a big role on the damage calculations. Countries like Greece and Bulgaria (not so visible). And countries that should share MPP and cooperate much more (HunRom).

So you might be asking: is the fact that there are lacks of communication and tensions on a bloc relevant atm?
Of course not. You have been reading this text and probably I may have convinced you at some point. But deep down you already knew. Diplomacy is not a major player on the "today"'s wars.

You know what wins wars.

Combat Orders. Yes, of course.

Combat Orders, since their release, are the new god of battles. Why there is a need for an alliance if you can win it only with cc?

Combat Orders have transformed this Web Based Massive Multiplayer (lol) Online Game into an one man band.

Sorry if I was a bit boring or spoke some nonsense. But anyway, I hope that you have appreciated this outburst.

Basically, this eRepublik is not the same game I fell in love with.

Comrade Franklin Stone
Soldier of Fortune
Over the Back Fence: National Religion

Recently a Socialist Freedom Party Congress Member brought before Congress a discussion Eliminating Any National Religion, concerning the fact that America has a National Religion; a concern brought to him by one of our member constituents concerning what they perceived as institutional racism by the USA Government. Now in the thread [Discussion] Censure pilotphil for Heresy Against the National Religion the Dioist Fanatics admit that Dioism is the National Religion, decreed as such by a long dead and perma banned ex President and so they have made this about getting rid of their religion; which is absolutely not true. The SFP simply wishes to make it clear that America, while supporting citizens right to worship as they see fit; America does not have nor will America ever have a National Religion.

This brought down the might of Dioism upon his head when a WTP and Dioist political leader began the above thread, which brought out the Fanatical Kemal Ergenekon who -much like Ajay Bruno- declared himself Grand Inquisitor and Witch Hunter General. Several things here, in our Constitution America has no National Religion; since that is true how can PilotPhil be a heretic? It seems the Dioist believe -much like a RL Religion- that if I and PilotPhil do not convert, then we should be eliminated from all walks of life including Congress. Now everyone may view what is going on in Public Congress and if you have not read these threads I encourage you to do so, I also encourage you to think for yourself and create your own opinion. Personally I am a Deist Pagan, both in game and in real life and my goddess is all forgiving and if you die without believing; she will forgive you and welcome you to Valhalla. With Dioism you either covert and march to their drummer or you will be eliminated...o/ o/ o/

After reading those threads, if you feel as the SFP feels; that America should have no National Religion, again I would encourage you to follow this Congress Member's advice and start a discussion thread in the General eRepublik Discussion or better yet on the main Congressional board here and ask to have your issues addressed, be sure to mentioned to which party you belong so a Congress Member from your party may address the issue for you. Once more I encourage all Americans, no matter which party you belong to; get involved in YOUR government and make you voice heard. Also so that you may learn Congressional Decorum I direct you to some of my Trash Canned comments in Re: [Discussion] Censure pilotphil for Heresy Against the National Religion, where several of my comments ended up. Take heed of what I have said in those comments and be advised the Hammer is heavy, even though it is wielded fairly -most times.
