When there's no place left to go

Day 2,713, 23:20 Published in USA Japan by Nohime

Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all; but what if we ourselves are lost?

My dearest erepublik and its inhabitants,

Its time to make a choice, and all I wanna hear is your voice. What am I talking about? We are stuck. The tumultuous peaks we have conquered together were a terrific feat. But this molasses we’re trudging through now comes with a morbid sense of realization:

Why are we still here?

Apathy is a perfect word to describe this feeling. But at one time there was a player or two that kept your head on a swivel. Kept motivating you to get out there and try something. Two players come to my mind that have kept me in the ringer: Trekker Tlumac and Wild Owl. Trekker brought me back into this world after my break from 2010-2014 and Wild Owl really, and I mean really, showed me how to play this game. I could bore you with my own personal upbringing, but I will spare you.

For the most part, the eUSA players who are still here have a lot invested in this game. Yes, I’m speaking financially. There are prominent, well known citizens in almost each and every party/MU in eUSA that have spent a king’s ransom to keep our country’s heart beating, albeit the blood flow is near rigamortis. Then there are the hooligans who, for their own benefit or others, stick around to help or hinder progress. And finally there is a group of players who are basically eBabies. They’ve been around long enough to realize something still exists here even though its a fraction of the pace that our predecessors kept: writing, camaraderie, and community.

Grief only lasts as long as you let it last.

Who am I talking about? They are players who I remember very well, and for good reasons. Some might have to look these names up in Google, but I’m talking about a few players who come to mind. In no particular order they are: Max McFarland, Gulden Draak, St Krems, Emerick, Pig in Zen, Josh Frost, Harrison Richardson, Chocolate McSkittles, Jewitt, Woxan, Athanaric and Jack Flufferton. There are more, but I was very selective of this bunch of people because they have been the most influential players during my time in erep. Unfortunately, afaik, there are only 2 of those 12 that still play erepublik. (Max McFarland’s account is alive, but is now Swedish or something. idk, its weird.) But what these players unknowingly invoked on a few of us was an everlasting legacy of fun that has been forever seared into our minds.

Basically, they were talented as **** at writing and / or knew how to get fun started...NO MATTER WHAT THE COST.

As I’m drinking my beer (for those interested in knowing its a Stone Cali-Belgique IPA from San Diego, California) I feel this intoxicating beverage flowing through my arteries, working in unison with my own blood, fed by my heart’s consistent drumming, to feed this alcohol to my brain and make me get real deep in what I’m thinking about right now. But that’s not the point of this article.

If we allow ourselves to be cleansed, we are born anew.

Forgive those who trespass against us. I like that line, for now, and I’m not religious, but it makes sense as I’m writing this. I have burnt some bridges; but they were burnt for good reason. The convictions that I so vehemently defended were to: always encourage growth for new players and belay complacency.

Our country needs a kick in its flaccid pri***. And that’s not meant to be derogatory at all to the individuals I still see trying to get a reaction out of eUSA. Our players that are still alive here, and who are not as involved as those in meta-gaming as they could be, need to take a long look at themselves and their commitment to this community. Yes, lots of RL money has been spent and its a perfect reaction to want to protect an investment that's been personally made. I get it. Things have taken place recently, like the Dictatorships, that have blindsided us because Plato will be Plato. As we overcome these new deficits to our playing style, adapt to what we cannot influence, we need to pick up our friends whose eyes are glazed over with apathy and shake their shoulders and say “WAKE UP!”

Those who are truly friends will always be there.

We need to reach deep down in ourselves and grab our crotches again and kick start the parts we have not used for a long time. We need to take risks again. Wild Owl and company beat Plato in his game with phenomenal diplomacy, full bonuses during the Resource Wars and a myriad of other accomplishments. It was a great ride, but now this car is not new anymore.

Do you prefer a used car that will take you down the same path as before? Do you enjoy holding your ticket number in hand waiting for the call that will put you in the highest office so others can pull the strings for you?

Where is the ‘Murica?!

Where are more Dio fists?!!?

I am arming my crossbow and aim to lead us on a new path. I am running for Country President under the Socialist Freedom Party. Let’s find a new ride, America. Will you ride shotgun with me into the unknown?

PS Aramec, aka Athanaric aka Giggleshits aka Little Halfling aka Jesse, is taking that ride with me as my Vice President, B****!
