Day 1,085, 16:34 Published in Belgium Belgium by Belgian Investment Bank

Dear Belgium,

First let me tell you that it is a great honour for me to be Minister of Defense of this beautiful country that is Belgium. I’ve been living here for only two months and yet it feels like home. You can be proud Belgium! Cause you’ve built a strong and united community and its is a pleasure to live here. Now… As Minister of Defense, there are two things I want to focus on;

1. Protect our society

As we can learn from the past, Belgium has always had to face the threat of political take-over by malicious and fearsome group from all around the world. In order to counter these groups I will work closely with the under minister of Immigration to improve our ATO strategy, our secret services efficiency and our immigration policy. Even though it is my duty to protect our society it is also your responsibilities as citizen to collaborate and share with us all information that could help Belgium face danger.

2. Improve our Military

Once again as you know, Belgium is not a big country and can’t be a major actor on the international scene. But that doesn’t mean we can’t have a strong and efficient army. To win wars or battles it takes more than large numbers of soldiers or money, it takes organisation and devotion to duty. During this term I want to work closely with both Generals of the Belgian Army to achieve a level of professionalism that will convince other countries in this world that Belgium is ready to do its share in international conflicts.

I know it might look simplistic for a plan but as a matter of National Security I won’t share any details publicly…

Finally, let’s take a moment to think about those who fought real wars, those who gave their lives for our freedom. We might play a game here but those brave soldiers were not. Lest we forget.

«In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
