New Players Analysis

Day 1,467, 09:32 Published in South Africa Romania by Alex Calance

Hello all and have a great day!!!

It’s been a long time since my last article...167 days to be more exact. 🙂 A lot has happened since then but that’s not what we are going to talk about today.

After all this time I felt like writing another article in which I would like to present to all my readers some conclusions after a small invitations campaign that I organized starting the 16th of November (Day 1457). This campaing was stopped on the 23rd of november (Day 1464) and the results reminded me of some statistics that Grissom used to make based on our activity at the Romanian Welcoming Comittee some time ago and this made me look a little closer at all the data and analyze it.

I’ve had in mind for some time now to try and bring more people in this game so that i could fill some yellow pixels on my profile by getting the society builder medal. The admins gave me a little boost with the new missions and i also saw some other people trying to achieve this so i said...Why not me?

As I said above, the campaign lasted for 8 days and it consisted in sending personal messages to players from another browser game. Each day I sent personal messages to the players, depending on my free time, and after 8 days of constant activity I managed to reach more than 2100 sent messages. Not all of them were read but out of all these messages only 119 new accounts were made using my referral link (that equals to a 5.66 % of accepted invites) and brought me only 2 society builder medals.
From these numbers, and after watching all of them on those 8 days I made up some charts that lead us to some conclusions about the retention rate and about the ability of this game to impress from the first look.

But now let’s see the charts:

From these numbers we can see that the situation is not that great. We have a retention rate of only 15% which is incredibly low. In this stage we also have to keep count of the fact that all these players received food and weapons from my part so they have the propper conditions to grow. Even so the number of the players that don’t get past level 1 is huge from where we deduct that even with all the changes the admins are trying the game seems really difficult and does not appeal to a large majority of the new commers. It would be interesting to see how many are leaving the game so that we could understand if the total number of players is increasing or decreasing.

Most of the players that get invited create their accounts in the same country as the referrals citizenship but even so they have a hard time figuring out what they have to do. The biggest problem is the first day(levels 1 to 9):
- a lot of the players don’t even discover all the companies from their land;
- They don’t upgrade their towncenter
- They don’t fight even in a single battle (even if they are level 7 or 😎
- They get a job later in the game
- Or just create the account and abandon it without a single extra click.

As you can see from charts 1 and 2 the percentages of the players that are above level 10 and the percentages of the retention rate are equal (15😵 from where we can conclude that the players that log on for at least 4-5 days could be the ones that are trully interested in the game and consider playing it further.

How can you, as a nation, expect a baby boom like in the old days when the results look like this?
How can we change our approach so that the information reaches the new commers fast and easy to understand?

And there are a lot more questions...but those will come in a future article that will be edited in 2 weeks to see how many of my invited advanced and are still playing.
