[Elite] IFP PP Election

Hey guys,

I'm announcing my intention to seek the position of Party President of the IFP.

In what would be my 10th term as PP of the party, I hope to set the party apart from the rest of those in eIreland and show eIreland that we have a purpose.

The problem in the IFP at the moment is that we have always identified ‘Freedom’ as our party’s policy, without ever acknowledging what that means. When I was PP a few years ago we made some effort to create party policies but the result was quite disappointing as we failed to distinguish ourselves sufficiently from others. In a country with two dominating parties with two very different ideologies, we need to act as the middle-ground and show that we are the most viable party for long-term stability in this country. I plan to hold a meet with party members to discuss our policies with an aim to create a party ‘brand’.

I hope to set-up an IFP ‘front bench’ that can produce articles regularly on government activity. This was a system I operated before as PP that was relatively successful particularly in making the public aware of our existence!

Our membership has been declining recently. We need to create more of a presence to ensure that our active membership picks up. You can have all the two-clickers in the world but without active members the party falls flat. I will appoint a Membership Officer whose priority will be to recruit and retain members.

We have always provided a communal middle ground and that is our appeal. I'm hopeful that we can continue this. As always I want the IFP to consider any coalition offer from any party or person, if we can come to a prior agreement on policy issues. Everyone should be welcome to approach us and will be happy to talk to anyone who has the interests of eIreland at heart.
