[DonMogul] Honour and Integrity

Day 1,856, 08:12 Published in India India by deadlydisaster

It saddens me to see my beloved nation in such turmoil. We strove for so long as a pro-ATLANTIS, EDEN (or whatever other alliance by different names but same member countries) nation and yet we have to wonder what have we gained? Seriously, what have we gained since admission to GEA?

Brotherhood and Allies?

We already had those. In fact, we had a lot more MPPs with different nations than we do today. Bulgaria anyone?

Protection?

Only when it suits those that make the decisions.

Money?

While extra money is nice what is REALLY needed is fiscal and monetary discipline. India spends far too much for a nation of its size on certain programs for people who shouldn't need such aid in times of relative peace.

The Rental Agreements

I, for one, find it amusing that people object to our government sending another government a bill to pay for region rent THAT WAS AGREED to by both parties AND has been going on for MONTHS.

And people are only just starting to complain now?

We don't ask much from our comrades in arms. I think I can safely speak on behalf of all Indians when I say we expect what we give.

Honour and integrity. We give our word. We keep our word. We give our support wherever needed.

You give your word to return a region? We expect you to keep it.

However, we aren't unreasonable. We know things change quickly in eRepublik. So if some issue arises that makes the orignal plan unfeasbile... TALK TO US. You'll find India agreeable to decent two-way discussions.

History Lesson - Caught between a rock and a hard place

This is an all to familiar picture for India. We are caught in between two super blocs vying for supremacy over the other.

I remember back a while (back in ATLANTIS days I believe) where India did not have many of her regions but valiantly defended what she had. Romania was charging through Europe and Asia. Romania was gunning for Indonesia.
After some shrewd analysis of Romania's route, Indonesia started a resistance war in (Tamil Nadu?) to block the route.

Now this was when India was offcially neutral but pro-ATLANTIS (which is fair enough given the constant aggression PTO and otherwise we have suffered from PEACE and her Pro-nations). With Indonsians fighting for the resistance the region was liberated.

Then started a massive mud slinging event.

Romania demanded that we allow them to conquer that region and carry on with their war. They offered some considerable inducemnts (Q5 hospital? And GOLD?) for the region. We were also advised that should we refuse the deal that Romania would attack. Romania would conquer. And would NOT negotiate the return of the region.

Indonesia made a similar offer... with similar threats attached to the end.

We eventually chose Romania's deal and off they went.

Neither major alliance in this game is totally honorable.

What should we do?

We COULD stay with EDEN err sorry we arent EDEN.... GEA.

OR we could do a UK and do a total back flip and join PEACE/ONE/TWO/OMG/LOL/BBQ.

I know one thing for sure.

Neutrality? Its not for us. Not anymore.

I would suggest to those making the decisions for my eRepublik homeland to mend fences among those we already have friendly relations with.

The old saying of "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush" applies.
