"If you build it, they will come."

The Federal Civil Service (FCS) is a professional class of Canadians who work for the advancement of their country. They fulfill their jobs and perform their duties to provide the eCanadian government with valuable services and information. They perform the day-to-day tasks of government and keep their Directors informed about pertinent news and events. Through their service they learn how government works and actively seek to improve components of the Canadian government by excelling at the tasks entrusted to them. Working with their Directors to implement government policies and priorities, the Federal Civil Servant acquires valuable experience and knowledge. With time and effort a Federal Civil Servant can acquire the experience and qualifications to eventually become ideal choices for a Director (Cabinet Member) role.

The Federal Civil Servant is not a member of cabinet or representative of the administration. The particular job, duty or task assigned to the Federal Civil Servant is based on their merits, not their politics, and what they do varies greatly depending on the Department they serve in.

Requirements for the Federal Civil Service vary depending on the role being performed and the Department an FCS is attached to. The Civil Servant will be trained and receive on the job training sometimes in apprenticeship format. There is a Professional Code of Conduct that must be agreed and adhered to. At a minimum, an FCS usually needs to be active at least once a day to perform their tasks. They also require citizenship masking on the eCanadian Forums. Some Federal Civil Servants will also need to have a registered nickname on IRC; however, in many cases this is not necessary. Registering a nickname on IRC, and utilizing the IRC is, however, strongly encouraged.

Federal Civil Servants can only be dismissed for reasons of negligence, incompetence or inactivity. In the event the program or task they perform becomes obsolete or canceled, the need for their Service would naturally also end, though their membership in the Federal Service would not.

Success through Service.

The Federal Civil Service is intended to develop a body of qualified, experienced, professional experts who serve eCanada's national interests with respect and dignity. As a body, they acquire and retain the knowledge necessary to ease transitions or changes in administrative regimes.
