[EN] Romania's foreign policy. Why we should think OUTSIDE the box.
PaulTC
As most of you already know, Romania has officially left EDEN. This law represents an action that should’ve been done a long time ago: http://www.erepublik.com/en/main/law/Romania/126307 . Someone had to finally take the bull by the horns. There had been several attemts in the past few months, from all EDEN countries, a lot of countries left the alliance, but no one seemed to be able to turn the lights off. I will not go into details as to why, there are enough articles explaining the reasons of EDEN’s decline in the last 2 years. Why was not the alliance dissolved yet? Under the appearences of moral issues and protecting the “brotherhood”, there was a huge lack of courage to finally face the facts and take risks. Everyone wanted to avoid taking the blame.
Instead, I will focus this article onto the future, into what the game will look like after this irreversible change, what direction should Romania choose from now on? Right now, there are two opportunities which can emerge, after Romania left EDEN and signed an MPP with Serbia and Slovenia. One is an easy way, one’s a much harder, but much more interesting way, in my opinion:
First of all, the easy way: ’TWO’ vs CoT. Romania can simply join ‘TWO’, and fight against Circle of Trust from now on. Most probably, EDEN countries will be split between the two major alliances, completing the last piece of the jigsaw of the ‘TWO’ vs CoT conflict. This would be an easy way to continue the game, but certainly one that will draw the most critics. Joining ‘TWO’ at this moment will be seen by many as an act of cowardace. A lot of Romanians will see this as Romania becoming a puppet, fighting for TWO’s biggest enemies, at TWO’s command. An opinion which can be valid, but far from the truth.
Let’s not forget that Serbia and TWO also sacrificed its relationship with Bulgaria and CoT countries to sign this MPP with Romania in this moment, when Romania is at open war against Bulgaria. Romania is not the only one that took a risk with this move, and had to sacrifice some of its past to do so. The CoTWO alliance was objectively impossible to defeat, thus making the game incredibly predictable and lacking of a challenge. The TWO countries could’ve simply sat back and relaxed with their big bonuses, while having fun watching EDEN countries struggleing every month to have Congressial elections (All except China and Croatia, which are confortably sitting in far away lands). But that is not fun, nor interesting. People need a new challenge. TWO knows this, and took this risk to make the game more challenging and interesting by ending EDEN once and for all.
The first sign of this thirst for a challenge was the TWO campaign in Russia. Facing the opposition of the Russians, which very intelligently speculated their relationships in CoT + EDEN Chinese oldfags’ interests of keeping TWO away from their bonuses, TWO failed. This was the first major blow for CoTWO, and the first sign of the major boredom that settled in this relationship. After this, it was going to be very clear that some day, TWO and CoT will eventually cross swords. There was no way back. CoT accepted USA in their family thinking of the future, and the need to define themselves as a strong and independent alliance, separating themselves from TWO’s warm embrace. A logical move when you think about it.
This all seems to pan out as a TWO vs CoT war, isn’t it? Every piece of the puzzle of the last 6-8 months suggests so, but is there an alternative to all this?
Yes, there is. Think outside the box!
It’s much harder and it takes much more work an patience. Right now Romania finds itself in the middle, in the situation of having new allies whilst also keeping a relationship with old allies. All the recent actions never suggested that Romania wants to separate itself completely from the old allies, on the contrary. All Romania wants to do is to make the game more interesting. If you see it this way, dear Greece, Croatia, Argentina, Turkey , etc., you will stop acting in denial and call Romania a traitor, and see this as an opportunity, an open door for future possibilities.
That “Balkan League” idea was a great idea, an interesting way to “think outside the box” and take a new directions that can change the game forever. But we need more than that. We need a new alliance that can break the barriers of the Balkans, one that can make this game fun an interesting for everyone. We need a “New eWorld Order”, something that has never been seen before in this game, and that can incorporate countries from any continent. If you set aside some of that foolish pride, Romania, Greece, Croatia, Serbia, Turkey, Poland, Hungary, Spain, Argentina, etc, we can form the strongest alliance that this game has ever seen. But in order for this to be possible, we need leaders that can think more than one-sided, we need open leaders that can think outside the box. You, the elites, must take action and think above the one-sided thinking of the common people, you need to come up with a new solution.
But remember, in order to do this, we ALL need to sacrifice something. Great successes come with great sacrifice. You can’t expect to always have the higher ground in everything. Instead, try to find that common ground with everyone. Sacrifice some of the pride for the common good, and you will see greater reward in the future. This is what I pledge for, and this is my philosophy, since the beginning of the game.
As I said, this will not be easy, and it will take months before it can finally be possible, but from now on I will dedicate myself to this goal, because I like challenges.
No matter what happens next, I will fight for Romania, and for our great friends, both the old AND the new ones. If it comes to a vote in the Congress, I will vote against joining the TWO alliance, if we are to go alone, because I want more, both for my country and for our TRUE friends in this game, old and new, the ones that always help us, no matter the situation.

For some time I think Romania must remain independent.
Good article.

Același clonoss, penibil ca de obicei.

I prefer the box that I made for myself than to get my head outside this box and live in another one that others made for me. You will never get what I just wrote.
china oldfag all the way
Yes and I stand by my decision. I was Romanian, Croatian, Bosnian, Finnish. Always citizen of EDEN, always helping against a PTO or doing damage control. But we had economy. I fight, you just talk. That's the difference. Fighting takes up resources and I don't get payed for my damage. Do the math.
For an old player such as yourself, your lack of intelligence and any common sense is depressing.
You fight for youself, we fight for our community, that's the difference. Why do our people have to go to Serbia to get the resources that you have access to? Why doesn't the Chinese Congress give citizenships to any EDEN soldier? My common sense tells me that you need to be part of a very close group to get access to those kinds of advantages.
I agree with Paul T. Craciunescu, and voted the Article for its clear messages and the alternative analysis.
alpho will always be a fag, old or new.
I respect old players alpho, but when you say that you prefer the box you made just for yourself, then you get selfish. What I can understand from this words is that you played the game just for your own interests and not those of the country that you so much blame right now. Like i said in other articles, we do not know yet if what is happening now for eRO is good or wrong. Only time will decide that.
The funny thing is that nobody asked the romanians what they want to do. Few months ago, when they did that, the romanians voted to stay in EDEN.
But it's a normal thing for the politicians to not give a f@#k about what people want.
🙂 one country 5000 opinions
dar 3000 ziceau eden si 1500 afara 500 erau beti
totMarius, a fost diferenta doar de cateva voturi, sub 20. Si doar Schmidt Bogdan era beat 😁
Politicians were voted into Congress to act upon the will of the voters. The laws were voted to the interest of the eRomanian citizens.
I don't think you can argue with this, and if you don't agree, you can promote your own Congressmen to vote and take decisions of your liking...
good article - voted
