Join the new world

Hello members of One Vision,

First off, I'd like to thank everybody who came out to vote in today's Party President election. It was extremely close, with both me and LongShotzZ gaining 19 votes each. For this reason, I'm going to be instating LongShotzZ as vice party president. He has some great ideas and he basically became joint first.

Now that our party has officially started, it's time to create the map for us to follow on this great journey.



What We've Achieved So Far

-Name change to One Vision, thanks to Sweet Cersei for the name! She won 10 gold for her winning suggestion;
-Decision to create a Military Unit, send name suggestions to Alfagrem for a chance to win 10 gold;
-Decision to become centre-left for our socio-economic orientation;
-A place holder logo has been put up for now;
-We've shot up the ranks to #5, and are very close to taking #4. When we grow every day, you can definitely expect us to be either at, or extremely close to, the #4 spot.

So we've basically had a great start, and I intend to keep up that momentum to give us an even greater future.

What Lies Ahead?

Congress Elections

I know you've all been extremely excited about the congress elections. I therefore encourage everybody to place their candidature if you want to run. Your placement on the list will be dependent on your activity. Are you IRC active? Are you eRepublik active? These factors will make up a major part of where you land on the list. This is a result of the party ballot, in which 48% of you decided the party president should decide on the list, and 43% that it should be based on activity. I'm hoping to incorporate the two factors, and we'll see how that goes this term!

The party decided in a previous ballot, the following terms for congress candidates from the party:

"They should follow policy guidelines set by the party to make sure those that elected have their views represented."

80% of party members voted this, and so candidates will be asked to uphold our policies and represent the view of the party.

Growth

We have shot up the ranks, but we need to continue that trend to start making a difference. I know some of you are working tirelessly to encourage this. Unfortunately, my duty as deputy MoHA means I can't really take part in this area; but feel free to message me if you want me to delegate some of my work to you.

Military Unit

The military unit is currently in the works. Contact Alfagrem if you have a name suggestion, we're very keen to come up with powerful names that the entire party has manufactured together. More details on this will likely come from Alfagrem soon.

Communications

IRC:
There's a small bunch of us that occupy our IRC channel frequently, why not come chat with us and meet other fellow party members?

Skype

I'll be setting up a Skype group for those who use Skype. I personally prefer this method a lot more than IRC for general party stuff. If you PM me your Skype name, I'll add you to the group!

Forum

We may well request a forum soon, although we're heavily against forcing members to go out of their way to use it.

Policies

A major part of a political party - its policies. This will differentiate us from the rest of the community. It's soon time to start discussing our policies, and you'll hopefully hear more on this very soon.

Some brief initial results on party policy:

Taxation

Big Society - High taxes, Large government with lots of government funded programs 19%
Free Society - All players should be free to develop their characters using their own means and private programs on offer. 17%
Democracy - Taxes effect the enitre nation and therefore only a popularly elected government should decide on tax rates to meet national needs 62%

Logos and Other Art

Are you creative? If so, we'd love to have a permanent logo. Send suggestions to me, and we'll put the entries through a poll. The winning entry will receive 10 gold from me.

We also need graphics for party articles, much like this one. Nobody likes to sit there looking at a wall of text! Send me some suggestions for what we can put in to our articles, and I'll either start using my favourites and give the winner 10 gold, or poll the rest of the party to vote their favourites and you'll again win 10 gold.



A lot more will be coming soon! Keep your eyes pealed for more updates on what we're doing. We'd love to have the whole party get involved, and I'd personally like to congratulate you all on your excellent work thus far.
