[MoFA]Cover Story & Sirius HQ Elections

Day 2,394, 14:19 Published in United Kingdom North Macedonia by Foreign Office

We will be updating you on the Sirius HQ elections that were held tonight, and we also have the opportunity to show the work of one of our ambassadors this term, Tiger Style. He’s both covered the recent events of the nation and did an interview with a member of that nation on the country's recent events. The nation he covered was the USA, and the actual story is coming up next!

Cover Story

In recent times, our headlines have been dominated by the United States’ departure from Sirius, and officials from both sides attempting to explain and justify what happened during the last month. Thus, it is only fitting that we take a look at our erstwhile alliance members in the first analysis of a foreign nation done by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Since leaving Sirius, the United States has been in a debate on whether their departure represented a key and important strategic move, or a blunder caused by a perceived ineptitude of Molly Emma. This divide in the United States’ society can be seen in the latest Presidential elections where Molly Emma - supported by the Federalist Party, United States Workers’ Party, and American Military Party - earned a hard-fought and narrow victory over John Largo who was supported by the Black Sheep Party, We The People, and the Socialist Freedom Party. Molly Emma won the election via a vote of 525 to 508. This victory has given Molly Emma the mandate to begin reworking the United States’ foreign policy, and she has recently announced that her Secretary of State, Wild Owl, has been working on something big that will be announced in the near future.

Another issue facing the United States is the debate over whether to lower taxes. The Black Sheep and Federalist parties have made lowering taxes one of their primary objectives. Naturally, this debate has led to many acrimonious confrontations between parties, and has led to a large amount of disunity in the United States. Other issues facing the United States include the funding of official government-approved military units and private militias, and the declining population that is being felt all across erepublik.

The United States has also announced an end to its ATO, or Anti-Take Over, of the American Freedom Alliance, a party that was formerly controlled by Ronald Gipper Reagan who is also known by other names including Ajay Bruno and Pizza the Hut, in return for their dropping all support for Ronald Gipper Reagan, promising not to interfere with the Top 5 parties, and creating a military unit that will fight for the United States,

Whether the United States will stay pro-Sirius or completely rework their entire foreign policy has yet to be seen. At the moment, they seem to be largely focused on continuing with their policy of creating NAPs, or Non-Aggression Pacts, with their close neighbors, and remain pro-Sirius. As such, their long term relationship with our own nation will be in question until their intentions become clear.

Interview with David Wilson

David Wilson - Deputy Speaker of the House and American Military Party (AMP) Chief of Staff

Former AMP Party President, United States Chief of Staff, Secretary of Defense, Deputy Secretary of State, Deputy Speaker of the House, and a 9 time congressman in the United States

1. What is your opinion on the United States’ departure from Sirius?

I think that it is unfortunate for the alliance, and less than ideal for the United States, but with most countries signing regional NAPs and focusing on securing their borders I think the USA are well protected and in a place where we can help those with whom we share MPPs, including most Sirius nations.

2. Do you think that relations between the United States and United Kingdom will remain friendly despite the Sirius events?

I know that there are individuals in the UK government with whom we maintain good relations. I think it will be dependent on the party and leadership in power which changes from month to month. For the most part though, yes, our commitment to the UK is strong.

3. Do you think it would be conceivable that the United States could possibly rejoin Sirius in the future?

It doesn’t seem likely to me.

4. Were you surprised when John Largo failed to obtain the nomination of your party for President?

Not especially. Our party has always had diverse representation from many military units both public and private. John Largo’s CP run was a bit of a surprise to many and his cabinet had some members who draw great disdain from many in AMP.

5. Did you personally support his bid? Or did you support Molly Emma?

I supported Molly Emma this month.

6. Besides the disdainful cabinet members of John Largo that you mentioned, what brought you to support Molly Emma?

I talked to Wild Owl about what transpired in Sirius and I trust Molly Emma and most of her story. I supported her response to the situations she was met with, and believe we need some consistency during this time.

7. We’ve heard that many insults were thrown about during the presidential campaign. Has this negatively affected relations between the parties supporting Molly Emma and those supporting John Largo?

Most of the bad blood started in Congress during the work tax debate. I would say the insults have more to do with that than anything. The Black Sheep Party and Federalist Party are dead set on lowering the work tax. John Largo has a plan to make that easier. I still have good relations with many in the Federalist Party. The Black Sheep Party, however, are mostly a one-issue party and they are new to the political scene.

8. What are the most important issues in the United States right now? Economic, political, social, military?

Economic, it is the debate over the 10% work tax and the appropriate level of reserves. Military, it is over the divide between the government funded USAF and the many private MUs. Political is basically over those two issues as well, perhaps adding in foreign policy and war and government transparency.

9. The United States has just accepted a Mutual Protection Pact with Poland, correct?

Yes.

10. What is your opinion on that Mutual Protection Pact? Good or bad?

I think it is beneficial for the USA to have a country like Poland on our side. However, we also have some NAPs that will prevent us from helping them in every way they desire and I’m sure that is the case for them as well.

11. In her latest article, Molly Emma hinted that something big was in the works. Do you have any idea what this could be?

I know that people are looking for more bonuses, and that USA loves war. I suspect it will be some sort of military aggression.
