[MoI] Ally of the week #USA

Day 2,729, 07:33 Published in Netherlands Netherlands by Ministerie van Media en Recrui

Dear citizens of the eNetherlands

Welcome to the first edition of the 'Ally of the week' Project. This week, we will focus on our oldest ally, the USA

We will publish an article each week, with information about the relation between the eNetherlands, and the ally that is chosen. Also we will give you some information about the real life relationship with the ally.
In-game relationship

Who can tell us better about the in-game relationship with the USA than our own Foreign Affairs team. This is why I asked Gen de la Rey, Willem The Conqueror and Mattio what they can tell, and what they think about the relationship with the USA.

We start up with our Minister,

Gen de la Rey

The US are an important ally to us. I remember doing two airstrikes to Baja in Mexico, on behalf of the USA. http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/gids-voor-baja-luchtaanval-guide-for-baja-air-strike-2384327/1/20. I also remember them helping us with our war against Norway during No Tie's presidency about 9 to 10 months ago. It's good to know we have each other's back.

Willem The Conqueror

Our relations with the United States of America are fairly good, an example of that friendship are the baja strikes, some of you will remember those strikes but it doesn't matter at the moment what they were about, what matters is, is that those strikes were set up by the Dutch and the American government which is a sign of good relations. Some people in our community, or people who are in touch
with our community have communication lines with some US political figures, this, of course, helpes the Netherlands in our relation with the US. We also have an MPP with the US, now some of you can debate about the purpose of the MPP, but it is a sign of good relations. I can go on with 'signs of great relations' but I think it is already clear that the relations with the United States of America
are, at the moment, on a pretty high level.

Mattio

The USA are one of our oldest allies whom we have trusted many times in the past and hopefully will in the future too. They were an easy choice as first Ally of the Week. It is important to have at least one ally that we share mutual loyalty with and I can only hope the US community sees my country in the way I see theirs!
I also asked Garmr what he thinks about the USA, he has served the eNetherlands for a long time, and he is currently the MoD of the USA:

Back in 2010, after the JCS debacle in the eUSA, a newly formed MU called the Special Forces was formed. This amazing group of people radiated of prestige worldwide, and attracted a number of top tanks and high ranking politicians from eNL, notably epix, antiko, Luuklag, Auggustus, Heikanu, Trical and myself. The relation between NL and USA started at this point, with me moving through the SF ranks up to being responsible for the entire EU division (150 soldiers) and becoming increasingly involved with NSC work. Later on Fhaemita joined NL as well, who has held positions as Speaker and Secretary of State in the USA. Both of us are in touch with the highest regions of both communities, and because NL is a minor player in the world we can strive towards aiding both countries without any conflict of interest.

And last but not least, I asked the CP of the USA to tell me about the relationship,
trekker tlumac

I appreciate the friendship that Netherlands brings to the table. I was glad when we could sign our present MPP. I had hoped that I would be able to before I was out of office. And I also have enjoyed stealing you former Dictator (Garmr) to work in my cabinet. He has been a great asset, and if all people of the Netherlands are half as productive it was a well made MPP indeed.
Real life relationship

The Netherlands and the USA have been friends for a long time already. former president George W. Bush described our relationship with 'Brother Nations', and the current president Barack Obama said these words:

'closest friends which friendship will never die'

and

'Without the Netherlands there wouldn't be a United States of America as everyone knows it now'
fun facts:
* Martin Van Buren was the only non english person to be president of the United States, since MvB was Dutch, he was also the 3th elected president.
* The Roosevelt family is one of the most prominent American families, with Dutch ties, Theodor Roosevelt also spoke some Dutch
* The Netherlands was the first foreign country to salute the American Flag on November 16, 1776 and therefore the first foreign nation to (unofficially) recognize the United States as an independent nation.
* On 19 April 1782 John Adams was received by the States General in The Hague and recognized as Minister Plenipotentiary of the United States of America.
* The house that Adams purchased in The Hague became the first American embassy in the world.
This was it for this week, I hope you enjoyed reading this article. we will also publish a similar article in the USA, when it is published, the link will be here
