Goin' Out
Day 2308 of the New World
March 16, 2014
Fellow Citizens of eUSA,
Today I want to write out my case for Operation Grey Cup, the war against Canada. In prior writings I have indicated that there are benefits to Sirius and eUSA in terms of Foreign Affairs. Certainly it is self-evident that we cannot share a continent with an ally of Serbia. But there are some very compelling Domestic reasons why this war is very good for eUSA.
In fact, I am confident that this sustained war against our Northern Neighbors is the best thing for our country. I respect those who present a different opinion. I still think they are wrong.
NE+FIGHT=Gold
Reason #1 - True Patriot Gold
The math is so simple. A 10% bonus on every fight click combined with the mechanics of the True Patriot medal means that you are earning valuable Gold while fighting against Canada. (BTW they are earning gold by fighting against us too... war is an acceptable and desirable dynamic of this game. Hello?) Gold is the important currency in eRepublik, so if you are not fighting against Canada right now, you are doing it wrong.

Reason #2 - Increased Game Activity
Before I was elected, I began a survey of eUSA’s population in comparison with the rest of the eWorld. I used the three metrics tracked by egov4you, Active Citizens, Active Fighters, and Influence. Let’s see how we’ve done compared to the rest of the eWorld in March as compared to February:
It is a little too early yet in March to make too much out of these numbers, but they certainly show a positive trend for eUSA. I campaigned to accomplish this. And while I would love to take all the credit for this, I believe it is the war against Canada that is responsible. Plus me ofc. And Greeling.
War is a good Training War
Reason #3 - Improved Systems
I won’t lie, our current infrastructure does not take full advantage of all available game mechanics. We are losing out on several key benefits we would enjoy if we were differently organized. Making this case is the equivalent of endorsing “change” - a dirty word in systems as deeply ingrained in tradition as our Defense Department and other Government subsystems. But having to wage a war as efficiently as possible amplifies all of the things we do that are out of sync with Game Mechanics. This war with Canada has cast light on some obvious needs for change. This will make us better for the future. Thank you, Canada, for making us a better military machine already. We look forward to working out even more improvements in the coming weeks.
Brothers-in-Arms
Reason #4 - Shared Experience
Nothing builds morale, community, and camaraderie faster than a shared experience. Now while a small subset of the American population has opted out of Operation Grey Cup (and though I disagree strongly with them, I respect their right to so choose), the rest of us have had quite a bit of fun fighting together against a common enemy. Seriously, you need to get in on this.
Rake-Rinse-Repeat
Reason #5 - Canada is big
When we voted Japan as our Natural Enemy in the first days of my Administration, we opened a war that was over in a day. Japan only had 2 territories. We took them. If you blinked you missed it. But Canada has 13 regions and Canadians like to put up a fight. So the opportunity to enjoy all of the aforementioned benefits this war affords is further enhanced by the fact that we can sustain it over many days. We are going to be a wealthier, more active, more cohesive, more organized eUSA because of this war.
So fight with me fellow Citizens of eUSA. And if you choose to fight elsewhere, I can only say that eUSA is big enough for all of us, but eUSA is biggest when we all fight as one.
The game we play cycles awfully quickly, replicating 4 years of Real Life time over the course of 4 weeks. Our war with Canada is just a "year" old. It will not last forever. Enjoy it for now, as it brings many benefits.

Reason #6 We need more GREELING!

Pfeiffer is an alchemist
Golly Gee! A president spent RL money to win battles that he has a lot invested in! Who Would have thunk it? Not Canadians I guess

if it's just a game for you, why do you stay? Some people have more invested, so they invest more, others don't.
news flash dude...this is just a game to most of the eWorld. your statements are getting difficult to follow,
If it's more than just a game, you may need a psychological evaluation.....
It's just a game for me as well. I'm just saying that other shave more invested in the game, so they invest more in the game. I.E. Cash.
Are you familiar with the types of stats he puts up normally? I have been in the same MU as the CP for the past year. I have to look at his stats every time I look up my own on eGov or the leader-board. Billions in damage is not exactly unusual for Gnilraps. xD

Gnilraps usually tanks hard every week, he isn't tanking hard just because he is the CP. In the last tournament he made much more.
Who allowed you to be judgemental? Last time I checked everyone is free to do anything they want with their money.
fair enough....I will delete my comment. Thanks Mike
No need to delete anything. Learn to give people the freedom they deserve. 🙂

NEEDS MORE GREELING!!!

Endorsed.
so Canada should just give up for awhile and then you will leave them alone?
If he does, we'll attack. This I swear.
I think many of us would be disappointed if you did not.
It is way more fun when you are fighting back. Plus I still have a few thousand EB's to burn...
Pursuant to Retention and activity, how about having WHPR run some war stories about the Canadian Campaign. I have suggested this time and time again, because IT WORKS. Just see how it goes. Follow the Proteus example.
This has been party of the plan all along, but Media has had a rough time getting writers to meet deadlines.
Jobs are open.
I'm sorry, I'm full with fed media for now. No can do.
Country>Party>Self
I choose not to fight at all for now. With the division changes I can build into a mega tank. I am a very patient person and when I do fight I will hit hard regardless of whether or not I have the latest boosters Plato is selling.

Shields Up!
I'm with ya...my fights are now limited to FF's. Can't get caught up in the ePeen idiocy. Only winner is Plato!

I'm not getting TP medals, but the FF medals are nice!
"Certainly it is self-evident that we cannot share a continent with an ally of Serbia. " - Erm. Ahem. Europe. You are in Europe. Where Serbia is. You share not one, but two continents with allies of Serbia. And one with mighty and glorious Serbia herself.
This point aside, it's refreshing to see something resembling honesty from Murikan government. You attack because you can. You take because you want. It's safe to admit openly that the current invasion was unprovoked. We won't be mad.
Perhaps what your people are protesting is not the war itself - both sides stand to gain from it, and some of us snow-eaters love it. The real issue is the imbalance. Huge territory, tiny population. Some of your "pundits" have made the claim that the only tool Canada uses from its toolbox is the hammer. We can equally claim that the only tool Murikans seem to know is the steamroller.
You need to pick fights in your own weight class. The battle for BC was fun and all, but that kind of challenge will be extremely rare when you only fight against the very small nations you have been choosing as your "direct" enemies lately. Claiming that you win every direct battle when you only fight in France and Japan is akin to being a professional boxer boasting of his perfect win record with a KO every fight because he only fights children. You can stop crowing about that one until you take on an enemy nearer your size and strength.
We don't take it personally. Currently, there only seem to be giants and ants. Murika is middle-weight, and you have very little direct competition for the spot. You can elect to fight battles you can win, or you can march to your sure doom. You could stand to learn a thing or two from us - we march to our sure doom often and with great relish. Maybe losing a fight or two will teach some of you blowhards some humility.
Personally, I advocate for indefinite warfare between our two nations. We're not ready for your unconditional surrender just yet.
