[President] Outro

Day 2,876, 15:22 Published in USA USA by Aeriadne
All good things must come to an end.

Three Things Learned
Well, it's here. I never thought I'd get this far, let alone elected, yet here remains the proof. My CP term is now ending.

Thankfully we got rid of that awful moon before October came.

I learned a great deal over the course of the month, and I've distilled most of it down to three bullet points. I write of it now partially as a reminder to myself, somewhat as a recap, but mainly as advice to any new CP who next assumes the throne and is looking for some guidance.

They're things to be aware of, in a wide sense. Lesson to be learned from in this day and age that we play.

Thing 1: Hit the ground running.
There's an incredible amount of momentum at the start of the month. I saw the power that could be harnessed with that during Tyler's most recent CP term. I knew Harvest Festival was going to be hard to sustain, which is why I threw personnel at it early and assembled most of its direction myself. Given the tools, Blande and crew were able to bring about a good deal of fun.

Additionally, perhaps one of the best things to keep momentum going through the full month is to keep on delegating. When Harvest Festival's activities started dying down, I gave a week to my Secretary of Media. What came about was a fun and original usage of the White House Press Room. Keeping the steam is all about engaging in different ways. It ties in with those oldest three rules of leadership: delegate, delegate, delegate.

But delegation isn't the only way to keep the ship righted.

Thing 2: Bring people together to talk, and then listen.
At the beginning of my term, I gave every CP of the last two years PDB access and invited several other advisers on to sit in as well. There were several moments in the month which presented interesting issues to tackle, and I knew I wasn't going to accomplish them on my own. The way he handled them, and the true difference from the term before my month I believe, was this inclusion of multiple opinions of varying experience and involvement.

I wanted the PDB to be a melting pot, and it proved to be just that. I honestly could not have navigated half of this month without the incredible input given by my cabinet and those with PDB access. And what's more, it made logging on to the forum a quiet joy, seeing how full each day's thread was with discussion and ideas.

While these two former points have been somewhat optimistic, there is one rather sobering truth I've learned over the last month, and one that can be read between the lines of these two former points. It's a hard thing to come to terms with, but it's something that needs more awareness.

Thing 3: These are hard times for dreamers.
We are a nation of thinkers now, not dreamers. Some time ago, we traded experimentation and risk-taking for efficiency and security. This is not a bad choice, it is simply a choice. But it is one which makes innovation difficult.

As wonderful as Harvest Festival was, it was difficult to think up interesting things, let alone get others to think out of the box as well. This isn't laying blame at all; this is simply the environment we have fostered. The citizens we are breeding aren't interested in interest, but in how to make things work.

There are up sides and down sides. Most importantly, however, I think there is a way to reincorporate a bit of fun and hijinks into the way we get through our days here. This is a game, after all. And games are meant to be fun.

Three Things Proclaimed
To that end of making things more interesting, I have decided to end today - my last day as President of these United States - with a couple proclamations.

Firstly, I am appointing my dearest Derphoof as Eternal Governor of Spain. May Dio bless is reign, and may he ever provide us with delicious bacon.

Secondly, I am promoting Tenshibo from Secretary of Swag to Director of the CIA. His discerning personality and impeccable taste in musics will provide that long neglected department with the direction it needs.

Finally, I want to say that I have always been fond of helping to incite new government legislation. So, in the interest of a transparent government and giving my dearly beloved Congress something to do and debate, I am offering SCI seats to all currently sitting Congress members. May your guidance guide our gilded halls in matters of finance, and may you all rejoice in this historic step towards inclusion.

Have fun with the legislating! 😁 Thanks for the great month, everyone.
