[INFO] Governement Meeting

Dear Citizens,
As you all know last week a lot has happened in the UNL.
Sundaynight the government and the partypresidents of the top 5 parties had a meeting on IRC. The meeting was arranged by our Prime Minister Olv007. Unfortunately not all ministers and Party Presidents could attend at the meeting due to the late announcement but we couldn't wait any longer.
We have had a discussion about several points:
* Namechange
* Inactivity of our president, thomasRed
* The PTO in the UNL
Namechange
The parties agreed that the namechange is an important point that need to be discussed, but we won't want to do it in the next 4 days. The Government needs to take the time after the congress elections to analyze deeply the current situation.
If the name will change it will takes a lot of work and time and it have to be done on a decent way. A namechange affect more than only the forum. The names of the statecompanies have to be changed, make new IRC channels, etc etc.
The next government should start with the discussion of the namechange as one of her first priorities.
Inactivity of our President, ThomasRed
Our president ThomasRed hasn't been active the last week due to RL problems. The Government respects this as and therefore will wait until the next congress elections to give ThomasRed the possibility to express himself about the reason of his inactivity. Without this reason the government will make a decision on what to do to assure the presidency of our country and his duties.
For the moment the government will take over the tasks of ThomasRed. Foreign affairs and Defense is working on renewing our Alliances. We don't have an active president so we will ask presidents from other countries to make the needed proposals for the Alliances.
EDIT: Last Minute! ThomasRed answered on the Congress Forum concerning the proposal for a new alliance with our friends of eHungary. He ended his post with the words: "I canno't wait to find back all my all good erepublik friends and all these beautiful debates on our forum !

The PTO in the UNL
In the first time in our young history as Union some citizens tried to take over an active party. Our defense minister reacted right away and he called in the army to stop the PTO. We all have seen the discussions about the minister if he had made the right decision. Also the congress had to vote if they wanted the minister to continue his job. The votes where in favor of the minister. So he could continue as defense minister.
The minister called in the army, because he thought that was the right decision at that time. He also got support from several ministers at that time.
Last night we discussed the roll of defense in these rare events. We have decided that we will have a look on the tasks of defense and we will see how to clarify some tasks from defense so that we won't have these discussions in the future anymore.
Union of our Country

If you have questions about what is going on in a ministry feel free to contact one of the ministers. That is always the best way to get information. We are still publishing weekly news, so plenty of news.
I don't find some posts from our president convincing me of his activity.

Olv007, he means a public article. You know, telling your governing colleagues that you are active is NOT enough.
You need to tell the people too, he was elected by and for the people.
Politics here is just as in real life, let the next government deal with the issues at hand 🙂

NAME CHANGE debate again? This was idea was only recently defeated in a forum referendum.
You can't just return to the same question again and force it through so soon after a defeat on the issue. This isn't the RL Lisbon Treaty you know! 🙂
It only disappeared coz it ran out of hand. ONly yes/no referendum shud be organised. And lisbon treaty sucks 😃
Hugo, it won't be forced and in the previous form people didn't like it. Discussion is always possible and maybe a better namechange-proposition.
@kixtart: that wasn't an answer. Why are you and ArtemIvanov on that list? You're neither ministers nor party presidents and I would just like to know 🙂

Olv007 asked me if I would sign it also, since I was part of some discussions and was general of army/advisor in government. General is somewhat the same as secretary of the ministry of defense.
Ah, that explains a bit. And what about ArtemIvanov?
I think he was acting representative for LSD until Cocoamok could be online in the discussion.
Great that the government is aiming for a great Unity in the United Netherlands! The fact that people are asked to sign a document that is aiming for unity. Government, I appreciate this action!

@olv007: Thank you for your confirmation, although I have no doubts myself about Kixtarts integrity regarding this, perhaps others have and a confirmation is always nice to have in such a case 🙂
