[DoEE] The Senate Elections

Day 2,743, 05:58 Published in Australia Australia by Aus Ministry of Finance

The elections for Congress are held every 25th of the month. That would be overnight (Australian time), and tomorrow.

Who can run for Congress?

The game allows only the 5 parties with the most members at 02:00 of 23rd of each month to submit a list of candidates on 24th. That is, the Top 5 political parties nominate representatives for congress.

Each player belonging to a party (not just a top 5 party) can apply via the party page, you can reach it from Community > My Party.

The last button on the bottom right.

You can leave the presentation input link blank (honestly, party presidents don't really look at these...).

As described in the last picture, the party president's task is to sort the list of candidates to determine their list preferences. They order the candidates from those that nominated themselves on the 24th of every month.

On the 25th of every month, citizens are called to vote by voting for a party, not a single candidate.

The day following the election day, the 26th of the month at or about 06:00 on the game server, the results are published with the percentages of preferences gathered by the top 5 parties. Based on these preferences the number of members of Congress assigned to each party is calculated.

What if...
- a party gets 10 seats but presented less candidates? The seat is not reassigned to other parties.

- a party gets 10 seats but has presented several candidates? Only the top 10 in the list of preferences goes to Congress.

At the end, we note that each nation can get a maximum of 40 seats to Congress. For each region owned by the nation, it will get 10 seats in the congress, up to a maximum of 40 (minimum 4 regions to take the most of the seats).
The game considered the regions held by the nation at 02:00 of the game server time of the 23rd day of the month. If at that time a nation has 0 regions they do not hold elections. This is a very bad situation for a country to be in...

What are the duties of elected Congress representatives?

Each congressman receives a medal and 5 gold for their efforts. Some members of Congress choose to donate these gold to the nation, in their discretion. There is no official rule about this.

Members of Congress get the powers in the game include:
- The possibility of voting all the laws in the game.
- The ability to propose two bills in the game.
- The possibility of granting citizenship once/month.
- The ability to offer his resignation.

The bills in the game include:
- Taxation.
- Minimum salary.
- Proposal for impeachment of the president (requires 66% to pass, as opposed to all the others that require 50% + 1).
- Donations from the national treasury to players or organisation accounts.

In addition, members of Congress can vote the proposals of the President:
- Mutual protection pact.
- Welcome message for new citizens.
- Natural Enemy.

Citizenships passes that every member of Congress can assign depend on the number of active citizens of the nation.
It is calculated by taking 10% of active citizens, divided by the number of members of Congress.
So, with 450 active citizens and 40 members of Congress, we have: (450 * 0.1) /40 = 1.125 (rounded to 1).

Congress members should remember that the citizenship pass power is given to them by the community, and should be used for the community benefit rather than their own personal agenda.

What about the dictatorship?

Since February 2015 the dictatorship module has been introduced, which effectively makes it useless to be member of Congress and Country President.
All their in-game powers are effectively hijacked by the dictator. Elections are held normally, but there is no 5 gold reward.
