Kosovo goes to the OSCARS®

Kosovo today celebrates its very first film nomination at the OSCARS® 2016 marking the biggest achievement in Kosovo’s film industry.

This is the first time in history that Kosovo enters the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Science with its film ‘Shok’.

Written and directed by Jamie Donoughue the film has been nominated among 4 other films for ‘Best Live Action Short Film’ at the 88th edition of OSCARS®.

‘Shok’ is a short film set in Kosovo during the occupation in the 90’s, where the friendship of two boys is tested to its limits as they battle for survival during Kosovo war.

The film is a co-production between Kosovo and UK, produced by Eshref Durmishi and Harvey Ascott, supported by Kosovo Cinematography Center.

This is the hugest success in Kosovo’s cinematography history to date, as now ‘Shok’ has opened doors for Kosovan films to be present at the world’s largest award ceremonies.

Kosova sot feston nominimin e saj të parë në AkademinëOSCARS® 2016, gjë që shënon suksesin më të madh tëindustrisë së filmit kosovar deri më tani.
Kjo është hera e parë në histori që Kosova hyn në ‘Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Science’ me filmin ‘Shok’, bashkëprodhim ky mes Kosovës dhe Anglisë.
Me skenar dhe regji nga Jamie Donoughue, filmi ‘Shok’ sapo u nominua bashkë me 4 filma të tjerë për çmimin ‘Best Live Action Short Film’ në edicionin e 88-të të OSCARS®.

Filmi është i vendosur gjatë periudhës së luftës në Kosovë, kurvendi ishte nën okupimin e Serbisë. Këtu sprovohen kufijtë e miqësisë mes dy fëmijëve të cilët luftojnë për të mbijetuar gjatëluftës në Kosovë.

‘Shok’ është i mbështetur nga Qendra Kinematografike e Kosovës me producent Eshref Durmishi dhe Harvey Ascott.
Kjo është arritja më e madhe e kinematografisë kosovare derimë tani dhe ‘Shok’ tashmë ia ka hapur dyert filmave kosovar qëtë jenë prezent në ngjarjet më të mëdha të filmit.
