TENNIS ANYONE? ON READINESS AND INCOME – May 19, 2009
(This is the second article of the Independent eDaily News. Our first article was printed, loaded on the trucks but never made it to the newsstands. We will publish a back issue, sometime in the future.)
Here I sit in my cabin in Ontario. I have my camouflage fatigues on. My M16 is loaded. I have a few pistols, some clips, a bayonet, a field knife, and a few hand grenades. There is a foot locker full of ammunition by my side. I stare out the window with my binoculars. But I don't see any battle.
While I stare out the window, looking for a fight; the Canadian government has the blinds drawn, pretending that all is peaceful; pretending that what just happened to Romania, can't happen here. What a joke. As soon as Hungary, Indonesia, and the rest of the fascist, warmongering PEACE lovers figure out that we are defended like (RL) France defended their border with Belgium at the start of WWII - we will be rolled over as quickly as (RL) France was. It’s a shame too, because the RL Canadian Army in WWII, was much stronger and bolder than our eCanadian army, and helped save France from the fascists. Practice your Hungarian.
As I read the forums, and news, as well as look at the job market, I see many Canadian business owners calling out 'where are the workers with high wellness?' Before I moved to Canada, I kept my wellness at about 100 every day. It didn't cost me anything. All I had to do, was my public duty finding the battle and fighting (and healing) each day. Then I went to work, as productive as could be, and my employer was happy. Yet, here in eCanada, I am watching my wellness drop a point or so every day. Yeah, I could blow my cash on Q3 food, but I would rather save my pennies to one day hope to open my own firm. The fact is, that unless Canadian citizens want to spend all their money on food (or houses or gifts), their wellness is slowly draining. Forget about any new players that have just reached the fighting level having high wellness and being productive for their employers. Those people are lucky to have a 40 wellness, and beg for crumbs of bread and gifts, just to keep from dying.
The result is a lack of productivity and productive workers nationwide for Canadian businesses. This hurts our businesses and the Canadian economy as a whole. In turn, while other countries are growing their economies, we are slogging along - really falling behind. And so are our workers and entrepreneurs. Likewise, our defensive readiness is barely growing either. We could be turning corporals into sergeants, and privates into corporals. Not to mention, producing a per-capita share of Field Marshals and Generals, the proud Canadian Army so deserves. So be wary of a real war coming to eCanada. That's when we'll start polishing our guns, and learning how to march lock-step; but by then it will be too late.

Interesting article. I am one of those workers who let their wellness drop but I am working to raise it each day. Taking advantage of the subsidized gift option from the Canadian Health Services is making a big difference.
Get some details here:

Unfortunately, someone is paying for those gifts with Canadian cash, taken in taxes from our businesses.
Yep, I'm looking to fight everyday, but no opportunities since the weekend. 50g for every new attack?
@Citizen B Supprisingly, Canadian Health Services was pretty self sufficient, only borrowing from the Government treasury occasionally, it is just recently that 2k CAD has been supplied to CHS due to legislation (http://ecanada.forumotion.com/the-canadian-act-registry-f67/canadian-health-services-expansion-act-t2431.htm). That legislation was only to lower the price charged to citizens. So make use of this service, since battles from the home front are coming soon.
I just want to assure the author of this article and its readers that the Canadian Government is fully aware of the events in Romania and we are working on an appropriate response.
Because of the sensitivity of the issue, I can't give more details yet, but please understand that we are working for your interests and those of all citizens as best as we can.
You should use an AK47,far more reliable😃 Your points are spot on. The government has been really quiet since "Doomsday". I'm sure they're hatching some scheme but surely they could give some kind of inkling as to what's happening. Especially, since the new transparency bill passed. Which is great by the way. Keep up the opinions. The government is obviously listening 😁^
Thanks, Sonny. You are completely right about the AK-47. I was going to 'write' one in my article, but then thought the average citizen would think I am from some third world country. Definitely the best fighting rifle of all time. 🙂
Yes please keep your opinions up. The government is listening to you (I am a congressman after all and I voted up and commented on this article!)
selling q1 weapons 0.17 gold, pm me if you want...sorry for spam.
The canadian government is fully aware of the situation in Romania, but nothing has been done due to the fact that we cannot do anything. The Romanian government issued a full retreat and refuses to fight back against Indonesia until the admins do something about the bugs in the game. That is why it seems as though the government has done nothing about the situation in Romania, they have nothing they can do.
Note that this article is not primarily about the situation in Romania. It is primarily about the situation in Canada - economic and readiness. Yes, we should help our allies out anyway we can.
Its good to see that there was not just one - but three - battles open today to boost our health, productivity and military strength. Also was good to help an ally, Germany. Romanians were fighting today - apparently in support of Germany.
We'd be able to afford better food if the companies would pay more...
It's a cycle that should be obvious... inject more money into the people, and the people will inject more money into the businesses.
Seems obvious to me.
Right now all I can afford to buy is basic food, because nobody is paying very much for a level 2.5 construction worker. Give me enough, and I'll work harder and spend more, fight more etc.
FYI - Good article, but the title was so bad I almost didn't bother to read it.
J Pappin, note that your wellness is about 34. That results in a severe lack of production - not your fault. No wonder, your employer doesn't want to pay you more. But the battles are open. Why don't you fight to raise your wellness, and help your employer and yourself?
As far as the title goes... how about a game of doubles?
However, you cannot fight if your wellness is below 40. I would suggest paying someone to give you 10 Q1 gifts, to raise your wellness by 10 and hence above 40.
Good point, Pifreak.
You can all fight right now in Germany, just find it in active battle and fight for GERMANY!
Another problem is that the population gravitates towards the only province with a Q5 hospital. Several provinces only have a Q1 hospital, so those who want to stay there (or don't have the cash for a moving ticket) are crippled when fighting.
@Sharanor Excellent point. I know the government is working on this and if not them then the Charity http://www.erepublik.com/en/organization/1395949" target="_blank">http://www.erepublik.com/en/organization[..]95949 definitely is.
