Sad Game State - Pleading With Plato
Jamisgood
It's really sad to see the state this game is in today. I was a V1 player who has recently started playing again and the differences are massive. I'm not referring to the game itself, the military or political module's, any of that. I am speaking about the mindset of the people who play. There is but one goal for most players, earn money and medals. They don't care where or how they get them. Players watch the military campaign list and fight in battles they have a chance at earning a BH medal from, aswell as freedom fighter medals. Players will literally fight for both sides of the same war trying to earn 2 BH in the same battle.
This is all part of a much larger issue. Back in the day, there was clear cut sides. You fought for team A or team B and the battles actually felt like they mattered. Today, every battle feels like a training war(these things ruined the game IMO). Most battles I see today end with less then 5 players fighting for any given side. Being in Div 2 myself, most BH medals are won with 10-20 mil damage. Essentially this means if you are a new player, or you have not spent years on end raising your strength while keeping your XP as low as possible, you are useless. You will never have any meaningful impact on battles. When one player can single handedly beat an entire country, you know the game is broken.
I don't see any way to fix the issues with player's mindsets, but we can adjust the game rules to stop this endless training war BH medal hunting meta, and maybe even bring a bit more meaning to the game. I have a couple suggestions on how to fix these problems.
1. Divisions based on strength not level. - This is a very simple and effective way to fix the BH hunting meta, no longer will we have players with 80k more strength then 99% of there division opponents. Yes I realize some people will not be happy with this change, but for every unhappy player, there will be many, many happy ones such as myself. This should also help with new player retention because no one wants to play a game in which they will never have any meaningful impact or effect on the game state.
2. Citizenship matters. - The title sounds very broad and at first glance could mean many things but let me explain. When a battle is lost because of a BH hunter who is not a citizen of the involved nations, be it directly or through MPP's, something feels off. My suggestion is this, players can only fight in wars for which their citizenship country is involved regardless of where they are located in the world. This will help stop players from roaming the world hunting medals with no regard for what nation they are fighting for, aswell as help stop MU's or players from selling there damage and hopefully help replace training wars with real wars that players can be motivated to fight in. Placing a cap on the number of MPP's a nation can have active at any given time(10 would be my suggestion) will further serve to bring meaning back to wars and help create a more competitive game state.
This game is dying. If things continue the way they are, no new players will stick around. It will be nothing but old timers who's numbers will slowly dwindle as they realize the game no longer has meaning. I understand at the end of the day, this is a business, and Plato wants to keep the players who spend money happy. If you are happy with what you have made, and are simply milking the last bits of money you can before the game dies completely then so be it. If on the other hand you want this game to remain active and fun for all who play it for years to come, something needs to change. You need to create a game state that new and old players alike can enjoy.
P.S. This is a copy paste from a post I made on the forums. You can find it here. If you agree with what I have said, main point being the game is dying, something needs to be done. Please vote, tell your friends, spread the word, something. Change will not come simply because you want it to, you need to be active, and make your opinion heard.

Great article. You got a point on everything.

yep, true and sad

Well, everyday someone writes an article about this, today is this one....
if i am not alone in my thoughts, and others have made suggestions about this. why has nothing been done about it? why is there not hordes of people complaining on the forums ect? like i said, nothing will change if people are not active about changing them.
It´s easy: Plato win more with a bh game where some tanks buy pack to c** over everybody, than with a comunity game where nobody can pay packs because they cant win CC/Golds fighting.
thats true, plato does win more(currently) with a bh game. only because there is no player retention. if the game was balanced, new players might actually want to spend money.

Agreed, I wish the erep community was more united when it comes to this matter. Most Div 4 players don't really care what happens in lower divs and for admins, opinions & suggestions of only strong players (gold/pack buyers) matter. It was incredible how the community united when they changed the Epic battle rule to 49-51, within hours admins reverted their decision. Maybe we can organize something similar on the lines of this.

In case anybody hasn't seen yet:

Not that it's gonna be implemented. It's just to show how much the admins ignore us.

i really like your post but: you aren't the first and wont be the last who mentions these problems.
as sad as it: i am pretty sure that things wont change.
if im not the first to mention this, why is it still a problem? if it wont change i wont play simple as that. i dont understand why anyone would continue to play a game they dont like. pass it onto your friends, post an artical, post on the forums ect. do something if you agree with my statements. ofc nothing will change if the players dont make there voices heard. DO SOMETHING YOU LAZY fucks lol or stop playing...
believe me: i've tried it several times before. and btw: i'm just a "lazy fuck" who develops tools for erepublik.
awesome man, wish i had a job like that 😛 im realistic, i realize this is alot to ask when most of ereps income comes from the very players these changes will directly effect. that said i think the potential that lies within the new players erep could have out weighs what they currently have. if people are currently spending money on this game, something tells me they will spend money regardless of what changes erep makes, difference being what will new players be willing to spend? check the numbers plato, how many people create new accounts and stop playing inside of 30 days of creation?

D1 by time every player who join this game stay first year in D1 and the problem is fixed
about the players fighting everywhere only for BH and CO's this is ASTERIA fault too strong and the non ASTERIA players don't care anymore

The Admins, i.e. Plato, only care for the gold purchases, nothing else. So they shooted their own feet many times, and are living from the remains of the golden egg goose, which was killed and eaten years ago. The shameful "game updates" they did and care to do are focused in killing the communities, and favor visa players over anything else.
Today, we have this sad zombieland.... They simply do not give a rat's ass...
so stop playing.... myself i will be done with this game inside of a month if nothing changes. from what i can see almost everyone agree's with what i am saying yet they keep playing the game and do nothing to make any change. spam it to your friends, get this game changed for the better, nothing will ever change if all we have is empty threats to quit the game. fuck erep if they dont want to make a balanced game
I won't stop. XD I want to see it die, and the other gamas of this eR company fail too. 🙂
http://tinyurl.com/Here-is-the-remedy
You did not even touch on CO's
When both sides have CO's up the same players fight for both sides to keep the CO in the sweet zone. They could care a less about the actual battle.
forgive me but im not 100% on what CO means lol. company orders? ive been away from the game for awhile cant remember all the abbreviations 😛
Combat orders. Pay you an amount of cc per million damage in a battle.
this would all be fixed if my 2nd suggestion was put in place. it being impossible to fight for more then one side of a conflict.
And CO is paid for instance for as long as your side has less than 52% of the domination bar.

I agree with some parts, but i would change a lot more... something like when the Rising era was in place...
And yes, the old game was better, but there is a lot of eRep clone games going around copying the old engine, so everyone can find the one he likes!
i dont expect people to agree with every word i said, im sure others have awesome suggestions about game. why should we play erep clones? when the potential for everything we want all lies here in one game? why spread millions of players among multiple games? why not try to get the all on the same game?
becouse not all the one million players (if there is any) wants the same. for eg. leave the mindless bh hunters here, and all who wants a realistic game, change for the same clone. I think, the owners of the game wont seek our satisfaction, only want more and more money without making any hard wor for it so this game is beyond redemption... but i hope im wrong and things will change in a good way.

i prefer the one starting with v and continuing with populus.... 😃
and I prefer the one starting with e-s and ending with im 🙂
first option is rly good idea. If erep staf want to keep this game live, they have to change divisions.
(there is one problem, admins will not change anything becouse in this moment many OP players with tonz of strength buying exp inhibitor pack. Erep stuff is interested only in euros, not keeping ppl in this game :/
http://tinyurl.com/Here-is-the-remedy
Instead of changing divisions, they even introduced "XP Inhibitor" so that people can keep their monsters in lower divisions ROFL. I wonder if they were thinking about "XP Decreaser", but eventually deemed it too insolent to those remaining 95% of the community.
I think the root of the problem is that, in this game, by its own nature, the fun of free players and premium players are opposed, since many goals involve other players (the wars when you are supposed to fight for your country), and/or are competitive-based (only one can get a BH in his division for battle). So, your damage seems to be meaningless because you are in every situation fighting for increasing the damage sum in this battle, instead of a 1x1 fight against an AI-controlled monster, where you small damage is 100% useful. What remains is fighting for you, not for your "guild" (aka "country"). Also the divisions thing turned XP in a BAD thing. So, the entire game is now centered on fighting, but the fights "punish" you. Since many people aren't fighting, there's overproduction of ingame goods, reducing prices and consequently making the economic module less attractive. Of course being not allowed to fight and to sell in the market makes the game very boring to new players, who can't do anything except holding. Political module seems also a bit pointless when the economy is broken, RL-based ideologies don't apply correctly, and wars in small countries are fought for COs and BHs, not alliances.
You should compare this game with other MMOs, where your character can have a lot of free playing without having problems with premiums - simply because in these MMOs strong players can't do so much against who (except in PvP mode, but usually you can avoid these situations if you want).
I think the admins should start to use ads, because this can improve their income without messing with the gameplay - they can even sell "Ad blockers" for 1.99 euros or something like that. And this can turn the free players from "free riders" into sources of profit from ads! In this case, they'll WANT more players, even the ones who don't buy gold or packs, so they'll think about how to improve the fun of these guys.

The same TRUE points - again and again - but no response from Admins

"I understand at the end of the day, this is a business, and Plato wants to (...)"
Please call admin ADMIN, not "PLATO". This is newspeak, being very well-aware "admin" has negative connotations, they hijacked Plato.
Especially in such an article it's not in place to submit to their games, it puts you in even more of an inferior position.
👍
call them whatever you want, its irrelevant. it has no baring on what this article is about. out of everything that was said, you choose to comment on my use of plato instead of admin?
Yes, what kind of relationship you think players are developing when without hesitation they would call someone, to whom they send their demands and complaints (!), just any name that person comes up with, in this case an attempt to usurp in a fashion the respectable position the archetype of Plato has among the people?
The fact that you agree to call them something they are not, basically their whim, (whatever it is, might be something more random than Plato), already puts you in the lost position in any dialogue (not that admin gives a **** about this sort of articles ; ) ), so the rest of your article is unimportant.
For me it's basic instincts in interpersonal communications. I don't get how you (and many other whining people) don't understand how you put yourselves in an inferior position with that, also in the eyes of others who are complaining about this and that, thus image of admin becomes more powerful, and opposition appears in their own subconsciousness as inferior, unorganized, weak.
