Domestic Manifesto

What comes to mind when you think of the Ministry of Home Affairs? Large? In need of an update? Uncommunicative? Lackluster?

Well its time for a change, I want to see the MoHA more actively involved, I want to see video tutorials and guides being produced to help us retain new players and advise the old. I really want to see this ministry come back with energy, enthusiasm and ideas.

Our new citizen message is currently laced with links, tutorials, portal pages, and words that many new citizens may not bother to read. We need to break things down as easy as possible, for them to understand. I propose that we do this in two steps:

First, we remove most of the links, fluff, and message to the New Citizen Message that gets sent out. This is normally a Congressional function, but instead we tie it into an Org specifically run for new Citizens.. In the new citizen message, we send out two links only: The portal page on the Wiki, and the organisation used for contact with new players. We then introduce a new IRC channel which will aim to have MoHA staff in 24/7 to answer any questions players may have regarding game play as well as responding to all mails to the org within 24 hours.

I believe if we can inform new players, help them out, give them a fighting chance, that we can grow as a nation and stop the ever increasing number of players leaving due to frustration and lack of understanding. We can put an emphasis on joining the forum community and increasing players involvement and fun.

As we can see (http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Portal:United_Kingdom, the current wiki page is not nearly efficient enough to keep us updated, and I feel like some new oversight needs to be installed.

Essentially, we've got a lot of stuff going. Entertainment, New Citizens Departments and so on, yet we continually try to develop new things while our current programs suffer because no one actually does them. The problem isn't the labor, it's the oversight. We need to continually update and oversee things, not just casually.

I will continually check on things such as wiki pages (like the aforementioned Portal Page which is three months outdated), New Citizen Messaging, and all other programs to ensure they're running.

For literally three months, we've seen no sign of the Entertainment department. They have continually held that they are active, yet each month passes without sign of improvement. We'll go to having one competition per week, with prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. It could be anything from trivia to online gaming to poker, just to keep people entertained.

We will discontinue handing out moving tickets. Considering they're expensive as it is, and not necessary to get to a hospital, we'll continue to encourage people to join the army, but leave London as it is unless we experience a sharp drop in population. Do not misunderstand, we're OK with the current population in London and suggest the 4,000 citizens there remain, but we don't see a need to move more.

As the most important focal point of Domestic affairs, we'll be focusing the Ministries of Legislation, Industry and Technology through the MoHA rather than directly through the PM, to keep the PM free of duties that he does not need to directly oversee. The Deputy Prime Minister should have set responsibilities, not just some floater to move around and do things that he wants.

In short, this keeps a large majority of the Government focused domestically on its citizenry, while the PM, and Military can do their jobs keeping our nation safe.

MoTA - Ministry of Technological Andancement

I believe the Ministry of Technological Advancement is an under used ministry. I believe this ministry should become the heart of all ministries with information and tools provided to help give every minister an advantage in their role.

With this in mind I plan to introduce a full set of tools that will allow ministries to communicate with each other via one central point. I plan to remove as many google docs, forms and spreadsheets as possible and replace them with easy to read tables and forms. This system will remove the repetitive nature of many jobs and allow calculations and reports to be produced almost instantly.

This will help bring the eUK Government into the new version of erepublik and make use of the data and tools available. It will allow us as a nation to take a step forward and begin to see more of what goes on. More accurate predictions can be made, patterns can be spotted, alerts can be issued and even more can be added to allow us to further develop ourselves.

Under my presidency I plan to introduce a central government site to which all ministries that require tools will have access as well as selected congress officials. These ministries will be able to:

Ministry of Finance:
- Track Income and Expenditure with graphical reports able to be copied to congress when needed
- More accurate predictions to be made on spending
- Areas for savings to be identified
- Monetary markets monitored and used to make more money effectively
- Tax revenue to be estimated

Ministry of Home Affairs:
- Mass mail the general population, including filtering down on certain criteria to target people more specifically.
- Template mails to be added and used.
- Logs of who has sent what and when with conflict detection to stop multiple members sending to the same player
- Polls to be produced with API verification to allow players in game to partake in fun polls and awards.

Ministry of Industry:
- An overview with graphical data of the numbers of players in each profession and the demands for that profession
- Information on the number of companies in each industry and estimated trade income / expenditure
- Information on government owed companies, with alerts and links to companies with low levels of RM’s / wages.
- Product price and product availability monitoring to allow us to be better prepared for any issues that may accord due to this

Ministry of Legislative Affairs:
- Polls / Nominations with API verifications for the National Prize
- Referendum ability to allow national referendums.

All Ministries:
- Ability to advertise for jobs and accept applications using the API verification.
- Reports can be produced and copied pre-formated with BB codes) to the forums
- Logs of who has done what to allow you to better tell who has done their job and who hasn’t
