[CP] - Training War Announcement - 1674

Greetings eBelgians!

Today I'm happy to announce that I've arranged for a training war (TW) with our neighbor eGermanyeNetherlands. I know there has been a demand for quite a while, and the TW should fill one of the "DO WANT" check-boxes on your survey forms.

So if you are a bit new to the game, you may not know what a TW is.

What is a TW?

A TW is an agreement between two friendly countries to engage in a pre-arranged war with set limits and conditions. It isn't a regular war fought for permanent control of a region or two or a country or five because of resources or politics. It is a relatively friendly affair, a bit of a scrum and everyone shakes hands at the end, and then enjoys their beverage of choice.

Why a TW?

A TW allows newer players to understand the mechanics of an actual war, with less risk. Since the limits of the TW are pre-defined, both countries aren't fighting at full effort for victory, so mistakes of individual soldiers or mistakes of a MU such as when to fight in which round, if they should use bazookas, all those decisions are relatively consequence-free.

What's in it for me?

A TW allows newer players to finish those pesky missions that require an actual battle for your side to complete. It also lets everyone work on the new True Patriot (TP) medals, which are quick and easy gold (at least the first few ones). And more gold is almost always better than no gold.

OK, so if it is so great, why don't we have one all the time?

Both sides have to agree to a TW, and be able to commit the energy and effort to making sure it goes smoothly. Most countries in eRepublik are fighting actual wars, so normally can't divide their attention between a war with no direct benefit (no conquered regions, no extra resources) and a war that may very well decide the fate of their country. eEurope in the vicinity of eBE is a hotbed of activity around us, so it took a while for the details to be worked out for this particular TW.

So what happens?

eBelgiumeNetherlands will start a congress vote to declare eBelgiumeGermany a Natural Enemy (NE). After 24 hours, the NE vote passing triggers a war between eBE and eNLeGer. eBEeNL will then be able to launch an attack on eBelgiumeGermany. The plan is for eGereNL to win that battle, then take the fight into eBE. Hilarity and training starts, monitored and controlled by both sides to ensure the intended result.

It is important to remember that you should not "over-fight" and use bazookas and energy bars unless explicitly told to do so. Stockpile those for the day (far in the future) when eBelgium is involved in a for-reals war.

So watch for updates and if you are a congressmember, be sure to vote "YES" on the NE proposal!
