[MOMS and MOMC] Diwali Celebrations

Day 1,435, 17:52 Published in Pakistan Pakistan by av khan

Hello everyone,

Today starts the festival of Diwali for Hindus and Jains in India. For those who don’t know, Diwali also known as the "festival of lights", is celebrated between mid-October and mid-November for different reasons. For Hindus, Diwali is one of the most important festivals of the year and is celebrated in families by performing traditional activities together in their homes. For Jains, Diwali marks the attainment of moksha or nirvana by Mahavira in 527 BC

Diwali is an official holiday in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Mauritius, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, Suriname, Malaysia, Singapore and Fiji.

Diwali involves the lighting of small clay lamps (diyas or dīpas) filled with oil to signify the triumph of good over evil.

The festival starts with Dhanteras on which most Indian business communities begin their financial year. The second day of the festival, Naraka Chaturdasi, marks the vanquishing of the demon Naraka by Lord Krishna and his wife Satyabhama. Amavasya, the third day of Diwali, marks the worship of Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth in her most benevolent mood, fulfilling the wishes of her devotees. Amavasya also tells the story of Lord Vishnu, who in his dwarf incarnation vanquished the Bali, and banished him to Patala. It is on the fourth day of Diwali, Kartika Shudda Padyami, that Bali went to patala and took the reins of his new kingdom in there. The fifth day is referred to as Yama Dvitiya (also called Bhai Dooj), and on this day sisters invite their brothers to their homes.

While the story behind Diwali and the manner of celebration varies from region to region (festive fireworks, worship, lights, sharing of sweets), the essence is the same – to rejoice in the Inner Light (Atman) or the underlying Reality of all things (Brahman).

Now for the fun part! I had to conduct 2 competitions and then I came up with the idea, why not celebrate Diwali with the Indians and also hold the competition at the same time to increase the festivity and also improve relations between the neighbors. Anyways, thinking that I sent a message to troj4n20 and presented my idea to which he agreed. Consequently the rest of 2 competitions planned are going to be conducted in collaboration with Ministry of Media and Culture, eIndia. Which means that the prize of competition has also increased. The prize now will be 3000 PKR and 2000 INR.
As nobody suggested anything in my article for these competitions. So I decided on my own. Today’s competition will be ‘Best Song Competition’ while the next one will be ‘Best Avatar Competition’ which will be held in eIndia sometime later.
The donations if any, will go to all participants equally and hey, senior players cough up some I am low on money 😁 though don’t make this an excuse to not take part in competition.

The rules :
1. Of course, you have to post a link to your favourite song in comments.
2. You have to add me as friend, if not already added and you MUST shout the article.
Simple as that.
