[Lonqu] Realities of a PTO

Day 2,309, 06:24 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Lonqu

Hello.

This newspaper has been essentially gathering up dust for a long time, since I have not participated in high-level government work for some time. However, I decided to dust it down, sit down and write about my views on this whole debacle of a situation, in order to give a personal viewpoint from someone with sadly too much experience of what a PTO is.

Note: Apologies, my article-writing is a bit rusty.

1. Loss of Political Liberty
Some argue that NE and TUP fight too much and it is harming us. Well, that is a good point, but it proves one thing. We have the privilege to fight whenever and whoever we want. Likewise, we have the privilege to join whatever party we choose, to argue our ideals, to do whatever we want in the great political kaleidoscope that is the eUK. That is what makes the eUK beautiful as a political state, if one relegates the occasional personal attacks to the back of his mind.

A PTO means we will not have those privileges and freedoms any more. It is important we kill off any threat to our political life before it starts to spread. Look at Singapore and Thailand – effectively New Serbia and New Romania. A complacent guy would argue that this won’t happen to us, we’ll be fine. Bulls*** I say.

2. Loss of Administrative Liberty
This is basically a knock-on effect from the loss of political liberty. Right now we have a dear Congress, who do nothing but argue all day and vote on legislation. The government informs Congress and includes them in decision-making processes.

Now, imagine a hostile gaining the Presidency and us not having more than 66% of the seats in congress. It would be impossible for us to impeach him. Sure, we could vote down his proposals and make our own, but there are always metagame decisions to do, such as agreements etc. And this PTO CP has no obligation to consult Congress. Some countries will always recognise a PTO government as legitimate, and give us a steaming diplomatic mess if the eUK does ever come back to power.

Now, think of it the other way round. We have the Presidency, but no control of Congress. We’d be able to do metagame decisions, but no ingame decisions. And I won’t mention what happens when they get 66%. You’ll know already.

There are a whole lot of points I could make, but I don’t have the time. You might be surprised at the venom in this article. I have experienced the stain of a PTO in eIndia. Some in the eUK say a PTO will be fine and dandy (Sexagenarian, I’m looking at you). I completely assure you it will not be. Stop blaming each other. Forget political divisions – put them to one side, and pull together. Nip this in the bud before it spreads. Because once it spreads, we’re going to have quite the fight on our hands.

Lonqu.
